Who: Aela Calder, Closed.

"Theres an egg! There is definately an egg!"
"No, there is no way...They predicted not for a handful of seasons, at least!"
"Well, apparently they were wrong. There. Is. An. Egg."
"Are you guys talking about the Eggs?"
"EGGS?!"
"Yeah, there are six!"
"There are six Wind Eagle eggs? six?!"
"...Yeah, isn't that what I just said?"

All over Wind Reach, the rumor mill was working overtime. For such a small community, it was not shocking how quickly word spread. What was amazing was how quickly that word got twisted and changed. From the lips of the original to the ear of the lowliest of the Dek, the message had morphed and become something all it's own.

The voices of these three Avora echoed through the corridor of the Crafts Gallery as they walked from their perspective tasks. Their voices echoed loudly into the adjacent rooms and workspaces as they made no attempt to lower or hide their conversation. It wasn't long before the entire Gallery was mingling out in the hallway behind the trio, talking excitedly and discussing the news they had just heard.

Aela was one of the only who hadn't heard. Working hard in the back of the Glass Gallery, she hadn't heard the commotion outside, nor had she noticed that her fellow Glassworkers had all joined the mass exodus. It wasn't until her Master came along and spied her still in the corner that he chuckled, and raised his voice.

"You have no interest in going to see the eggs? I heard there are nine of them!"

It was another day in the hot shop for Aela. She had spent the day before on another hunt and that night with Perith working in the glass revenue. Although she had done very well, Perith still saw it as a waste of time and lectured her appropriately. Today would be different for her, as she was in the shop without her mentor. Whether he was busy elsewhere or decided to wonder off due to her constant challenge of his judgement was left to be seen. She was now working on her own, and she had gotten him to allow her to step away from the molds and to use the free form technique to make her glass wares. That acquired knowledge is what allowed her to create her first glass bow and with Perith away she used that time to create a second.

The process wasn't as hard as it was the first time, as she had been worried about cracking the glass and if she spent the pipe fast enough. But this time would be better, and after getting helpful tips from a fellow apprentice she knew what to do. After using the pipe and keeping the glass moving, she made sure that the glass had thinned enough then used the jacks and shears to curve the wings of the bow. She had planned to do this a dozen or so chimes ago, but with Perith's watchful eyes it was hard to find the time to break away and work on her own projects. Stepping away from the bench, she moved to the break box and broke the pipe into it. Finally she placed the piece into the annealer where she would slowly release the heat built up inside the glass bow. It would be a few hours before she would know if she corrected the marking she made on the first and if the bubbles were all gone.

Aela moved to the bench and leaned against it to rest a bit, her body was covered in beads of sweat, her hair, although pulled back into a braid, was a mess from the heat. Long strains had fallen loose and were now sticking to her head and face. She arched her back as she pulled daintily on the straps at her shoulders to un-stick her white vinati top that was almost completely soaked through. She felt proud of her work, thinking that the new, lighter glass bow and the arrow-head beads with the lettering in them would be a big hit. Suddenly she was brought from her inner thoughts by the sound of her mentor's voice. "When did he get back?" Aela sighed and wiped away the sweat at her brow before she turned around to face him, trying desperately to bring any expression to her face besides guilt.

At first his words didn't reach her and she only focused on the fact that he seemed to be in a really good mood. Once the words registered in her mind, it brought a smile to her face and a new gleam to her emerald green eyes. "There are more eggs??" She quickly hopped from the marvel and walked over to him. Her eyes were fixed on his and she hoped that his new excitement over the Wind Eagle eggs would keep his mind off her work load. "Nine eggs?" She said in a spirited tone, almost dancing in place. "Of course I want to see them!"

Aela quickly slipped past him, not giving him a chance to ask how her work was coming and moved out into the corridor. It didn't take long to find the crowd talking loudly and all huddled together in one place. Many were talking amongst themselves while a certain number of people seemed to be focused on the words of three people. Aela lifted herself up as high as she could on the tips of her toes, trying to see who exactly was speaking but the little huntress was at a disadvantage in height. Her ears prickered when she heard a voice speak of six eggs when Perith had clearly stated that there were nine. "Wait..What? I thought there were nine eggs?" It was no use, her little voice simply wouldn't carry over the mass of roars and laughter echoing and mixing together to devour the corridor.

Finally a fellow glass blower turned to her and explained the confusing news as he saw it, and told her that there were really seven eggs rather than six. A pout formed on her lips and her nose twitched a bit as she folded her arms across her chest and stared them all down. She wasn't going to learn anything for them, if she wanted to know what the truth was she had to go and see for herself. She pushed her way along the wall, trying to ease by the crowd of people who continued to ignore her and make her way to the other side. The task had proven a bit harder than she expected and as she reached the end of the crowd, her foot unintentionally got tangled with another sending her stumbling forward and against the wall with a thump.

"Ooooh petch!" She spat realizing that she was short one sandal and had to quickly locate it before someone stepped on it. Luckily the sandal hadn't tumbled far from her and she could easily reach it from where she stood. Aela huffed, blowing a few more loose strains of hair from her face as she slipped her small foot back into the sandal and left the gallery. Aela was over-joyed, and bursting with excitement as she quickly make her way to the courtyard and started the long climb up the stairs and through the corridors to reach the Aeries. It was always a happy and wonderful day when another Wind Eagle laid an egg and Aela was one of the most excited about this.

Once she had made her way all the way up to the Aeries, Aela paused and took a moment to catch her breath. In her excitement she had hurried the journey to the top and now found herself short of breath. Looking around her, she could easily see the difference between the rooms here and the ones she where she slept, even the hallway were more luxurious with all it's decorations and carpentry. Aela continued to look around as she moved on and finally found the Nesting chamber. She stepped inside the rocky room, the sudden sound of the metal chimes caught her attention as the Eagle played with it. It was huge with a strong build, it's feathers were a mix of gold and brown. It was intimidating to look at and yet just as beautiful. Aela stared, her eyes widen, pupils large, as she looked into the nest. There inside, resting amongst the dead stalks and hides of animals was a single egg. "What the petch! There's only one!"

Hala watched carefully as the redheaded waves rolled into her Aerie. There was no doubt that the Inartans were excited and it was with a quiet, dominating sort of patience that the Wind Eagle allowed the visitors. Though she was only in her fifth summer, Hala had earned the respect of the gingers and her fellow Wind Eagles alike. Bonded to a fierce Endal named Kaliah, the pair brought in more kills than most of the younger Endal combined. Working in perfect harmony, the Endal and Eagle pair were neigh unstoppable. Needless to say, there were high expectations for the chick that was to hatch from this egg.

By the time Aela got to the nesting chamber, however, Hala's patience was just beginning to wear thin. A group of Yasi had shown up and were pushing the invisible boundaries that had been set; the group had gathered a couple dozen paces from the nest, no one really willing to step any closer while that unwavering golden gaze was upon them. The little boy who started it all seemed unaffected by watching mothers gaze, stepping away from the crowd and taking small, sliding steps forward as if no one had noticed him.

"Timmy, stop.." One little girl chirped from somewhere behind the knees of a watcher.

"Little boy, get back here!" The Chiet woman also spoke in a lowered tone, leaning forward and trying to grasp Timmy's arm before he was out of reach. The grasp missed, snagging only part of his bryda. Feeling the tug, Timmy cried out and leap forward, shouting his defiance.

"I just want to touch it! Leave me alone!"

Do not take a step further, little one. The crisp voice echoed through the mind of every Inartan present, a poignant silence settling over the space. Little Timmy's footsteps faltered and he cringed, ducking his head and holding his ears as if it would make the sound go away. Hala hadn't moved from where she perched behind her nest, though the golden feathers that covered her massive body had all been puffed out, doubling her in size. All the warning signs of a protective mother were there. But little Timmy just didn't seem to get it.

With his hands still clamped tight, he took another step forward. Hala cawed in anger and rose, curved beak snapping in the boys direction. From the crowd, came a cry.

"Someone, get him!"

"One petching egg..." Aela thought as she stood there, her small fist held tightly against her slender hips. The little Avora had heard several accounts of how many eggs there were, and they all were WAY off. A single egg laid in the nest with no signs of any others coming along after."How could they get this so wrong?"She thought to herself as she recalled the faces of the people who had firmly stated that there six, seven, and nine eggs!

"Nine eggs Perith?" Thinking more on the subject, she realized that Perith had been acting a bit odd that morning. He had been unusually optimistic, even as far as Wind Eagles were concerned, and was ok with her wondering off to see the new egg. It was all uncharacteristic of him, especially with the subject of Wind Eagles being stale between them as of late. Still, one egg was enough for a celebration.

"Won't they all be surprised when I get back.." She thought to herself, imagining the look on their faces when she tells of the one and only egg they laid in the nest.

Aela stood there for a few chimes more, she had been so wrapped up in the potential she saw before her, that she hadn't noticed that she wasn't alone. A group of Yasi had wondered in, or possibly had been there before she arrived, however her tunnel vision had obscured them and everyone else from view. A sudden ruckus started among the group as the one little boy dared to touch the egg. Aela turned and was surprised that the Chiet woman didn't have more control over the young-lings, recalling her own days when her teacher ruled them with an iron fist.

"What are you doing?" She thought to herself as she watched the boy escape his teacher's grasp and continue toward the nest with no one coming after him. A sudden, loud and thunderous voice echoed through her mind and caused her to reach for her ears as well. It was the mother eagle, speaking to them, and warning the young boy to stay way. Her body seemed to have grown in size and her feathers puffed out to make the already intimidating giant even more so. Everyone in the room froze in place, some even cowering from the booming voice."Kid...don't you.."She started to say as the boy started to move again, his fist were clinched and his legs shaky. The boy was afraid, but he continued forward anyway.

A sudden loud caw, caused Aela to quickly look up towards the bird. The mother was very angry, and in no mood to tolerate the boy's curiosity. She rose up, her eyes huge and fiery as she moved to snap her powerful beak at the unsuspecting young-ling."Petch!" Aela squeaked as she raced toward the boy, her heart pounded in her chest, as adrenaline pushed her legs to move faster. With in seconds of what could have been a fatal blow, Aela dove in and tackled the boy to the ground, the momentum sending them both sliding into the corner with a bounce.

As Aela lunged, so did Hala. Those vicious talons were extended in a swipe that would have taken the boy fully across his pudgy little face, but they instead found purchase in the back of Aela's shirt. A collective gasp from the onlookers shattered the poignant silence of the Aerie as Hala's talons caught in the flimsy fabric, the pale skin beneath exposed and tearing just as easily as the vinati did. Hala tore down Aela's back, from her shoulder across, all the way down to her hip before the young woman had rolled out of the angry mother Eagles reach. A dark smear of blood marked the glassblowers skid into the corner, where she and the boy thumped to a stop.

The silence was absolute.

Get out of my aerie. All of you. GET OUT! The onlookers had no idea what to do, some of them stepping forward with their hands outstretched towards where Aela and Timmy lay crumpled, while others immediately fled. Hala's voice cracked through all their minds though, and soon even those most persistently trying to help were scampering from the aerie.

Timmy had hit his head on the rough stone floor when Aela had pounced him to the ground, his eyes now rolled back into his head as it lolled over one shoulder, unconscious. Hala, having chased the last onlooker down the hallway, returned to her nest with her feathers fluffed, doubling her in size, and her wings half extended in her anger as she stood over the pair where they lay.

Get. Out. Though the voice echoed through her mind, Aela could hear the Wind Eagle's beak snapping and clacking as if she was talking aloud, the scrap and clatter of those deadly talons on the stone only further demonstrating her irritation. The pain was overwhelming, her back burning as though it was on fire, and the extreme loss of blood starting to blurr the edges of her vision black. But Hala didn't care.

NOW!

It all happened so suddenly, her dive to save the boy, the feel of the sharp talons as they ripped into her back, just before she slid into the corner. She had been fast enough to save the boy, but in doing so she was injured. The little Avora cried out, her body shivering from the pain. She could feel the air in the room as it moved against her exposed back, causing the burning to worsen. "Go....Just go!" She yelled to the others in hopes of sparring them the wraith of the angry mother.

The pain was intense, and even the thought of moving seemed to intensify the burning. Aela whimpered and moaned, trying to find feeling in her legs and arms. She had saved the boy from the attack, but the danger wasn't over yet. The Eagle was enraged and wanted them all to leave. Forcing her eyes open, emerald green stared through blurry tears, at the large feet that were now in front of them. They were alone with the fearsome, giant eagle, who was undoubtedly ready to finish them off. "Hey...Hey." Aela said as she looked down at the boy in her arms.

She hadn't realized that the fall had knocked him unconscious, and thought that the Eagle had gotten him also. "No..No!" She cried hugging him to her. There wasn't any time to think, she had to get up and get someone to help. She whimpered more as she forced herself to stand on shaky limbs. "Oh..petch this hurts."

Aela curled the boy into her arms and slowly started to walk. He was heavy and with her injured back, it was even harder to walk while caring him. Still she forced her body to move forward, soft moans escaped her lips as she stumbled along. Aela moved passed the eagle, she refused to look upon it for fear that it might attack them again. It was a slow walk to the exit, and for the injured teen it seemed even longer. Even though she moved closer to the outside where she sun shined brightly, the room and everything around her continued to darken.

Once she made it closer to the exit, and could see blurry visions moving about just outside the door. Aela breathe in deep, bringing all of the strength she had left into her lungs as she screamed loudly. "Help! Someone help!" Soon and within seconds, her voice began to fade until it was only a whisper. The final steps into the outside were even harder, and she could feel her legs giving out. "Some one...." A sudden chill over took her body, as everything around her turned black. After making two final steps out of the door, the little huntress collapsed onto the ground.

Perhaps it was the delirium that weaving its greedy fingers into Aela's mind but the world seemed to turn over onto it's head. The young woman knew that she was in dire need of medical attention, the fuzziness on the edges of her vision were testament enough to that, and that Timmy still lay unconscious hear her, but none of it seemed to matter in the slightest.

As the darkness swamped her, not crashing in like a wave but oozing and creeping around until there was simply no other space to fill than that which Aela occupied, there was absolute silence. The innate sounds of the mountain were no longer; the birds chirping ceased, the distant sound of the day progressing disappeared. She was alone.

The volcano was exploding again, the molten stone and lava that spilled over the lip of the crater much to bright in some places, much to dark and oozing in others. Like blood, its slithered down the volcanos cone in rivulets that exactly mimicked the bloody trenches on the Inartan woman's back. The bloody lava steamed and hissed as it caressed the fresh stone in it's path, leaving only blackened shells of rock behind. Aela was past the point of feeling any pain, so she didn't notice the burns that streaked her flesh thanks to the blood that boiled in pools now on the floor around her.

A joyful cackle erupted into her mind, filling every cavity and stimulating parts of her brain that would have otherwise stayed dormant, flooding the young woman's unconscious with color and sound unmatched to anything she had heard or seen before. The laugh was the only thing that was familiar. The entire mountain had heard the sound as the massive Djed storm broke over their city and began it's expansion across Mizahar. Oh yes, Aela would know this voice. She instantly knew his name, whether she wanted to think it or not. The burns and wounds screamed as her back arched, her limbs twitching and extending as far as possible as that name tore from her lips unhindered by any conscious thought.

He had taken a liking to this one, and Aela's lips twisted in a smile that shadowed the one that lingered on the gods lips, where ever he was.

And just like that, it was over. Consciousness came flooding back, slamming Aela awake just as Timmy began to cry. There were a few women huddled around the pair now, their sure hands and calm voices marking them as healers.

"Wake up. Come on now, Wake up- Oh there you are!" The voice was bubbly and calming, a forced, yet soothing, sound that came with much practice. "We have to get you both up and into the Infirmary. Can you stand? Can you walk?"

The two Avora would assist Aela if she needed, the third carrying the still-stunned little boy as he whimpered and twitched. The infirmary had a heads up to the coming of the bloody pair, a bed waiting for Aela, the healers prepped and ready to stitch her back up.

However, in the back of her mind, Aela knew that something had changed... something wasn't quite right...

Ambitions (Aela Calder)

Aela quickly awakened, her eyes forcing themselves open, and her will forcing her limbs to come back to life. Through slightly blurred vision, she saw the women huddled around her, and for a moment didn't know what was going on. But as her body wakened, so did her mind, and she then remembered the events that had led to her collapsing on the ground right outside of the Aeries. "Is he okay?" She asked suddenly, remembering the condition of the young boy just before she passed out. Aela slowly pushed herself up, the horrific pain that she had felt in her back was dulled slightly, but she understood exactly why they needed to hurry her to the Infirmary. "I can walk.."

Aela was never the type to talk about pain, fear, or death. However, that is what it had felt like. In those moments before the eagle attacked, she had never feared for her life as much, and once she fell to the ground she was sure that she'd never get up again. What happened next, would become a forgetful blur to the young Avora, but forever remain in the subconscious of her mind. Getting up was harder than she imagined, and it felt as if her body had been laying still for a bell or two, when it had only been a few ticks.

The walk to the Infirmary had been quiet, at least to Aela who was beside herself, and still slowly coming back from the darkest that had taken her. Once they were inside, Aela laid across the bed that the healers pointed out to her. She glanced up to see the other healer with the boy, but wasn't sure what she doing. "How bad is it?" She said, though her voice was barley a murmur.

Aela was at a lost, as much as she cared for the well being of the young boy, she could not help but to think of her own situation. Every since she was a little girl, she had dreamed of being an Endal and riding the amazing giant eagles of her city. That dream had propelled her forward through every obstacle that had come her way. However, that was before she was attacked by the fearsome wonder. Before she felt the deadly talons ripping open her back and almost killing them both.

The eagle had been trying to protect it's egg from the curious boy, and only acted in self defense. But Aela didn't see it that way, not at the moment. In her mind, she had witness the true power of the giant creature, and almost found her fate under it's might. She wasn't ready... She played the scene over and over again in her mind, and she continued to come to that very same conclusion. She didn't want to give up, didn't want to turn away from her dream, but each time she thought about the eagles she'd feel the pain in her back again and remember the panic she felt as she raced to escape with the boy in her arms.

Many thoughts raced through her mind, and it was hard to think clearly on any of them. She glanced toward the direction the healers had taken the boy again. She had feared the worse, when she saw that he wasn't moving, and didn't have time to see if he was breathing. Aela had done the best that she could to save the boy, and now it was up to the healers. She could only hope that they could revive him. "What is this...feeling?"

It hit Aela all very suddenly.

Almost a bell was lost to her, the healers having given her something to dull the pain which in turn had dulled all of her senses, putting her in a stupor. She answered the healers questions without much aplomb and didn't even feel it as they started to stitch up her back. Even though all Aela's questions were responded too, the answers didn't seem to stick in her mind; in one ear, out the other.

Fade to black. The noises of the rather busy infirmary settled into a faint background buzz, the lights dimming until they were just fuzzy points in the distance. It was peaceful as Aela drifted off into unconsciousness, a gentle and comfortable sort of feeling, as if she were falling asleep..

The young woman slammed into the unforgiving rock ledge, one not unlike that which she and Aidara were stranded all those moons ago, facing down a Zith that they had no hope of out muscling. The aches and pains that had plagued her for days after the encounter all came rushing back, crippling her with their intensity.

When Aela was able to regain control of herself and look around, she noted a fuzzy, humanoid like outline standing on the edge of the cliff, sharing the space with her but only barely. As she looked up, Aela felt the weight of the creatures gaze land on her, the force of it almost crushing her back to the stone.

"Your name." The voice crackled like living flame, snapping at the ends of words while at the same time flowing over Aela's senses and smothering her of all else; there was nothing but the voice, the sound and feel of it when it reached her ears. There was no one more important than whatever creature possessed such a voice. It was not a question if Aela would tell him her name, but when she would find the strength to answer under such a gaze.

"I have a task for you. Well..." The voice became musing and Aela found herself hanging on every word, longing to possess the strength that would let her crawl to the creature who kept his distance. His. It was most definitely a he. "...It's kind of a task. I want you to be my puppet. Will you be my puppet, Aela?"

The young woman felt her emotions surge, roaring through her veins as the simpering need to obey overcame every other emotion she could possibly possess. The indistinct creature laughed as he felt this; a joyous sound, one of great amusement. "I like you, Aela. You are so.. pliable."

"I want you strike at the heart of the city. I want you to do something unforgivable, strike a blow to the morality of your very own people. Do this, and you shall be rewarded in ways beyond imagining." This command was given with the affectionate tone, as if a child had just been given a new toy that he was enjoying throwing around. There was really no malice there, behind those words, and the intent was for the most part sincere: It would be fun to watch. Plain and simple.

After giving Aela enough time to agree and pledge herself, the Creature gave a final laugh and abruptly vanished; and with him, the scenery. Again, she was falling.. falling...falling... until the cool, crisp sheets of the infirmary bed cradled her once more. Jolting back to reality, Aela remembered nothing of her dream.

All she knew was that there was nothing, NOTHING more important than proving herself worthy to all of Wind Reach, to all of the Inartans from the lowest Dek to the highest Endal.

Ambition raged through the young woman's veins. She would not be stopped.

Aela rolled over and looked around the room. The healers were gone, and so to was the young boy that she had saved from the angry mother. Somehow, they didn't seem to matter anymore, as she pulled herself to sit up on the bed again. It took her a moment, as reality returned to her, finally forcing her to move off the bed in the infirmary. She took careful steps at first, lightly planting her feet firmly on the floor, as if to cater to injuries that she remembered having, but no longer felt. The healers had already taken care of her wounds, which were now only scars in her mind. Aela made her way outside, having no desire to bother or see if there was any news about the young boy. The day had moved on, and the sky was bright, filled with the vivid reds and yellows of the late evening. Aela stared off into the distance, a serene calm came over her, one unlike that of any who had just returned from such trauma. Something had changed within her, a question had been answered. An epiphany of sorts to something that she had been searching for her entire life it seemed.

It was all so clear to her as she stood at the foot of the infirmary. She understood what she had to do, and there was nothing or anyone who could stop her this time. Turning back, she glared at the structure behind her, emerald green eyes flickered a fiery passion more powerful than any she had ever felt before. There were no words spoken, or even subtle twitches in her features, the young Avora simply turned away and headed back to her room. She made quick pace and entered her room, not wasting any time as she readied herself. She removed the simple brown Vinati and Bryda, likely given to her by the healers to replace the torn and blood soaked shreds of cloth that she had wore when she first arrived. Pausing for only a tick, Aela reached around her bare back, fingers feeling for the scars left by the the eagle's talons. She could easily feel the stitches son into her flesh, and the wound that covered most of her back. It had been a close call, and if not for the quick work of the healers, she wouldn't have made it.

Aela moved into her wardrobe and redressed herself in a red Vinati and black Bryda. Kicking off her sandals, she sat on the end of her bed and strapped on her boots. Standing up again, the teen moved back to her wardrobe and pulled out a medium box from the corner. She quickly ripped the top off and looked inside. A Studded Leather armor piece laid inside. An heirloom left by her family. She would have never thought that she would need it, or even remembered that it was there. However for the task at hand, she needed all the protection that she could get. Taking a few ticks, she shifted the armor over her slender body, and tied the straps in place to hold it to fit her form. Once that was done she took up her quiver and flipped the strap across her body along with her backpack, and lowered her bow into place as she usually did when hunting. The last piece of weaponry to be added was a talon sword that she had bought recently. She hadn't had the chance to practice with it much, but she figured that it could come in handy.

The little huntress then moved toward the covered cage and removed the thin black cloth. Skye, her falcon stood inside perched on the small rod attached to the cage. Their bond was still fairly new and Aela hadn't practiced with him as much as she liked, however she knew that he would do well for the task that she had for him. Her fingers trailed from the cage and down onto the table where the sontav laid. She placed it around her arm and fastened the scraps into place. Glaring down at the bird, a non-verbal communication took place, as if to say that it was time for the falcon to prove it's worth. Taking the cage into her arms, Aela headed out of her room. The walk to the Aeries seemed shorter, as her mind was focused, and nothing else mattered other than proving herself. Her ambition was stronger now than ever before, and she could feel a new energy surging through her body, unlike anything that she had ever felt in her life.

She entered the building, feet stumping forward, and her eyes gleamed something similar to Ivak's own fiery gaze. The room where the mother eagle nested with her egg was empty. After the commotion from before, everyone had left and none had yet returned. Aela stepped inside, her gaze immediately meeting with that of the mother eagles. There was no fear in her, and she didn't waver, even as the giant eagle's voice echoed through her mind, in protest of her visit. The deadly talons scraped and clattered against the floor, it's beak clacking, feathers puffed and ruffled as it started towards the teen. Aela quickly lowered the cage to the floor, and flung the cage door open. Skye dashed out of the cage, he flapped his wings quickly, trying to catch the wind beneath them, as he darted towards the eagle. The falcon closed in on the mighty eagle, clawing at it's head and eyes. A loud and thunderous shrill escaped the eagle as it craned it's neck to avoid the attack, and quickly snapping it's beak in retaliation.

With the eagle focused on defending itself from Skye, Aela removed an arrow from her quiver and slipped it into her bow. She took aim, raising her bow, the arrowhead pointed at the eagles head. There was no hesitation, only the focused in mind needed to make the shot. She fired, the arrow soared through the air and missed the eagle, who continued to move about as it fought off the tiny falcon. Pulling another arrow from her quiver, Aela loaded it and readied herself, before taking another shot. The arrow slipped through the air and sank into the eagle's upper chest. The massive bird squawked loudly, the sound eerie, crashing through the lands of earth and mind alike. Suddenly the eagle turned it's attention back to Aela and started towards her yet again. She moved back, pulling another arrow from her quiver and placing it against her bow. She fired quickly, hoping to wound the eagle before it came closer. However in the quickness of the shot, the arrow slipped just over the eagle. But the determined teen wouldn't not to be put off, and quickly loaded another arrow.

The eagle was faster though, as it quickly dashed forward, closing the distance between them, and forcing Aela to turn and run. She raced as fast as she could towards the exit, with the eagle right behind her snapping at her whenever it felt close enough to do so. Aela continued to run, but escape was not an option. She had come back to take what was rightfully hers, and she would not fail. Once she reached the exit, she turned on her heels, swinging her shoulder around just as she lost her footing and landed on the ground. She slid only a few feet backwards, nimble fingers bringing the arrow back into the bow as she raised it up again. Another loud, ear piercing squawk came from the eagle as it craned it's neck downward, deadly beak opened to snap. Angry golden eyes fell upon fiery red embers, the string of the bow vibrated violently as the arrow was launched clear, cutting through the air with an almost silent whistle, as it disappeared inside the eagles gaping beak.

The squawk became a soft shrill, a whimper of pain as the bird whirled back. It was wounded, although she couldn't tell how badly. Skye returned, a quick dash, talons slicing across the eagles eyes as he hurried toward Aela. The wounded eagle cried out again, suddenly turning back into the room and heading back to it's egg. The mother instincts of the beast kicked in, and as it felt itself fading, protecting the egg was all it could think of. Pushing herself up, Aela hurried behind it as she pushed another arrow into place. She aimed her bow, steady hands to guide the arrow as she fired it. The twirling arrow made it's home deep into the back of the eagle. The pain barely struck the giant bird, only causing a soft grunt as it moved back to it's nest. Another gush of wind blew past her shoulder as Skye dashed towards the eagle again. The eagle snapped it's beak towards the tiny falcon, wings barley expanded as it tried to make itself even bigger.

Aela pulled the talon sword from it's sheath and raced toward the eagle, her arm swung out as she thrust herself into the air, bringing the talon's blade into the lower back of the eagle. The bird shrilled louder, an earth shaking cry filling the room. The once great and power eagle, was now heavily wounded, and only able to see out of one of it's eyes. It twisted and hopped, shrilly and horrid sounds echoing across the room as it scurried about the room. Aela held on as tight as she could, white knuckles turned red as she squeezed the glass handle. The eagle continued to thrash around, trying to fight off the falcon and the sharp pain growing up it's back. Finally with a sharp spin, the little Avora was sent free of it's back and landed in the nest beside the egg. Another cry echoed across the room, followed by a loud crash as the eagle finally lost it's balance and tumbled over in front of the nest.

Looking up, ambition raging eyes stared upon the egg in front of her. It was so beautiful and even more so the potential inside it. She wanted it so, needed it more than life itself. She had to have it, and to do that, she had to finish what she started. Pulling herself up, Aela stepped out of the nest and moved behind the fallen bird and pulled her sword from it' s back. Raising a talon of her own into the air, she violently stabbed the eagle in it's chest. An emotional grunt slipped from the teen's mouth as she whipped the sword back out. Blood gushed forth, covering everything in the single path including the egg. A hollow shrill escaped the birds dieing breath as it laid motionless on the floor. Aela stood over it, watching, panted breaths echoed from her parted lips as her chest heaved heavily.
