The South Woods Cavern

Image

Deep within the south woods, six days west of Sunberth's Aquillar Hot Springs, an inconspicuous old tree with its roots gnarled and twisted stands clinging to the base of the cliffs. Its roots run deep into the earth, it's branches spread wide high above, towering a hundred feet over the rest of the woodlands canopy. It is probably the oldest tree in the forests.

Under the darkness of its roots, a cavern opens into the hillside, smelling faintly of sulfur formed from the underground hot springs which run the breadth of the Southern Hills. In the first section of the caverns, the air is humid, moist, perfect for herb growing and indeed you may find some in pots there.

As one pressed deeper into the warren they'll begin crossing many small rivulets of heated streams, and eventually make their way to a tall, sturdy oak door. Behind this door, is a mystery; a glow of phosphorescent light originating from lichen that has fed on wild djed. For someone curious enough to listen at the door small tiny voices can be heard talking to each other. Among the voices one stands out; a little louder, a little more authoritative. A strange, creepy voice belonging to the begin which brought all the others together here. If one opens the door a sense of pressure begins to build to build in their eardums.

What waits inside is a marvel. If one has the courage to progress further, their steps tread a long winding ramp. On one side of the open cavern a sunken structure lies crumbling, yet seemingly half renovated with large tables big enough for a grown human to lie upon. On the other half of the cavern, a shielded, underground cove of boiling water hides the festering wound in the earth; a pool of wild djed mixing deep within the lava fed warmth of the water. Few dare to swim in it, indeed, for what goes in may come out forever changed...

NPC:
Name: Catharsis
Race: Pycon
Age: 6 years
Languages: Common; Nader Canoch.

A Pycon who had once dwelt amongst the Sahovan Mages as a willing pulser and test subject is undoubtedly skewed in the head. This observation is not more prevalent and true in any other pycon around Sunberth then Catharsis. Dedicated to such things as improving his lifespan by any means necessary this creepy little creature now inhabits his current abode. In an attempt to study the one thing that keeps him there as well as to limit its dangerous nature, he has learned to shield a pool of wild djed. This pool lies hidden below the underwater currents and hotsprings and there's very few things which will convince him to leave.

Catharsis believes that if he masters the use of the monster creating spawn, he can recreate himself to live longer then the thirty years pycons are accorded.

Catharsis stands roughly fourteen inches from toe to head and his true form, possesses skeletal wings which he keeps under his overcoat, raises that height to about twenty-seven inches. He tends to be physically capable for a pycon, and indeed leads his growing pyve of twelve; three mates, four sons, and four daughters.

At times, due to his personal dislike of slavery, he has been known to raid caravans and offer his aid to those injured travelers and animals within the woods. For slavers themselves there is no mercy in his cold hearted core.

Skills:Unarmed Combat 65, Hypnotism 51, Morphing 51, Medicine 51, Herbalism 51, Shielding 51, Acrobatics 30, Climbing 30; Py -Whip 30, Gardening 30. Animal Husbandry 26;

OOC NoteA pycon paradise of sorts amidst the woods (okay not really ;) but there's a pyve here :) This character sometimes rescues slaves from slavers XD.
Thank you all for the privildege of moderating, unfortunately with deaths in the family and ailing health I am retiring. All thread grades I had on my pc have been forwarded to founders and paragon, so expect them posted soon.
It's been a mixed bag at times , but with all the good and the bad and mixed signals, I can honestly say: Thank you. Please support the next mods of sunberth as well as you have done me.
