66th day of spring, 511 A.V.

Eisi walked around the streets of Avanthal with out getting lost, she was happy that earlier that day Dany was so kind to show her about. Her long white hair was pinned up, her violet eyes smiling. It was truly a beautiful city, once you got past the lost part. She walk amongst the shops looking for anything that peeked her interest. Eisi had a long night, she look a bit tired from the sleeplessness she encountered staying up all night thinking about the crazy things that came to mind. But she told herself it was a new day, and time to put that behind her. The streets were busy with people, buying and selling random objects that she didn't have a need for. She sighed as she pasts many things that would of caught her interest only a few hours ago.

Eisi wondered around the city looking for somewhere quite and calm, a time she could meditate and focus on giving thanks. As she walked some people caught her eyes, they were still staring, she was still new to them. Only being her for several days didnt do her much good. She just smiled politely as she past, saying hello in her whimsical voice. She stopped only once to ask if there was a place she could sit and have something warm to drink, the man pointed her towards what could only be described as a Tavern, "Thank you" she spoke to the man and headed that way.

Entering the Tavern she smiled, as she pulled off her coat. Under she wore he typical white, a long sleeve shirt light pink in color, and white trouser pants. She saw a fireplace and felt its warmth. "Very cozy" she spoke mostly to herself. People in the Red Diamond just looked at her before returning to their own activities. She took a seat at a table close to the fire, taking in the warmth of the flames.

"Hello," a young waitress spoke in Vani, it was still hard to speak in such tongue so Eisi said hello back before asking "Do you speak Common?" the waitress smiled and nodded. "What can I get for you love?"

Such a sweet young girl, Eisi thought as she smiled back, "Something to warm myself? Something that doesn't have spirits please."

"I know just the thing someone like you would love." she smiled as she walked back to the kitchen.

Eisi sat there as she draped her coat over the chair, she rest her head on one webbed hand as she looked into the flames, wondering how she ever thought she would be strong enough for such a task of freeing others from slavery, lost in thought she didn't notice the waitress come back till she spoke kindly to her. "Here love, this should do the trick." she placed a small cup of hot tea in front of Eisi then walked away. Eisi smiled as she wrapped her hands around the cup happy for a pleasant face.

[Red Diamond Tavern] A warm fuzzy feeling (Open)

Postby Xelin Sylaaf on April 20th, 2011, 8:46 am

The door flew open with a harsh bang, and quickly following the noises came a most awkward figure. Wrapped in dirty brown rags, the person stammered with a kind of shivering frailty that was only made worse by a slight stammered of the step. Not only had they endured more than their share of cold, but they'd been drinking a bit as well. The head that popped out from the top of the wrapped rags was quite pale, clenching their face tightly from the excess of shivering.

"How the bloody hell do you people live like this?" Xelin shouted loudly in the tavern.

It would be the last time he indulged in the encouragement of drunken revelers. And this time, Xelin meant it. Truly he did. No longer would he indulge the petty rumors of drunks and supposed traveled men who knew the lay of the land and could tell him the way towards prosperity. To be fair and honest, though Xelin wouldn't, the man whom had directed him towards this snowy refuge in the north was less than scrupulous or reliable. He also should've seen a red flag coming from a man he'd just cheated at cards. For the moment though, the idea he'd been the victim of a very obvious vengeance lie had to be placed as a secondary priority to the UNGODLY COLD THAT CURSED HIS PHYSICAL BEING!

Desperate to get his movement back, he slung off the layers of dirty rags he'd wrapped around himself, carelessly letting them drop to the floor. He then made a quick move towards a table closest to the fire and edged his chair as best he could towards the flames.

The fact that a young woman was already at the table did not cause hesitation to his actions. Though it did prompt others.

He turned to her to give her a smile but found himself unable to simply stop there. He'd seen her beauty, and was forced to double take at the ethereal face he'd intruded upon. His gentle remark of a smile turned into a more satisfied grin, an attempt to conjure his more latent charm.

"Fancy seeing a goddess by random chance." He mused slightly. "What's your name lass? Mind if I stay a little while? I'm but a desperate wanderer seeking warmth."

Sitting outside with the horse, Darren was really trying his doing what he can to be bestest personal assistance for Eisi. For some reason though she had it where he was carrying her things around instead of the horse as they went around Avanthal. He tried shadowing her as she went around the city, he knew that she should enjoy the city for herself while they went around the shops. He didn't need to really take too much caution sneaking around Avanthal after her, even though he had all of her stuff on his back he was pretty successful of walking around her unheard. Yes she would turn around and usually see him trying to hide behind a building or a mound of snow but in most cases she would usually forget he was there, which did much to boost his thoughts on his sneaking skill. Spring almost through and with Summer close to looming over them the snow which he stepped on was somewhat loud as he tried to follow, the composition of the snow being slightly wet gave a loud sloshing sound as the sun rose higher to the sky.

Finally they she came to the Red Diamond Tavern and entered the establishment, leaving Darren outside with the horse out in the snow. Unsure of what to do he sat outside in the front of the tavern looking very incompetent, sitting next to a horse and yet, carrying all of the luggage. He sat in a crisscross position in a huff, he looked very bored and would have rather enter the tavern also. He took a look at the horse staring at him like he was the oddest individual it has ever seen. "What? Do I look that funny to you?" he asked as he raised his eyebrow at it. Oddly enough the horse chose that exact time to shake it's head in reply as all horses occasionally do. "...Your right I am being ridiculous aren't I? Alright, if you don't mind Mr. Horse you can take your shift with these" he replied back putting all of Eisi's belongings into the saddle packs. "Hehe, I thank you" he said giving the horse a heartfelt stroke on the horse before he headed inside.

He entered the tavern oblivious of the earlier intrusion of Xelin "IMELSE!!!" he yelled out loud before heading over to the white clothed Konti. "HI IMELSE!" he said hugging her from behind. "SORRY but...heh I'm bored IMELSE. And maybe you can do something about this stupid collar" he added pointing at the collar on his neck and giving her a pleading and quizzical look. The night before when they met, he had scared her and she ran off to a hold and they got the situation explained. However as it turned out Darren was to be her caretaker during the stay of her duration in Avanthal, unknown to Eisi the woman who cleared the situation put a collar around Darren's neck. She called him a dog and told him he had to keep it on or the Konti will...do something bad to him. So naturally, his naivety knowing no bounds he shook his head furiously fearing the powers the delicate looking Konti had.

He wanted to take the thing off but didn't want to incur the wrath of Eisi, so he settled just gave him a begging look before he realized that they weren't alone. "Umm...let's keep trying this common talk WHO THAT? is he ...umm YOUR SEXY FRIEND? Yea...that should be it. Oh! SEXY PARFART YES?" Darren didn't sense any of the man's aggressive mannerisms as he spoke to him. Perhaps it was due to him being so used to seeing the eyes people who spoke to change with their moods or possibly because he was actually quite used to it. Either way he sat behind Eisi as he took the stranger in.

Eisi sipped her tea, it was strong, not really tea like. And it had a slight burn to it. She set the cup down as her throat caught fire. What was in the tea? She thought to herself before shrugging her shoulders and taking a much smaller sip. Just as she set the cup down for the second time the doors flew open, in walked a tethered looking man, who from what Eisi could see was cold. She took her eyes away from the man in rags and looked at the fire, everyone was cold here, at least that was the conclusion she came to. Her mind slipped into a small trans as she watched the flames dance, it was a bit distracting.

She didnt look back up till she heard a chair skid across the ground, the saw the man who was just at the door now sitting next to her, she turned her head to him and smiled. She notice that he was no longer in the rags, for he left them on the floor by the door. She smiled timidly at him not sure if he knew common or even if he understood she didnt speak Vani well. He turned and smiled back, only his smiled went from polite 'excuse me' smile, to 'oh wow, look what we have here' smile. She grew a light shade of pink as he spoke perfect common.

"Oh no goddess good sir, just a humble woman, escaping the cold." she locked eyes with him, her accent was think, some words she new could of been better pronounced. Common was weird for her to speak, she was well versed in it, but speaking it always felt alien to her. "My name is Eisi, and you can stay here as long as it takes to warm your self." she smiled at him, her face finally going back to the normal pale white of her skin tone. Her eyes reflected the fire, the flames seemed to make her violet eyes dance with sparks of pinks and blues. "My I ask good sir, what is your name?" she leaned on the table, her head felling a bit light, she took another sip of the burning tea.

As the man answered someone at the door caught her eye, she leaned up right and her mouth fell open a bit. For the parfart from the night before just walked in and waved at her. She felt a bit shocked and also something else...it was like she ate birds and they stirred in her stomach. Darren walked over to the table and hugged her, from behind, and then took a seat directly behind her. She felt a bit awkward, not wanting to turn around and give him a glare, for the man that was in front of her would think her rude. "What in the name of Avalis." she spoke softly in kontinese. Darren started to speak in Vani before making a really bad statement in common.

"Darren No!" she turned around and gave him a look like he just touched her inappropriately. Thats when she notice him pointing to his neck, was that a collar? And why was he wearing it? As she looked back up to him she turned a bit pink because she was looking into his eyes when the birds started back up again. She quickly turned around and grabbed her tea cup drinking it dry. She stared at the tea leaves at the bottom before she smiled and turned back to the guy that sat next to her. "Im sorry, his common is poor, as his manners." She shrugged as Darren started to speak again, this time it was at the man, who she still had not caught his name.

[Red Diamond Tavern] A warm fuzzy feeling (Open)

Postby Xelin Sylaaf on April 21st, 2011, 9:10 pm

As the nearby flames began to bring back any sensation of feeling in his face, Xelin started to loosen up his joints. He let himself get comfortable, taking from his back his always present lute and slung it from his shoulder into his lap. This cold would need some getting used to. Even if he deemed it prudent to immediately leave this icy hole, which was becoming something of an increasingly better idea, he'd still have a day's worth of snow to drudge through before he could enjoy the feeling of his toes again.

If his prospects with this blushing beauty were good, however, he was sure a few days extra in the city were more than warranted. For the moment, she permitted him sitting at her table, at least offering the courtesy of a relief from the cold. He nodded graciously as she actually said he could stay there. "Thank you my lady." The politeness was uncommon for Xelin in a foreign land, but he could tell there was an issue when most of the people there couldn't speak common. Even with the girl sitting in front him, he could tell she was perhaps missing words as he spoke. It was clearly not her native tongue.

He was just about to give his name when another stranger came in shouting like a mad man. Whoever he was, he was annoying and slightly disturbing. He didn't know what a 'sexy parfart' was but he knew almost unambiguously that he did not want to know more. He was also, unfortunately, familiar with Eisi. It put a damper on the occasion but Xelin had just gotten there and he knew the cold was worse than dealing with a potential mad man. Although his face had visibly soured when the man entered and started shouting, he did attempt to smile weakly at Eisi as she excused him.

"It's fine, I'm used to men like him." He motioned to his instrument, "My job means I spend plenty of time around ravelers. I'm Xelin, by the way." He turned towards where the bar was and quickly popped up his hand. Just as quickly he halted his hand and turned quickly back to Eisi, "How do you order an ale in this place? Something with some bite."

Within the small time frame the two started their pleasantries he found that the new guy agreeable enough. True he wasn't the friendliest Vantha towards outsiders but he would overlook that little detail for now. The man looked to make Eisi happy so that's all that mattered, the instrument on the man's persons indicated him a man of music. I certainly hope he'd better then the Snowsongs he thought glumly, Berus's lute playing extinguished all hopes of him appreciating music in any case. He watched as he tried to motion the barman to no avail, no you had to walk up to him to get your drinks. Darren then took a look at the table and noticed Eisi's drained cup, he moved to offer to get a round of drinks "I'll get drinks." he stated looking to the newcomer and then back at Eisi with a reassuring grin. He shook his head at the silly travelers shivering in this fresh spring day, he can if he wanted wear nothing but a loincloth at these temperatures and only get a mild chill if left out for too long.

However seeing he was in the company of "polite society" the idea dissipated as quickly as it came, with him just giving off a chuckle as he went off to the bar keep. "Hey Phil can I get a refill on this and an appletini for the new guy?" He asked pointing at Xelin. The one named Phul taking a look at Eisi's cup and noticed the extra ingredient that the woman before added, unknown to Eisi. He hesitated for an awkward moment unsure of what to do, if he were to tell Darren outright he could have been blamed for adding the extra kick to the tea. He already knew from experience Darren wasn't the nicest, understanding guys he's ever met and with woman his aggressive tendencies were almost multiplied twofold. On the other hand if he didn't he fear the Konti might find herself in a precarious situation if she drank any more of the stuff. Luckily the decision was made for him when Darren thumped the bar twice lightly with his palm, "Don't just stand there keeping me waiting Phil."

"Ah right away sir" he said as he poured another batch of tea into the cup, his hands shaking slightly. Darren didn't notice the motion as he wondered if he should drink also, he usually didn't but maybe he would need it to help to get things moving along with Eisi. The man produced the appletini "Would that be all? Or would you have your usual milk?" he asked. Darren took a look back at the two waiting on him, a feeling of shyness suddenly taking grip of him for once "Erm... actually can you give me the strongest thing? Something that's cheap" he muttered a resigned look on his face. He gathered the drinks and headed back to the pair giving each their respected drinks and taking a seat, his nerves on edge. He did a short Cheers! motion before downing the drink greedily. A big intake of air as he swallowed he felt the liquid courage all throughout his system, wrecking havoc on his usually clean system. A giggle coming from his lips he turned his head to face Eisi and the stranger. Hehe why do I feel so bad? he thought.

[Red Diamond Tavern] A warm fuzzy feeling (Open)

Postby Xelin Sylaaf on May 24th, 2011, 2:01 am

One thing Xelin rarely suffered was madmen, and this fool named Darren seemed to fit the description to a tee. It was less than encouraging when the fool came back with what was less than a masculine drink clearly ordered for him. Not a good foot to set started on with two total strangers, one of whom he highly doubted their competence. Neither did Xelin enjoy being quietly mocked by an idiot. He was no scholar, not by a longshot, but he knew a sick mind when he saw one, he had grown up in Sunberth after all.

He remained hopeful nonetheless, encouraged by the small interest the girl named Eisi had in his story, as was the norm when he frequented pubs. Well, one of the norms besides open hostility. That norm was usually reserved for places he'd previously visited. Still, with a bit of enthusiasm he began to tell of his life, his music and where both of those things had aligned themselves along the lonely and dangerous roads of the world.

He began, but stopped quickly when he saw there was little interest in it, as Eisi seemed focsued on Darren's hands and Darren....well he hardly cared what he thought.

The tone of things had shifted greatly within less than a minute or so and it was not to Xelin's liking. Ironic, he thought, that in just a minute prior things had shifted so quickly from bitterness from the icy cold to a much more hopeful warmth as he gazed at the white haired near the fire. Such a way the gods had toying with him, the kind of twisted mania that they'd done to him most of his unhealthily unpredictable life.

It was in this growing bitterness that festered as Eisi excused herself that Xelin turned towards the madman and knocked the girlish drink off the table and glared at him. "So, what the hell is wrong with you exactly, eh? Do you act like an ass professionally or is this just a side job for a friend?" He said with a poisonously sarcastic grin as he continued to look at him.

Darren only had time to smile back at Eisi as she took the drink before his head bobbed forward. He shook himself as he tried to steady himself, oh this was far from a good idea Darren realized before he took another swig from his draught ...and that was pretty foolish also. Darren let out a long drawn out sigh as he felt himself at ease. He stretched out his hands across the table in a long relaxing movement, when Eisi suddenly had an interest in his hands. "Huh? Oh my goodness! They are..." he said gazing at his hands as it swerved in and out of Darren's focus. "My hands are so big! I can touch everything with them... The only thing that can't touch my hands... is my hands" he said spacing out. Rotating his wrists to move his hands he stopped as he suddenly stopped to have them touch. "Whoa..." he stammered as he look at the impossible feat.

After a good two minutes Eisi went herself another drink, a bit worried for her Darren tried to get up to offer to get it for her. But the motion was to no avail as Darren found the motion too much for it's worth. Instead he sat down with a huff, chuckling at his temporary condition. Oh dear she's smiling at me! "Hey!" called back to the smiling Eisi, taking Xelin's hand to wave alongside his. "Come over quick! Me and your boy are ish mishing yu!" he slurred out. Darren had an easy smile on his face as turned his attention back to the table to resume his relaxing strench. "Are you going to finish that?" he asked pointing at the appletini between himself and Xelin.

The drink much to Darren's dismay was knocked aside, alongside with the disrespectful regard to the drink he was given similar treatment. "Hey I coulda have dranka that fora you if yah couldn't handle it" he muttered watching the container roll around the bar. Whatever Xelin just said wasn't registering too well with Darren as he found himself finding a sudden interest in his surroundings. "Hey you ever wonder why they call them bartenders? I mean.. they never-oh! I know the answer to that!" he replied with a mock deep thought expression before he continued.

"Ish because yoh not yet trained enough to use it correcly, yet! Ever seen a damage a drunken bear can do? Well that'sh what you can do for naow. You've done enough to set yourself apart from the small people. You don't have to be nice to them, even talk to them. If one ever gives your trouble make sure that they remember who they are... and who you are" he said quoting his father's words in a mocking tone. He laughed at the advice that was given to him, cut short by the sudden realization that Xelin was mocking him. His eyes suddenly turned a crimson red as he gave the smaller man a look of annoyance as he appraised the man."Hmm? Can you make some sense here?" he asked. "I thought you were telling us about yourself. Or...something" Darren said disinterested as he shrugged. He wasn't going to start a fight with a foreigner. After all most Vantha were nice to new people. Well... maybe except that time Eisi came to town.

Eisi giggled as she turned back to the bartender, "thank you shir," she fumbled out of her mouth before turning around to join the men sitting at her table. Eisi struggled to walk straight she continued to stumble over chairs and patrons of the tavern. Even took a seat with random people to her own embarrassment, she flashed a bright red before getting up and excusing herself form the random table, shaking her head as she approached her own.

She was still blushing from the incident as she turned and looked at Darren "Darren your eyes are red," she stated the obvious, " I don't like that color " she spoke as she brought her delicate webbed hand up to his eyes and covered them turning around looking at Xelin. Her eyes were glassy as she's gave him a frumpy smile, she then removed her hand from Darrens eyes forgetting that they where red, and took her seat moving it closer to Xelin. "I do believe that you where sayin somethings about your work or home..." as she spoke her hands fidgeted around the air. She blushed and tapped her tea cup,"I don't think this is tea," she frowned at the cup picking it up to take a sip,"buts it's yummy." she leaned back in her chair waiting in Xelin to speak, she was interested in what he had to say, only her brian was making it hard to understand.
