Orion oocI think I’m just going to finish up my med stuff and call it good for Orion, if you don’t mind. It seems like the actual purpose of this thread kinda fell apart. :| Sorry for how long this is. And for how long it took me. Medical stuff is daunting sometimes. Lemme know if I went too far with assuming character actions. I’m really just trying to wrap this up, so I ended up concluding the entire thing. Lemme know if you want me to make changes. Thanks! Orion was thankful he'd brought his equipment with him and left it on the boat. Not that the doctor was a huge fan of a boat. He never felt on balance when on a seafaring vessel. Getting that she-Zith off the boat was a victory in its own, but now it was time to treat this patient. Medical bags in hand, he carefully made his way across the slippery stone which made up the area that was the docks. Enough time had passed since the injuries to that woman that Orion was unsure just how much he’d really be able to treat her. She’d only had the absolutely bare basics of treatment done by Kirvan, and for how serious the injuries were… “Alright, let’s get this taken care of,” Orion said as he returned to Kirvan and the injured half Zith. She was looking worse, if it was possible. I hope Zith or whatever this is can be healed by the same means as Humans. Orion had heard of people having reactions like rashes, swelling, or even something as bad as death from something that would have no negative effect on a different person. “I’m gonna start with the injuries around the ribs.” With that, Orion began his work. He would need to treat her up some before taking her to the Soothing Waters for better treatment than he could give her here. Taking small bottles from his kit he prepared to heal her as best he could. Angelica was the name of the day. One of the containers had a green plant with white flowers in it, dried and ready for use. Pulling out a small mortar and pestle, Orion added the herbs to the stone dish. Taking the other piece, he began to grind, grind, and grind, holding the bowl firmly as he turned the large flowers and plant matter slowly into a bunch of smaller pieces. When the plant was broken up, he was far from done. The scraping of the stone on stone was drowned in the gentle sound of water and cool wind, but there the doctor sat, using the tool to create a hopingly life giving powder. Powder did the plant become, and that’s what Orion needed to work with. Taking some bandages in hand, Orion unwound the protective fabric and prepared to work. The powder was added to the bottom of the bandage and he was ready to wind it around her. “Kirvan, if you would help by lifting her, I need to wrap her.” When he was helped, Orion began to cover the half Zith’s ribs, pulling the bandaging tight. “Sorry about that, but it’s for the better. We need to make sure your ribs heal naturally.” The next thing he needed to do was secure the arm. Once that was done they could move her the longer distance from the docks to the medical facility. Moving over to give the arm a good examination, Orion gingerly grabbed her wrist with one hand, supporting her shoulder with the other, and slowly moved it. There was severe bruising and discoloring around her forearm, suggesting at the least there was a fracture. The pain of his movement would only enforce this idea, but he needed to have the arm in a natural position lest it heal incorrectly. Orion noted her arm seemed lighter than most of the same size. In general the woman had been easier to move, to be honest. Perhaps it was related to her Zith blood? Orion had heard that full Zith were lighter for the sake of flight. Did a half Zith have to live with the weakness of the bones without the benefit of flight? He crossed the arm carefully over her chest, putting the hand on her opposite shoulder, forcing her to grip the fabric of her shirt. In any sort of bone injury it was vital to make sure bones, joints, and muscles were all in as natural of state as possible. In long term recovery one would regain full use of their body much easier if that was the case. So that meant a bent arm was better than a straight one, and a closed hand was better than an open one. With her arm in place he once again took the bandaging and began to wrap. Her arm needed to be held firmly in place as to prevent any further injury to the already severely wounded woman. Round and round the fabric went until Orion was finally content with the structure and solidness of his work. “Alright, Kirvan. This is as good as I want to try and do out here on the docks. Her most severe injuries are taken care of. I don’t know if there’s anything internal, so we’ll take her and get her to the Soothing Waters where we can get her fully treated. I might need to hand her off to a healer at this point. If there’s something that actually is internal, well, that’s far beyond my skill. The joys of magic, right?” He shook his head. It was all that he could do, so hopefully it would be enough. “If you would, help me get her there. We’ll need to carry her much like last time, but her arm is stable now, so it’ll be much easier to move her. Nice and steady.” Orion slipped his bags over his shoulder and got in position at her head. “Lemme know when you’re ready and we’ll be on our way.” When Kirvan stated his preparedness, the three would make their way to Orion’s place of work. The walk took considerably longer this time around, but once they finally arrive, the relief was visible on Orion’s face. She wasn’t nearly as light as she initially seemed. At least not over a long distance. I need to work out. A common thought which he never followed through on. After handing the she Zith off to the medical personnel at the Soothing Waters, Orion turned to Kirvan. “And that’s my part. Don’t know how you come across a woman like that, but I must say I’m quite impressed you picked her up. Most around these parts would see her and turn their noses. I did what I could for her, but I could tell her frame and build were just not quite the same as a human’s. Regardless, good on you. Got yourself a good heart there. I’m going to go get cleaned up, but if you ever find yourself in need of a doctor, you know where to find me.” With that, Orion gave the sailor a wave and turned to head into one of the back rooms of the bathhouse. A bath of his own was on tap for this day. |
