Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

Seeing What Is [Avina]

Time set by Avina in her next post

Winter, the Isle almost never received snow. However almost like a gift from Morwen herself. Small flakes has been falling all night and into the morning as well. It was colder than usual, and every now and then a slight breeze would blow through and flurry the white flakes. The gardens around the outside of Mura were beautiful even in the snow. The giant white and silver trees were draped in cloaks of white; absolutely beautiful. The sun glittered off of the loosely packed snow that now covered almost everything like a thin cold sheet. Good thing there wasn’t a foot thick layer of snow. Right now there was just a thin powder on certain areas like the trees and shrubbery. There were still some flowers that hadn’t dropped yet, but it wouldn’t be long now until they did.

There among the gardens a lone figure walked, dressed in a long and thick white fur cloak. She was Konti, but she was walking among the gardens leaving behind footprints in the snow. But what was odd was she was doing all of this with a white scarf tied around her eyes like a blindfold. Even though she was blinded she was navigating the garden quite well. She didn’t even seem to be worried about running into anything either. It was almost like every single object that could hinder her was accounted for in every one of her steps. Every single one of them graceful and deliberate. She had her cloak pulled around her tight to keep out the cold that bit at her.

Seeing What Is [Avina]

Postby Avina on December 17th, 2011, 12:32 pm

Timestamp: 5th Day of Winter, 511 AV

Avina had known the snow to be coming for a few days now. It wasn't just the obvious cooling of the air, but it was the delicate song that had been playing through Mura.

Only she had heard the song though. Such was the nature of her Konti Gift. She had felt the winter inside her bones, and she had known that at least a little snow would fall here on the White Isle.

Having woken up early to come out and walk amongst this fragile wonder, she found herself in the gardens outside Mura. A thin dusting of powdery snow covered everything, catching the light and reflecting it back. And she could still hear the song, a delicate melody that danced through the air and earth.

Smiling, she stared up into the pearly sky, and held out her hands to catch the falling flakes. As soon as they touched her skin, they melted into tiny droplets of cold water.

At the same time as revelling in the snow, she was trying to think what the tarot cards had been trying to tell her this morning. Every card she had drawn had been about seeing the truth. Images of blindfolded figures and jumped from the deck. But she couldn't understand the message - for now.

As she came round behind a great tree, dusted in snow, her eyes fell on a fellow Konti wandering through the garden. She saw the long, white cloak, and then frowned as she saw that the woman was blindfolded. Yet this did not seem to hinder her. She didn't have her arms out or anything like that. Instead, she walked through the snow with graceful steps.

Avina stood still for a moment, one hand on the tree, and watched the strange Konti. Then she walked out besides her and coughed quietly into her hand. "Are you... alright there?"

Seeing What Is [Avina]

As Avina watched on the Konti woman continued to walk through the garden quite well for not being able to see at all. Every step was purposeful like she could actually see even though she couldn’t physically see. It was almost awe inspiring to see her walking through the snow powdered ground. She even seemed to have a smile on her face; like she was enjoying walking through this path with a blindfold on seemingly blind. But little did they know that she could see all kinds of other things. She was merely practicing her skills while she could. She had walked through these gardens several times over in all kinds of conditions. She had almost memorized it in her mind, she could visualize it …picture it completely.

“Yes I am fine. Just practicing.” She said as she left the blindfold on and continued to walk through the path.

The blindfolded woman shrugged Avina off, as she continued to watch her walk the path through the garden with no eyes. Just practising? She wondered just what sort of training it was that this woman was taking part in.

She loosened her comforting hold on the tree beside her - singing in her ears - and began to follow the woman. As they walked, she noticed that despite the blindfold, the Konti was looking about her in all directions. She could see something...

Feet padding softly in the snow, Avina kept up with the woman, who was surprisingly agile through her blindness. She didn't like to pester, but Avina was curious. And she couldn't let go of that now.

"What sort of practise?" she asked after a while.

The Konti giggled and then smiled.

“Auristics darling. You see, it is possible to see without the use of ‘sight’. Well that is without the use of your everyday vision. But this however takes practice. Almost everything has an aura, you just have to be able to interpret it. To know how to SEE it to be able to decipher it all, I’ve been practicing for a very long time now. And I think I have finally gotten a general feel for it. But I know there is still much to learn and understand. But that is how everything is; just as you begin to understand you see there is still soooo much more out there.”

The blindfolded woman stretched and stopped some as she then pulled the blindfold back and revealed a wonderful set of bright green eyes. “I think I have had just about enough practice for today.”

Seeing What Is [Avina]

The Konti seemed to laugh at her, as if she were some kind of fool. Auristics. Of course. She had heard about the form of magic, and read a little on it too. But she had never seen someone perform it. It was a very personal magic, something only visually significant to the user.

The woman pulled off her blindfold, emerald eyes exposed beneath, and announced she was finished for the day. Did Auristics take a lot of dedication and practise?

It seemed like this stranger was going to walk off so quickly after Avina had met her, so she touched the woman on the arm and smiled. "Wait. Please wait. I'd like to hear a little more about Auristics if that's alright."

The cards had told her to seek the truth, and even the image of the blindfold had become prominent. This Konti was significant for Avina's progress in some way. She couldn't let the opportunity slip from her grasp.

“Of course I would love to indulge you curiosities.” The Konti said as she took a seat on a nearby bench and made a motion for the other woman to do so as well.

“Auristics is seeing past what you see and seeing what is. What is past the purely visual and seeing things that you otherwise could not see; it aids doctors, healers, really its uses are nearly endless in almost every way. It is one of the most flexible magical practices known. Its uses are truly never ending.” The woman nodded and smiled some more.

“It is a good practice for anyone who wishes to leave here someday to learn. It can help you pick up on danger if tuned right. It can also help you see what others can’t and hence avoid harm or stay one step ahead of others.”
