It was midday and the Seaside Market was bustling with activity and commerce as people peddled goods and services from their shops, stalls, and in the middle of the street itself. It was busy and crowded but that didn't bother Vasin very much. Sure, it was a pick pocket's dream here but it wasn't like he kept his valuables in an easy to grab a place. Plus he knew the usual tricks, or at least he thought he knew. Bumping into someone to distract them from the lifting of your belongings and other classic examples. But luckily for him, Vasin didn't come with money as he had stopped living out of that tent. It was nice not having to worry so much about nimble hands taking his stuff. Rather he was here to collect money as he approached a shop he had singled out from the lot."Yep, this is the place." he commented after reading the sign. Nice place, well kept and all that. The only problem for this general store was the fact that they were late on payments to Goldfinger. They had usually been really good about making payments in the past so it was kind of odd.

Vasin stepped through the door curiously glancing around as he did so. Coming over the thresh-hold he browsed the wares the place had. He didn't go straight to the counter where he could see the store owner as they were currently busy dealing with a customer. No need to drag some random person into this business. He heard footsteps and glanced over to see the customer leaving."Can I help you?" the shopkeep asked curious about the armored man in his shop."Good question." Vasin replied as he turned to face them taking a few steps over to the counter."You are late on payments to Goldfinger." Vasin said placing a hand on the counter."Oh, I am? I'm sorry. Let me just get the money. It slipped my mind. I've been so busy lately." the shop owner said reaching down. What was he going to do? Vasin thought about it for a moment? Maybe throw something at him? Escape through the back?

No, he produced a coin purse and then placed it on the counter."Send Goldfinger my apologies." the shop owner said with a fake smile."Good, and I will. He appreciates it more when people pay on time." Vasin warned as he grabbed the coin purse/pouch. Weighing it for a moment he gave a nod before turning and heading for the exit."Well, that went a lot easier than usual." he said as he looked at the coin pouch in his hand as he exited the store. If only all of his outing could go so smoothly.

Vasin looking at the coin sack a moment more suddenly noticed a blur of motion and his hand suddenly became lighter. His hand was now empty! Vasin turned his head in the direction that the blur had just gone in. A cloaked figure was running in the opposite direction of him! 'Oh no, you don't!' Vasin thought as he without a moment more of thought sprung into action. Pumping his legs as he burst into a run dodging pedestrians as he followed. His eyes fixated upon the thief who glanced back quickly at him. Vasin in that split moment was not able to get a good look at them but watched as they ducked into an alleyway. His momentum carrying him forward he also felt a momentary lag or drag from his armor. It weighed him down and caused him to come to a skipping stop as he redirected to the alleyway. Vasin didn't see them at first but did see that the alley bent off around the back side of the building. The weight of his armor momentary lifted up with each step as he propelled himself forward only to come back down upon his shoulders. It was evenly distributed yes, but that didn't make running in the stuff any easier.

Rounding the corner with a near stumble Vasin came face to face with the thief. Or more accurately their sword is what they came face first into. The Thief had hidden around the corner, back to the wall with an arming sword in their right hand. They stepped out and swung horizontally at him. Vasin's eyes went wide as he felt a strong thud, but then nothing more. His brain reacting more than thinking he realized that the thief had banged their sword against his armor. Right across the chest having thought it was merely covered in studded leather. Vasin having not pulled out his own sword yet brought his arm up and over the sword. Pinning it between his Vambraces and chest armor. Vasin then grabbed his own sword, or he tried to as momentum carried him forward crashing into the Thief. Stumbling together the thief managed to push Vasin off and away as Vasin stumbled and avoiding tripping by catching himself on the wall.

Vasin reached down again and drew his sword rasping as he came from its sheath. Grabbing the blade with his left hand he turned to find the Thief already upon him thrusting at a portion bellow his studded leather, wishing to pierce his exposed chain mail. Muscles aching he pushed forward, both his body and his sword pushing the midsection of his long sword against the side of the thrusting arming sword. The arming sword rattled and slightly vibrated as it went over the flame bladed long sword. Going off to the side and missing Vasin as he then used his forward momentum to pommel strike the thief in the chest. It was a quick jab but their forward momentum plus his knocked the wind out of them. But Vasin didn't stop as he turned it into a shove. Sending them stumbling back, though being light on their feet they caught themselves. They didn't say a word as the thief then twirled their sword.

The Thief for a moment considered Vasin's stance and Vasin stared them down. However, something changed as they smirked in realization and suddenly took a forward pose. Slowly the Thief positioned their hand into the far end of their arming sword. The handle lower at the tip was up at an angle pointed right at Vasin. This was something he recognized almost immediately from the lessons he had taken at the proving ground. A moment after Vasin did much the same shifting his body into position. His left hand at the end of the sword blade pointed at the thief with the pommel pointed more downwards. His eyes lined up the sword tip with the thief as he stood right there. His legs and feet not flat on the ground, but bent a little as if his legs were springs storing energy. His heart beat hard and he breathed hard eyes locked on his opponent trying to track his every movement and guess what they would do next. This Thief had apparently underestimated him at first, but now they were taking him deadly seriously. But the question was... which of them was better?

The Thief was the first to move springing forward with agile speed aiming for perhaps Vasin's neck or visor. Vasin sprung forth to meet him, legs propelling his mass forward in two steps as he brought his sword up. His sword came up and the two clashed, and at that moment he slid his sword up and applied pressure causing them to lock! Before the Thief could back out of the attack Vasin moved further. Pivoting his sword over their own with a shove he brought the pommel and lower end of his long sword under the thief's arming sword and then up. There he hooked his pommel over the thief's arm join and quickly pulled back. Using his sword as leverage as the thief would bend down forced to by Vasin's attack. But before Vasin could do more they shoved up against Vasin, neither of their swords in position to attack or inflict damage.

Stabilizing himself by stepping back Vasin saw the Theif was already back up and had taken a couple of steps back. They wiped their mouth as Vasin resumed his stance once more. The Thief did the same eyeing Vasin with malicious intent. But before the Thief could spring forward Vasin decided to be the first one to move this time. Stepping forth with powerful and heavy steps his lungs filling and exhaling their max capacity as he aimed to run his sword through the neck of the thief. This time the thief took a page out of his book, shoving their sword up against his. The blades locked as they both applied pressure, though the thief from Vasin's weight slid back a little. Also unlike Vasin, they put their sword below his left hand when the blades locked. Vasin took advantage of this situation as best he could. Bringing his sword pommel up and under the arming sword via a pivot, but this time instead of going for the right arm, he went for the left. The pommel hooked over the left arm and then Vasin pulled back lowering the Thief's arm with momentum. This forced the Thief to left go with their right arm right before Vasin delivered a quick kick to the knee with his foot.

Their swords had come together multiple times now and yet neither had landed a cutting blow. Vasin rolled his shoulders in the zone. The last time he had fought someone using the same technique as this, it had been at that training lesson. This was different, this was real, and he had to end it soon. The Thief quickly took up the pose again after giving their leg a shake. Vasin this time decided on a different approach as he would raise his sword up horizontal to his neck. Pommel angled more toward the thief then the tip. His left hand in this instance was connected to his arm, with it more pulled back he tensed it up like a spring. Vasin breathed out as he got ready and watched the Thief who offered no commentary before they sprung forth again the very moment Vasin had gotten into a stance. Apparently, they saw an invitation as it had been described to Vasin. This invitation, however, was a trap meant to elicit such an attack!

At the moment where it would be now or ever, the thief's arming sword aimed at his vulnerable neck Vasin moved! Slightly he pivoted his body to the right to help with momentum as with his left arm he shoved or pushed his sword end forward and down. The swords clashed his sword colliding with the top of the arming sword and shoved down. The arming blade was redirected down and caught into the studded leather backed by chain mail and padded armor. But with a further push, it slid off to the side as Vasin stepped forward pushing and now sliding his blade across their own. With as much force as possible, he was thrusting down and to the side for the Thief's leg! Catching the Thief's left leg he pulled back pulling the leg out from under them all while he dragged the sword against unprotected flesh cutting. The Thief at that moment fell to the ground with a thud and a yell. They had been so concerned with their upper vitals they forgot about their legs.

With heavy breaths, Vasin stepped up next to the thief and placed both hands on the handle of his sword pointing it down. Bringing the sword down to the Thief's chest he planned to end this quickly. Clang! His sword hit something hard and slide off and to the side! The Thief then rolled to the side and with some serious effort stood with a limp. Leg bleeding red from the attack. The Theif brushed their cloak to the side, revealing a chest plate of metal which had deflected the ending strike by Vasin. They were injured but didn't seem to want to go down so easy! "Just give up! There isn't any way for you to make it back with that money now. Someone else will just pick it off you." Vasin tried to reason but got no reply. Seemed they were not interested in reason at this point. Fine, Vasin knew how to end this.

Bringing his sword up to chest height he angled his side to the thief and pointed the sword straight at them. The tip sturdily held there by his left hand as he lined up. The thief apparently recognizing what Vasin was doing did much the same but delayed due to their injury. Vasin stepped forward getting his arms ready. The Theif took a step forward to meet him. However, at the last moment, Vasin saw weakness, a momentary stumble! He thrust his blade into the left shoulder of the Theif while their own blade impacted against the vambrace his arm and slide off against chain mail further up. Quickly Vasin let go of the sword with his left hand and brought his hand back. If they wouldn't disarm, then he would do it for them! With a tight grip, his hard leather gauntleted hand took hold of the thief's own left hand. He stepped forward to move out of their arc of a return swing.

Vasin then pulled back his sword and brought it back stepping into the wrist of the thief. Then, using this as leverage he battered the side of the thief's head with his cross guard. The thief's left hand in pain was forced to let go and he was quickly dazed by the sudden strike. Pulled the sword back Vasin reared up and delivered a shoving kick to their midsection sending them back into the wall. Sword pointed at them as they slumped down Vasin approached cautiously. Quickly he stepped forward as stepped on the hand desperately grasping the arming sword before kicking it away."Let it be known... this is what happens when you mess with Goldfinger's collectors. I had at the moment wanted to kill you." he said having taken a moment to catch his breath."But I think it would be better if you stayed alive and learned your lesson... spread it as well." Vasin said as he would reach down and rip the coin bag from the Thief's belt. Standing up Vasin tossed the bag in the air and caught it.

He then proceeded to wipe the blood from his sword onto the Thief's clothes. Sheathing his sword Vasin gave them a tip of the head and was off. But he paused, taking notice of something else before he left. Reaching down he grabbed their hand and inspected the ring on it. There was something interesting about it, but he couldn't really tell what. Curious he slid the ring off the Thief's hand and pocketed it. The Thief gave him a glare which he returned through the slits in his helmet."You were stealing from me, so I think its only right I take something for the trouble." Vasin would say pocketing the ring. At the moment he did not know it, but the ring was that of Ring of Affiliation. He would learn about it soon enough no doubt. But for the moment, Vasin got up and left heading for Goldfinger's office for a job well done.
