June's Featured Thread is "Hope, Meet Faith"

Kit picked a Featured Thread for June 2012!

When I first stumbled across Jilitse, I burrowed through her threads one day, reading everything I could get my little paws on, and the one that most caught my eye was this work. On the surface the premise—a travel thread, and across the desert of all things!—Is something that can be so incredibly tedious to read, much like training threads, doubly so when it is a solo.

What pulled me into this thread is how we began to understand the other characters. Jasa'lah begins the thread a nameless traveling companion, but bit by bit as the thread continues we begin to realize who he is. He has goals that are entirely his own and no concern of Jilitse at all, and he has a story. The detail that Jilitse put into Jasa'lah turns around and makes his interactions with Jilitse more entertaining to read.

He doesn't feel like a prop. Their strange friendship—Nuit and Benshira—fascinates me because of how odd it sounds, and how natural it feels. To me their dialogue felt like two real people talking to one another.

I hope you see this, Jilitse. You deserve it.

Really fun read! I like the desert and hope to play there, but it's the two characters that made this thread great. Thanks for finding it, Gossamer!

Oh, my. I have to be honest that I've always wanted to see this as a featured thread, but back then it was not finished! I'll inform Jili! This is totally well-deserved.

I never got to write with Jili, which I think is sad after reading this. No play for xp or lore or whatever. She writes stories.

Contrary to popular belief, Jilitse isn't gone forever. It's just that the real Jilitse was crossing the road in Taft Avenue last April 5 and got hit by a motorcycle. She had to stay in the hospital, stay in bed, stay in therapy. But fret not, just last week she stopped using her cane and can now walk on her own.

But this, this is one of the bestest best news ever.

Her light is dim, but it's still shiny.

And Siiri, one day we will write together. We promised.

Jilitse you are a fantastic writer. So I'm so happy you got this. I love you baby girl, and keep up the Draw Something, we will do so many cute drawings til the end of time.
