A half-collapsed city of alabaster and gold fiercely governed by Eypharians. Even partially ruined, it is the crown of the desert and a worthy testament to old glories and rising powers.

The Farthest West

Image

A customer's first step into this large open-air dyeworks is a step into a world largely unlike the city around it. There is a large abundance of colour, but that is where the similarities stop.

Owned by an Eypharian known for his prudent decisions, The Farthest West is one of the more prominent tanneries/dyeworks in the city. The market gets its name from its location in the city; due to the repulsive smells of the mixtures used to treat the hides and cloth, it is located on the Westernmost outskirts of Ahnatep.

The workshop's proprietor, an Eypharian named Sifre, is as sleazy a salesman as there ever was. His back-alley dealer demeanour is only tempered by his shrewd decision-making; he can often whittle away at a customer's resolve until they pay sums comparable to a princess's dowry for simple cloth. It was with this keen sense for salesmanship that the man grew his humble shop into the large market it is today.

Despite the relative success of the establishment, The Farthest West is far from what would be expected in the hedonistic city of Ahnatep. The market has a dingy quality to it, possibly attributed to the messy qualities of the materials used in the dyeing and tanning processes.

There are two distinct sections of the market: the workshop area, where the hides are tanned and the cloth and leather are dyed, and the shop proper. The workshop is set out in the blazing Eyktolian sun, large vats of different coloured mixtures being used to colour the materials and harden the hides. Men of different races all work in the courtyard workshop, trudging through the disgusting-smelling mixtures al day long.

In the shop proper, large racks of multicoloured leather and cloth block the majority of the sun, yet trap the heat within the narrow corridors of the market. The odor is less pronounced in this area, but still noticeable. There is a table in the very centre of the shop, where Sifre and his assistants sit in order to help customers. When a sale is made, the owner sends a runner, usually a small boy, to take the mizas to his small office in one of the surrounding buildings.

The price of each piece must be negotiated with Sifre or one of his assistants, and runners may be provided for large orders (for an extra fee, of course). At any time, there are 3 assistants and 4 runners working the market; however, they are often transient positions, with different runners and assistants every week.

NPCS :
Sifre
Age: 42
Race: Eypharian
Gender: Male
Occupation: Proprietor of The Farthest West

An Eypharian man of middle age, proprietor of The Farthest west. He has no affiliations of note, but is a very shrewd businessman nonetheless. His sleazy, back-alley demeanour has kept him from being approached by any of the Houses of the Four Winds, but he still runs his establishment like the best of the Four Winds' businesses. He treats his workers fairly well, despite his haughty attitude; he knows that without the men under him, the dyeworks he owns would be nothing. He often wears excessive amounts of jewelry and paints his face in a fashion that could only be described as gaudy, trying to imitate those of higher social stature. He dresses in shades of brown, cream, gold, and emerald.

Tanning - 34 XP
Philtering - 34 XP (Creation of Dyes)
