[Please Read] Spring 512 Plot

Hey Suvanites,

As I said in the OoC Thread, here is the sign-up sheet for the Spring 512 Plot open to everybody. And by everybody I mean everybody - even people passing through.

The plot will take place throughout the entire first half of Spring, although dates needed to be saved depends on your individual thread. The plot will be conveyed through a three-part thread saga, which will take place at various locations across the Suvan Sea. I don't want to give too much away about the plot right now, especially since everyone is going to approach it through different viewpoints, but it has a lot to do with the aftereffects the storm has on the Suvan Sea, as well as investigation into the wild djed pools left on the various islands. You'll get a glance at the new monsters in the Suvan Sea as well as a chance for some treasure - the strength of which depending on the plot. It all boils down to player choice - so choose carefully. There will be risks.

Now here's what I need for you. I need to know who would be interested in this plot. If you could give me a brief background of your character so I don't have to go rooting around through their CS (though I'll still probably do that anyways), that would be great. As I said - tailored to each and every player. The threads will be accessible only to people that post here, so, please, speak up.

Daske started the year out by getting himself shipwrecked on Oyster Island, as did Alister. They will most likely be stuck there for a while just trying to stay alive until they can repair at least one of their boats. I'll let Alister post for himself.

Angry Man On the Run
Daske was born to Svefra slaves owned by a Drykas family. He escaped and made his way to Riverfall shortly after his mother died (his father having died some years earlier). He left a sister behind, two years younger than he. In Riverfall he purchased an old, poorly maintained boat with money he had stolen from his master. He learned some basic sailing skills and set out to find his place in the world.

Well, Alister is also stuck on Oyster Island, so we'll be doing a few threads on that. He's interested. Here's his CS--http://www.mizahar.com/forums/post145954.html#p145954

A bit of a background:

Alister is a member of the Whitecrest pod, that reveres sailing during storms.
He is also the son of one of the a Reimancers in Whitecrest pod that pass Reimancy from father to son, so he knows Reimancy.
He's currently away from his pod, not separate entirely but just away form them.
He's a thief and a pirate.
He decided to ride the djed storm and was forced to go overboard and take refuge in a bubble of air underwater, created with Reimancy. He and his ship washed up on Oyster Island, his ship very badly damaged and he suffering from extreme overgiving.

Do I need to post skills?

And as an aside, what would be the long term effects of Reimancy overgiveing? The wiki gives some immediate ones, but it would leave some problems that would take a while to heal, at least when used in the levels he did. So what would be some of those effects?

Sable left a well-established shipwright pod to join her sister’s. The girls, along with their mates, found Vrix, a lovely cheerful Eth who joined them. And then her sister and her own man, along with many tavans, went missing in a huge storm. Recently, the third remaining member of the pod, Sirroco, has started spending more time with his original family. Unexpectedly, Sable’s started building the Baggywrinkle’s back up a little bit, and is starting to see that returning to a large pod isn’t the current for her. If she can keep busy, or find a larger purpose (the kind that we talked about in PM recently), she might recover from the loss of her family.

At the start of spring, she’s also on Oyster Island with the above mentioned as well as Vrix and Ginny.

Sable was initiated into Reimancy involuntarily. As a young teenager, she was aboard her cousin’s ship and washed ashore one night after it capsized. She doesn’t remember much beyond a pair of black leather boots with intricate gold tooling and insidious oil to the predatorily deployed magic. (Getting fleshed out currently, not added to CS yet)

She’s deeply devoted to Laviku and draws much strength from their connection. The next most important person in her life is Vrix, and then whoever she happens to be with or knows.

Ginny is the daughter of a single father, a fisherman from Alvadas. She has learned a bit of all sorts of stuff relating to seafaring and fishing. At one point, when her father takes her out on the sea with him, they get into a storm and are shipwrecked. Ginny ends up stranded alone on an island, now without family, and is found by Sable and Vrix, so she's with them.

So she's in the process of finding a new home. An adventure together with the people who kindly took her in would do her good, I suppose, and help her overcome the loss of her father.

Hm. All of you seem to be located on Oyster Island...that will make things easier! Alright, thank you all. I'm not done accepting by any means, I just wanted to update and say I hear you all loud and clear.

Alister, there are many problems associated with overgiving, both long and short term. The most obvious long-term problem is insanity. The next is death.

There are a number of more minor problems that could be long term, but they tend to vary from case to case. The Sweet Whisper almost every wizard encounters in his lifetime; and there are a number of physical problems that could be experienced with overgiving, skin changing somehow, injuries, et cetera. Overgiving damage can be spiritual, mental, physical, or a combination of those three.

It all depends on the magic you used and how badly you overgave. Without more specific details, I can't give a more concrete answer. You'd have to decide for yourself.

And no, skills do not need to listed (unless it is crucial to your character, like being a skilled mage, but that would just be part of the description).

I'd love to throw Jetsam into any and all plots available to her. She's pretty much your average Svefran girl, has a casinor and a shark tavan, and does tattooing with art skills learned from her father. Her mother is the lia of the Steepdive pod, which was one of the worst-hit by the storm and Jetsam considers herself possibly the only survivor. She was sheltering in a cave, where there was some rock art she was checking out, when the Djed storm hit. After that she sailed for the meeting at Caiyha's Fist, and I have no other planned events for her!

If it's not too late, I want Gabrielle in on this as well.

She has been sailing without her pod for some time now with only her dolphin tavan as a companion, and earns money as a sailor ferrying people across the sea. During the storm, she was safe in Kalista Island. Early Spring, she's been searching around the Northern Suvan Sea for the rest of her pod (to no avail), and is attending the Svefra event on the 57th.

I would love for Alex to be involved. He has ventured away from his pod to search for a missing pod member, his brother. He has a Casinor with reduced cargo capacity that fits a second bed.

As for where he is, somewhere in the north or middle Suvan.

I'm not really connected with any Svefra pods, and only a Svefra by day (*cough*), but this would be a great chance to run into my kin from another lifetime. I'm somewhat tied until the near end of Spring, though, so for now I will live vicariously through everyone else. Perhaps I can catch wind of some things before the season changes and hop in on the coattails of something.
