“Scribe.” The affluent man’s voice carried from his desk though he never looked up from his ledgers. Goldfinger had been Rayage’s employer for many days now and there had been few complaints. Usually the nuit was left to record the minutes and fill the spaces in between as he wished. But clearly no mendicants to see Goldfinger in over a bell, it wasn’t particularly unusual though; gaps in business occurred. Godlfinger held up a letter towards Rayage expecting him to come over and retrieve. Curiously the man seemed to hold great distaste for the little itself and it was even addressed to ‘Poppinjay’ as opposed to a real name. “Scribe, take this letter down to that fop Killjoy, his story is the ‘Delicates and Dandies’ on the main street from the gate.” As soon as the letter was out of his hands, Goldfinger seemed to forget it entirely and return to his business.

At the very street Goldfinger had mentioned a most miraculous event had occurred, two moronic souls had been stupid enough to steal from one of the Gated Community’s shops; the Delicates and Dandies in fact. Milo Sorbello stood just beyond the store’s door, shouting down the street, “Reward to whoever catches them!” It was two thieves indeed, one burdened by a large sack the other had his arms full of clothing both visibly running through the crowd down. Milo’s moppish red hair seemed to frazzle at the entire situation though he continued to shout his promises of rewards. If no one snatch them here then the guard’s at the gate would still catch them, but it could be bells by the time the thieves work up the nerve to try and sneak by. Any man or men who caught the thieves might find themselves were a grateful shop owner, and the Gated Community that was much more than it implied.

The day hadn’t been the busiest since Ray had took employment under Goldfinger, and it seemed that they had some time on their hands. Or Goldfinger did anyways. Ray would find things to do, and right then he was making sure he got the minutes exactly right. Down time was always good to double check the scripts. His sharp memory made this kind of job perfect for him, one of the many perks of being a nuit, but he wasn’t satisfied with his form. No, he always wanted more, and in Sunberth money, miza, was power. It wasn’t only that, but over the seasons he visited this place he had come to realize its all who you know also. This, this employment opportunity wasn’t the best or most shiny job ever, but it was an opportunity. Yes, the nuit could use this to make a good impression. That was the plan anyways.

The voice force Rays attention from his work and the nuit looked up from the papers he was double checking, mouthing the words of what had been said and comparing them to what was actually written. The conversation with himself ending as he walked over to receive the letter, a delivery, shouldn’t be too hard. Quickly crossing and accepting the letter as to not keep his employer waiting, for he deserved promptness, the nuit nodded at the words. ”Right away.” he confirmed accepting the mission given to him. He would prove himself here in the gated community. Yes, and this was just the beginnings of his plan, and the nuit dreamed big.

With letter in hand, he walked away and out of the office slipping the document into the folds of his cloak. He walked like he always did calling to H1-A as he passed the creature, and it scampered up his robes and to his shoulder. With that he left the building searching in route to his destination: Delicates and Dandies. Nothing short of death would prevent him from completing this task, no matter how small it may seem.

Just as he came upon the building, his hand reaching for the door to push it open, two brutes shoved their way past him knocking the nuit the ground. The shop owner quickly followed yelling promises of rewards. This was his chance, ”H1-A” he muttered pointing at one of the men. The creature didn’t need much more of a hint than that before it bolted from his shoulder and began to run after them. Quickly catching on of them the small creature attempted to jump and crawl up one of the their legs, running up his body, claws sinking into to have a far grasp as it climbed, to attack one of their faces. Hopefully just the presence of the animal was enough to slow at least one of them down.

As H1-A was after one Rays eyes was trained after his pets target, and the whole time H1-A was catching up the nuit was preparing a small spell of sorts. He couldn’t do any noticeable magic, and so he would have to stick with subtle hypnotism. The nuits cold and vengeful gaze never left the man that his pet chose and he began to think of doubt, yes, doubt and the empty feeling that comes with it. The nuit walked towards the man trying to get in range for his spell, but the sluggishness of this body meant that he had no chance of catching up with the running thefts. Sighing, hoping that H1-A could stagger them he held the thought and feeling of doubt within him as he drew his ancient sword, walking towards the one picked out. He needed this, he needed to at least nab one. For once he was quite frustrated with his ever decaying body that granted him his immortality. Why couldnt he go any faster without risk of injury to his body?
