Jeram wasn't very disappointed about getting his injury. For a warrior getting injured in battle could be seen as proof of your victories form a battle. Though he was actually a little glad he didn't need to get stitches as they were an annoyance anyway. With his hand healing a couple of days it also would let him get into combat more quickly. He did notice how the slave talked a little differently than the others around Ravok. Jeram himself also had a little of his original accent as well.

Jeram did not pay too much attention when the slave packed up. She followed her duties and he was satisfied with the work. "Once I come into more money I think the first thing I need to do is get me a slave of my own, being an apprentice doesn't really get you much money." Jeram noted. Though he was happy that he managed to get an ally from all of this. Not as much of his time is spent socializing as it should. "It's always good to have a friend in these hard times." Jeram said as he put out his hand for a handshake. "So you having something to drink around here? Seems like a good thing to do for a little celebration."

Two Sides of the Same Coin (Valerius)

„I can help you with that“, Valerius remarked as Jeram told him that he would eventually like to buy a slave. „I work for the Kelvic Research Institute, and I could make sure that a slave of high quality is offered to you at the next auction or the one after that, depending on when you have enough money. I can of course also help you procure human slaves. My family owns a few hundred of them.“

As Jeram remarked that it was always good to have a friend in these hard times, the Nitrozian nodded. „It is“, he agreed. „As for something to drink …“ He turned around and clapped his hands, and another slave, this one a blonde human male, appeared. Even though Jeram could possibly turn into a valuable ally, Valerius never served the drinks himself. He was a Nitrozian, not a waiter, not some kind of servant.

„Bring us wine, the bottle of red one from 498 AV that I recently acquired“, he ordered the man before he looked at Jeram. „Is wine okay with you? 498 AV was an especially good year I’ve been told. Of course I was still too young to appreciate wine back then.“

He shrugged his shoulders.

Two Sides of the Same Coin (Valerius)

Jeram was a little surprised at Valerius's remark about working at the Kelvic Research Institution. He had figured that a man of such high status would have pretty much relied on the wealth of his family but everyone had surprises he guessed. Though he was a little interested about his connections with getting slaves even though it would be a good while before he could even think of buying a slave. "I'll make sure to come around if I ever have the opportunity to buy a slave." Jeram noted.

He couldn't help but give a smirk as Valerius ordered the drinks. It was a little hard to not envy having such power. Jeram may have had physical strength but he still did not hold much economic power in Ravok. Maybe one day that would change but for now he accepted his place as a common apprentice. As Jeram saw that they would be drinking wine he was pretty happy with it. Wine was a fine thing to drink and he couldn't help but feel a little classy when he had a chance to drink it.

"Wine is indeed fine with me" Jeram said. "A beverage of fine class. Especially when aged." he also said as the servant that Valerius had ordered to bring the wine came back with the bottle and two glasses.

Two Sides of the Same Coin (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on September 3rd, 2012, 11:38 am

Oh, Valerius had relied on his family’s wealth for the past twenty-three years – he didn’t need to work – but even a man like him got bored sometimes. Besides he was ambitious, and you didn’t get anywhere when you were just drinking expensive wine, visiting taverns and reading books. Of course he didn’t tell anybody what his dear aunt really made him do, that he wasn’t her invaluable assistant, but cleaned cages because she thought that everybody should start at the bottom. No, that would be nothing but embarrassing.

As Jeram informed him that wine was fine with him, the Nitrozian nodded and sent the slave away. While the man was off to procure the wine his master had ordered, Valerius leaned back into his seat and looked at Jeram. “So tell me”, he began. “How long have you been apprenticed to the Ebonstryfe? And how much longer will it be until you become a full member? I myself hope to get more involved in the service of Rhysol soon, and thus I’m curious.” Of course he would never become a solider – Valerius had very little interest in getting scars and ruining his handsome face in the process, not even for Rhysol – but the Black Sun had always appealed to him.

He could easily see himself interrogating people and gathering information.

It was just then that the slave returned. He placed a crystal goblet in front of Jeram and another one in front of Valerius, and then he opened the bottle of wine he had brought and poured each man a glass. Once that was done, he bowed and walked away, leaving the two to discuss whatever it was that they wanted to discuss.

Two Sides of the Same Coin (Valerius)

Jeram sat back for a minute and enjoyed the fine taste of the wine. Getting a free drink of such high quality sure was of Jeram's liking. Even though he had the benefits of a higher rank than common citizens he was still a working man and doesn't really have a steady income at the moment so it was nice to get a chance to relax every once in awhile. He couldn't help but wonder if he would make it to the rank of a full Ebonstryfe soldier soon. Times might become hard if it doesn't happen sooner than later.

Jeram manage to space out a little before he was brought back the Valerius's question. He felt obliged to answer the question and it was also nice to know that he wanted to service Rhysol as well. Before the answered the question the slave came back to the room with the wine and poured it for them to which Jeram took a drink before answering. "It had been a pretty good while since i've become an apprentice I believe." he said. "If my memory is correct it would have been a little over seven years. he recalled. "They like to get you young, helps to train your mind and body before you get into the serious business." Jeram figured that Valerius would take more of a political rank in the service of Rhysol. He didn't have the look or personality of a soldier it seemed.

Jeram then took another sip of wine and finished off the goblet."If I guessed I would you be the type of person to go into the Black Sun, or at least someone who works with them. That just wouldn't be my kind of thing. My place is on the battlefield or with a good prisoner that needs some answers forced out of them." he smiled a bit thinking of beating someone up to the point of near death just to find some information. It was then that Jeram noticed how long he had been off duty. "It has been fun Mr. Nitrozian but I believe it is about time that I got back to work. I don't really have a life of luxury and have to keep busy or else I might get in trouble." he noted.

Two Sides of the Same Coin (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on September 9th, 2012, 8:22 am

„Seven years?“ Valerius repeated. “I assume you are about my own age then, in your early twenties? As for the Ebonstryfe preferring to get you young, I remember that some of my relatives joined when they were no older than twelve.” He paused to lift the glass to his lips and take a sip. He drank much more slowly than Jeram. It allowed him to enjoy the exquisite beverage a little longer.

“I’ve never been particularly interested in standing on the battlefield myself”, he admitted. “I’m not good with a sword, I’m afraid. But Rhysol needs people on the battlefield and outside of it, and there are several different ways to force answers out of a prisoner.”

As Jeram stated that he needed to get back to work, Valerius nodded and rose from his chair. “It’s been a pleasure to meet you, Mister Hirem, and I thank you again for helping me. If you ever need anything, just let me know.” He called for the slave that had previously served them the wine again. “Would you please escort Mister Hirem to the door?”

The man nodded and turned to Jeram.

“Please follow me, sir.”
