The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The ghost pulled more effort into his materialization. He redirected the straying mists back towards his core, focusing his concentration and energy into the expression on his face. The deepening lines became more clear and lifelike as the ghost scowled threateningly at a small black cat.

"Don't do it Spook, I sear to whichever gods are listening-"

The wooden flat backed scrubbing brush clattered onto the polished stone floor of the Infinity Manor kitchen. Its glossy finished sheen twinkled merrily in the low light of the fire which just seemed to anger the ghost further. On the kitchen counter the ghost had laid out a bevy of random tools and cleaning supplies pilfered from around the Manor. Lotions and brushes from Madeira's vanity, sea sponges and blacking paste from the tool shed, all spread out in front of the ghost. It had taken him bells to assemble the array of equipment, but it seemed that was to be the easiest part.

A small black tom had leapt gracefully down from the stone counter and inspected the brush with an inquisitive nose. His whiskers twitched, almost hesitantly as he stood over the horse hair brush before dropping his shoulder and smearing his face over the stiff, black bristles.

Jomi pulled a burst of energy up from his core and spread it into the edges of his etherial shroud. Saturating the thin dispersed ribbons of mist that danced around his body. With a thought the ghost activated the soulmist and shot it towards the black cat, using the raw kinetic energy to push against the pull of gravity and lift the feline from below.

The hung from the ghosts soulmist, limp and gormless with slightly crossed, lamp like eyes as he carried him to the back of the kitchen. The Manor stirred as the ghost marched across the tile floors, cat in tow, a wordless question drifted through the thread that tethered their consciousness together.

Jomi didn't answer immediately, instead he focused his mind in order to split his soulmist. The cat became immensity heavier as the ghosts energy was redirected into the ribbon of soulmist that stretched from his body and fiddled with the catch mechanism of the furnaces coal box.

The ghost flipped the lid open with more force than strictly necessary, sending shockwaves of sound that vibrated along the walls of the open kitchen. The ghosts projection was brought to hover over the box, the tiny toms legs swung listlessly as the ghost deposited Spooks into the container and snapped the lid shut.

Soul of Bones

Postby Jomi on November 12th, 2018, 3:20 am

Jomi pulled his soulmist closer to his core as the question that rattled around in the Manors physic link became more insistent and pleading. The ghosts colour began to return as his etherial body gained density, the small wisps of mist that covered his body packed down to create a more defined edge.

"Spook was being a pain in the ass so I'm punishing him."

The Manors psychic link filled with confusion as the ghost tried to put the words into feeling to try to help the baby Architstick to understand. Its developing mind, while not yet literate or speaking, was just starting to understand and associate words and actions.

The Manor sent sadness and anger pouring into the ghosts head, displeased with the treatment of its favourite pet.

"Nope. Not letting him out, he needs to learn." The ghost scowled, he was frustrated, his project was not going well and that bitter anger was being let loose on the only ones left in the world he still had a semblance of control over. Regardless of wether or not they deserved it.

A faint mewling could be heard as the ghost returned to his work. A tendril of soulmist stretched out from the ghosts form and wrapped around the thick middle of the scrubbing brush still resting on the warm stone floor. Jomi pulled up another wave of energy from his core and directed it down the length of his soulmist and activated the etherial appendage. Using the latent energy to push the brush up against gravity and returned it to the cluttered countertop.

The scrubs and sponges fanned out from the centre of the granite counter. Leaving a buffer of space where the ghosts prized, and only, possession was carefully laid out on top of a white cloth. A stained and dirty black velvet cameo choker with a broken silver clasp was stretched out and displayed with utmost care, the ghosts soulmist vibrated sadly as he inspected the dirt collected within the carved lines of the ivory pendant in the centre.

The ghost had been trying all day to clean the old piece, but the ghost had neither the knowledge or the skill to do it properly. Water strains discoloured the soft fabric, and tiny animal hairs stuck to the corse material no matter how hard the ghost scrubbed at it. But Jomi couldn't bring himself to ask for help. This was something he needed to do alone.

Soul of Bones

Postby Jomi on November 12th, 2018, 3:25 am

Jomi redirected power from his into his hands, filling the soulmist from wrist to fingernails with a burst of energy. The mists activated with a thought as he pinched Madeira's toothbrush between his fingers. He rolled the thin stick between them as he dipped it into a bowl of water and suds, making sure the bristles were soaked through before shaking it out and drawing it close to the pendent in the centre of his necklace. He was sure he would find his bonded any day now and the choker had to be perfect when he did. He felt a flutter where his heart should be as his imagination ran wild with the thought of how it would go. She'd run into his arms and cry for him, apologize for not waiting for him after he had died, and marvel at the Kelvic who defied nature to be with her. They'd talk for days about what each other had been up to, and how much they had missed each other, then Jomi would show her the necklace. It would shine like the day he gave it to her and she'd be overcome with a fresh wave of tears at the sight of her favourite necklace.

But Jomi struggled with his fine motor skills on a good day, and handling his only treasured memento of his bonded added a new level of nerves that the ghost struggled to work past.

"Petch!"

The slick, sudsy toothbrush slipped from the ghosts etherial hands, landing on the soot covered floor with a soft tap. The bristles blackened immediently and the soap seeped into the floor as the ghost cradled his head in his hands. That old dusty chocker was a gift he'd given Edith early into their bond. The first day they had snuck off the trade ship from Kenash and into Alvadas, Jomi had stolen it off a womans dresser after she had foolishly left her bedroom window open. A corner of Jomi's mouth twitched upwards in a bitter sweet, crooked half smile. Edith had squealed in joy when he had presented it to her, it was a beautiful and new and the first piece of jewellery Edith had ever owned. She wore it every day, even in the hard times when they had been forced to sell everything but the clothes off their backs she refused to part with her necklace. She developed a taste for the finer things and Jomi had sworn he'd give her the life she deserved. A mansion in the upper class neighbourhood filled with fine clothes and rich foods.

She was gone now. She left Alvadas and disappeared. Jomi had found the necklace that she treasured abandoned in a pawn shop. It was the last piece of Edith the dead Kelvic had left.

Jomi snapped back to the present with a start, shaking off and stamping down the hollow ache that threatened to consume him. Burying it deeper in his soul to protect the bits of sanity he still clung to. The ghost poured his concentration into his form. Starting from his head he pulled the flickering soulmist in close and sculpted it into his preferred shape. His dark eyes were screwed shut as he took meticulous care to remember every detail, the shape of his ears, the scars on his hands, he needed to remember. He needed to be his best self, he needed Edith to see him as she remembered him.

Soul of Bones

Postby Jomi on November 12th, 2018, 3:28 am

Sighing defeatedly Jomi knelt down on the floor. Drawing the strength from his core the ghost activated the soulmist in his right hand, using the tip of his thumb and forefinger Jomi pinched the handle of the fallen toothbrush. The soulmist pushed against the energy that was activated in each finger allowing the ghost to draw the brush up to his face. Ash from the cooking fire clung to the bristles, and the dried soap left a scummy residue that clung to the handle in shining patches. Jomi screwed up his face and hissed low and hard. He'd need to fix this before working on the pendant again.

Jomi stood back up, his soulmist shimmered in the light of the fire as he froze in place.

The necklace was gone.

A wave of cold, paralyzing panic seeped into his soul as the ghost worked his movements backwards in his head. He hadn't moved it, and there was no-one else in that house that could have, well, almost.

It felt as if his soul were incased in ice. The ghosts etherial shroud flickered as he tried his best to control it. Jomi searched for the edges of his mist and folded them up and inwards, packing the erratic soulmist down to create a defined edge.

"Infinity..."

The psychic connection that swung between house and ghost stirred to life. The thoughts drifting in from the other side felt smug.

"Did you take my necklace?" Jomi's voice was strained and broken, the thought of loosing the only piece of Edith he had left was breaking down the barriers he had created in his mind. All the fears and doubts, the abandonment and hopelessness that plagued him in unlife threatened to break out from behind the thin veneer of bitter anger he hid them behind.

Punishment.

The clumsy, half formed thought slid through the connection followed by a wave of senseless dilating psychic noise. It took the ghost a tick before he realized it was cruel, mocking laughter.

A deafening inhuman screech tore its way through the empty house as every thought and emotion the ghost had ever experienced tore through his mental defences.

Soul of Bones

Postby Jomi on November 12th, 2018, 3:31 am

Jomi's soulmist dissolved into a formless haze and exploded outward, unable to maintain his materialization as his darkest intrusive thoughts raced through his broken mind.

Why would Edith want you back?[i]

[i]She's moved on, she left you.

She couldn't even be bothered to bury your corpse.

"STOP IT!"

The ghosts disembodied voice tore itself, unbidden form his shapeless body. A ribbon of soulmist burst out, the latent energy from his soulcore spilled outwards and activated the mists as it swept over the stone countertop. A symphony of broken glass and splintered wood filled the room as the desperate ghost pulled up and tore down everything that his mists could hold in his panicked, frantic searching for his lost necklace.

You are not her bonded anymore.

Her bonded is dead. What are you now?

You are a cheap imitation of someone she loved.

And she'll hate you for it.

The Manor cried out in fear at the hideous transformation if it's friend, but the psychic link was overwhelmed by the ghosts own deep psychotic break. Pain laced through the ghosts etherial shroud as he pushed himself farther, throwing the barstools and tipping the sofa to search beneath them. Vases and china were thrown haphazardly, breaking the windows that surrounded them.

The Manors cries of fear slowly transform into cries of pain as the destruction raged on, continuing to tear it apart. But the ghost was deaf to it. The inner monologue of the worst thoughts Jomi had ever had engulfed and consumed him, sparing no thought for anyone until the ghost used up the last of the energy he had. The ghost disappeared, unseeable and unable to interact with the world, leaving a wake of destruction.

But the ghost was still there.

Jomi's tormented consciousness hovered in the centre of the first floor of the Infinity Manor, as the Manor stirred tentatively, assessing the damage. A soft rattle could be heard as the house carefully opened the coal box, still sitting undisturbed beside the furnace. A frantic lamp eyed tom bolted from beneath the cracked lid with a frightful yowl, tipping the box and spilling its contents. A necklace of velvet and ivory tumbled out over the black stones.
