20th day of Winter 505 AV

Bob's master may have left a long time ago but that does not mean he had to leave Syliras as well. Bob just continued on trying to live on what little winnings from gambling he had but being very stingy with it and if it was not enough, he'd risk busking for a day or two to make some ends meet. Today was one of those days and Bob choose to settle his little prediction act around at Kova's Wishing Well. Mainly because it was one of the hotspots a lot of people go to and also because Bob could use some extra luck and good fortune from the well. It was a personal habit that everytime he did his performance there, he would put in a tenth of his earnings and wish for better days ahead. The cold winter air might be a bit comfortable to Bob but probably not for everyone else in Syliras who choose to live at home in their warm rooms and beds so the day was pretty slow. Probably only a few people coming to see some dice tricks which Bob did with some flashy movements here, a little distractions there and definitely a little push from his water reimancy .

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Postby Clyde Sullins on July 7th, 2011, 6:08 pm

Walking along, it was yet another cold winter day. Clyde had been trying to find a quiet secluded spot in which to train some more, however so far he had seen none. So finally he settled on going by the old wishing well. Not many people would be there, with it being so cold, and he might get some privacy.

Shivering a bit, and since he did not see anyone, he did a little reimancy, and producing some liquid res out of his hands, and floating it, he turned the outside into flame, and walked along with it warming his hands.

A bit warmer for it, he approached the well, and was surprised to see someone. He had been concentrating on his reimancy so much he had not seen the other person. Quickly trying to hide the ball of burning res, he looked around shiftily.

"Oh... hello there... a bit of a cold day isn't it."

He was not sure how the man might react to his reimancy, and for now settled on trying to hide the ball of flames behind his back.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Bob turned up to look at person which greeted him not even noticing the flaming ball of fire which had been put out. He was more distracted thinking happily about this new spectator which will probably give him some coins instead of giving it to the well. "Yes, its pretty cold but isn't it invigorating? Would you like to see an act? Any rewards after would be much appreciated." and Bob went on to display his trick towards man.

Bob took up his dice and applied some of his gel-like water res from his reimancy slowly but surely in his fist while trying to distract the man and buy some time with a lengthy explaination of the act. "What I'm going to do now is roll this die into the cup and when I smash it unto the ground, I'll tell you what number would turn up ok? If you are up to it, you can join in the fun of guessing the number if you want but I'm warning you that I am never wrong." and finished off with a smile. After a little more playing and juggling the die to add some flair, Bob put the die into the cup and started rolling it for a while to make sure the res would spread a little bit more. It made a loud rattling sound and when it was finally slammed unto the ground with a louder smash, Bob looked back at the man and asked "Well? How about it?"

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Postby Clyde Sullins on July 7th, 2011, 6:47 pm

Watching the man as he tried to stealthily use reimancy, Clyde smiled a bit. He was a good bit more skilled than this guy, and was quite quick with extruding his own res. However this guy was a novice, and as most novices in reimancy, his res production was much slower and had less fine control over it. It was about halfway through his adding res that Clyde noticed the glint of it for a moment.

But that was all he needed, and smiling, he brought back out his ball of flames from behind him, knowing he was in the presence of a fellow reimancer. with much finer control and finesse than the other man, he floated his ball of flame above his head. With a move of his fingers, two small bits of flame and res broke off, and with a swirling motion, started to orbit around the larger chunk of flame and res.

"Well i dont have much money on my person right now, but i can always show a trick in return. I see we are both gifted in elemental magic, though i dont think you have had as much training as i have. maybe you should practice your magic more, and your dice tricks less?"

Giving off a winning smile, he realized he was bragging a bit. But it was nice to be able to show off his skills for a change, and not to have to hide and work on them in some secluded spot. Perhaps there was a bit of exhibitionist in him also, similar to this man here, he liked using magic right under peoples nose.

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Bob nearly stumbled back upon seeing the ball of flame suddenly appearing on the man's hand. After a few moments of pause, he got back his senses and chuckled realizing what was happening questioning the man "So what gave me away? My famous winning smile did not get to you?" putting away his dice and cup he continued "I guess I'm pretty lucky that we aren't playing a game for real or you were a spotter at the casino or I might find myself in the dark over there if I was still allowed to breathe" as he pointed at the well.

Standing up and dusting some of the snow from his pants, Bob extended his hand to a fellow practitioner smiling in imitation of the other's obviously lesser winning smile. "What can I say, I am more of a player than a user. If you don't mind sharing with a man down in the dumps a little bit of your skills I am sure we can go and have a hot drink or two after that?" With that Bob lifted up his bag from the white ground awaiting the man's response.

Clyde smiled at the surprised look on the older guys face. He was probably not expecting that from someone so young. After all he was only 11 years old. HOvering the balls of flames a bit higher, he continued to have the bits orbit, making a small motion with his left hand to do so.

"Well i have a lot of experience in using reimancy. And i saw the telltale glint of res about halfway through. Though i could not tell the color, what color is your res? mine is always a bright silver color, almost white. It tends to be rather distinct when you are emitting your res."

"Once you get a bit better you will be faster with emitting it, and more dextrous with moving it, but at this level there are some clear movements of the hands and obvious tells that show what you are doing. And yes, you are right, in Syliras, that could be enough to get death, or life imprisonment."

Shaking the mans hand, he looked him over, he did not seem to be a bad sort, though he was rather different from himself. Different upbringing and training tended to do that. Not that he had really had much training himself, most of his magic was self taught and learned through hard training, working for each bit of new experience gained.

"Practice is always good, beneficial to both sides. We could go for a walk, or perhaps stay here. But we should not stray to close or to far from the city, either could be dangerous. And a drink might not be to bad, maybe something non-alcoholic? im a bit young for anything else."

He doubted the man had noticed how young he was before, since at first he had seen a possible source of money, and then a magic user. Now though he might have noticed how young he was, which was a bit odd for someone with his skills.

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Bob started processing the the man said only...the man was not a man at all! Only a boy apparently not that shorter than him seeing Bob was already a pretty small man but still this boy could probably hurt Bob a lot if they ever got into some horseplay. Not that Bob wanted any of that anyway. "I'd rather not let people know I am using reimancy when I am, it would be pretty bad for business and my personal goal of staying alive as long as possible. Its transparent actually and thank you for pointing out that glints a little. The next time I do it, I'll probably do it somewhere where there is less light."

Releasing the boy's hand with a pretty strong grip for what Bob assumes to be a teenager, Bob continued "Well, I'm not from around here so I'll just trust in your judgement for where we should go. And no, I am not into alcohol myself. Something about its disorienting qualities just tells me its not a suitable drink for an upcoming star of the gambling world." While waiting for the boy to decide on their next course, Bob went up to the well and tossed a tenth of his earnings for the day as his usual practice there. All the while wishing that his next big score is not that far away and he would not have to risk death or injury to attain it.

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Nodding, he listened as the older man spoke. He was right when he said he did not reveal his magics, as not many people would allow it, and he could get into some serious trouble. Around here, hiding your magic was pretty common sense, as few were okay with it in Syliras, and even fewer practiced it like him.

Walking off, he gestured for the man to follow him, and started walking away. There was a spot not to far from here which was a bit more secluded. As long as no one walked close by it they would be okay, and it was not visible from in the city.

Making another motion, he gather the bits of flame and res into one ball again, and let it float in front of him a bit, showing the way they were going. This was a bit of showing off again, but it was nice to get to do so. He was not all that scared, even though the man was older and bigger. It appeared that he was much better at reimancy than him, and could most likely take him in a fight if it came down to it.

"The light does not matter, it is not the glinting from light. The res has energy, and gives off some light of its own. However most normal people cant see it, only other magic users, and especially reimancers and auristics users. You should focus on your res more, have you ever noticed the color? I bet you never even thought about color. Every ones res is different and unique to the caster alone, no two are exactly the same. Ive already told you my res color, why dont you let some out and examine yours to see the color? A persons res color can tell you a lot about them. "

This last bit he said with a smile, looking over his shoulder. He did wonder what color the man might have, it might be close to his color, or the complete opposite. One thing was that it always stayed the same, so whatever color he saw, that is what it would be through all of his magic usage.

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Postby Bob Barton on July 7th, 2011, 8:08 pm

As Bob followed the boy, he thought that in an urbanized area like Syliras it was rather risky for him to have an illuminating ball of flame floating flame in front of him. If the knights caught them, there is going to be hell to pay and Bob always preferred dealing in the Mizas if there was ever something he has to pay for. The only thing good was that the floating ball of flame was pretty useful for that dark winter night which was appearing and it made it so much easier for Bob to follow the boy to wherever he was being taken to.

Hearing the boy explain to him further about reimancy, Bob regretted to contend with just asking the person in Zeltiva to help him get it and teach him only what he wanted to learn instead of the theory. Those would definitely help him to avoid more embarrassing situations like this in the future. He nodded and replied "Hmm I guess so, though the odds of me ever getting caught at the same time with another reimancer or auristic user is pretty low. I hardly use my reimancy unless I am going to profit a lot from it thats all. The pain and discomfort from it is something I am not too fond of."

Bob laughed a little hearing what he just said because the day just proved that the odds were stacked up against him, getting caught by a child reimancer of all things. If anyone else ever heard of this they would probably laugh themselves silly so he promised himself that he is just going to keep this his little secret. Seeing the boy looking over his shoulder after asking about the colours, Bob concentrated a little to produce a little of his water res on his palm and flicked the transparent light blue liquid at the boy with a little playful laugh as he did so as an answer to the question.

[Flashback] Some weird applications? (Clyde Sullins)

Postby Clyde Sullins on July 7th, 2011, 8:31 pm

Smiling, Clyde continued on once more. "Well they might be rare here in Syliras, but in other places not so much. Reimancy and Auristics are two of the most commonly practiced types of magic. And even some of the knights know enough basic auristics to be able to detect magic. The pain... well you will learn to deal with it in time. And it is only bad if you try to go to far. If you push yourself past your limit. Otherwise, there is very little discomfort. And it tends to lessen as you get better, and your limits are expanded."

Looking over, he saw the man produce some res, a light blue color. It seemed he had an affinity for water, were as his res was a more neutral color. Not that it really said anything.

"The res you extrude by itself is just more or less pure djed. It is completely non-elemental. However you can then transmute it into a element. Or you can transmute it into an element as you extrude it, whichever fits the moment. I prefer to extrude my djed, and once i get a handle on it, transmute some of it, waiting to the last moment to transmute the whole thing."

"This usually gives you more control over it. If you transmute all of it, it becomes much more difficult to control, and is just a normal element. After a few seconds after being transmuted, you will lose all control of it. So be careful to not turn all of your res into an element, or you will lose your control and not be able to do anything with it. Once transmuted, it is just normal stuff, acting as nature would do. So it is best to quickly use it or get rid of it after doing so."

Coming to a stop, Clyde looked around for a bit. This spot would work, and the knights rarely came this way. And even if they did, they would not do to much. As long as you were not in the city, they would not kill you over using a bit of magic. It was only inside the cities walls were they had a zero tolerance policy. They would be fairly safe, though it was best to not be marked as a magic user.
