Magical Assistance

Postby Sturlin on March 29th, 2010, 5:35 pm

I have recently edited both thread names and player names into each link for convenience. I will also, eventually, organize them by xp awarded so that someone looking for different levels of detail can do so without reading every thread.

Howdy!

I have recently (see: my character sheet) begun playing a Reimancer and at first there were many questions I had about how my powers would work and the exact nature of overgiving, along with many other things. While the Wiki is very informative about the different disciplines of magic it is only a starting guide and as such it still leaves a few questions of flavor, style, and ability up in the air. This is as it should be of course, even something as blunt as Reimancy can be heavily nuanced and unique depending on the user.

What I was interested in doing here, if the other magicians of Mizahar would be interested, is compiling a list of all the threads in which experienced or even inexperienced magicians have utilized their abilities in game. All areas of the world have magicians and we are spread out over numerous subforums within the whole, making it difficult for those of us who wish to study it oocly to see it grow and change with the story.

I propose that anyone interested collect up a list of links from their own character sheet thread list and post them here, where I can edit them into my original post so that they will be easily accessible and organized into the same categories as in the wiki. Perhaps even Tarot might see a few indispensable examples over the coming months which could be linked in the wiki as a show of how the magic works in the real game?

This is not a good idea, it's a fantastic idea. The wiki is supposed to crawl with links to threads. There is a template for thread links that's just waiting to be used, but of course there weren't any links when I wrote the articles. :) I think we can just collect the links here (with perhaps a little filtering of unrealistic uses of magic) and then I can add them as a section in the relevant articles. I'd like all resources for Reimancy to be on the Reimancy page, etc. People may want to add their links too, when they get XPs in a thread.
Tarot's thread tickets: sold out. Not accepting any more threads for the time being unless I promised you one. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Yes, I agree that a thread should be stamped and Xp given by a storyteller so that we don't accidentally have a skill 15 Reimancer leveling Syliras with sadistic glee listed among the examples. Thanks Tarot! Any posts we have here I will organize for you at the top so that you can pick out which ones you want with ease and place them where you wish :) Later in the week I plan to begin my own posting foray into Reimancy, and rest assured that once Storyteller stamped they will be here as well!

Magical Assistance

Postby Sturlin on April 14th, 2010, 4:03 am

This is still a good idea! I am bumping this with an example of how to submit a link to your spellcasting abilities, and I will be putting a thread up in discussion to politely refer people to here. Perhaps, if no one ever volunteers, then I will hunt down threads myself and ask for permission individually to include it in this list :)

My character's use of Reimancy, storyteller stamped and xp awarded.

Magical Assistance

Postby Kamalia Timandre on April 14th, 2010, 7:49 am

All right. Here's one of mine.

Hunting at Dawn

Storyteller stamped and xp awarded. Kamalia is a water and air reimancer, and also a glypher. In that thread, Kamalia used a little glyphing, enshrouded an area with mists and fogs, and showered a hapless deer with shards of ice. I have many other threads where I used reimancy. I'll post them up later. XD

Malia's not a mage (yet), but I'm shamelessly advertising her Nuit companion Jilitse who is a very creative and skilled Animator. Her first finished and stamped thread where she practices Animation is here:

A Clockwork Must Be Learned, Not Taught

It's very long and extensive, but I think it's a very good example of how Animation can/should work.

Here is one of mine as well. It is very long, but you can skip through most of the posts, and just read mine to get a detailed example of Auristics in play. The whole entire thread is a good read, and my Auristics are used in various ways throughout the entire thing.

Magical Assistance

Postby Jaquise Emittere on April 14th, 2010, 11:05 pm

In this one I have Jaq practicing reimancy, as well as a sword skill.

In my first post in this thread I have Diem using Auristics, and preparing for it through meditation. Its the most detail I've gone into with it.

This is a really good turnout. Thank you all for including information on your characters to make it easier to organize them. I'll be reading them all in more detail tomorrow :)

The only one that I did not include in the list is Diem using Auristics, because I do not see a storyteller stamp at the end of it. If you could PM me when that happenes Jaq, then i'll bump it to the top of the thread with the others.
