[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Postby Lucy Tides on March 8th, 2013, 1:18 am

Lucy's sat and listened to her new found friends. Watching them closely because there wasn't much to look at in the tavern. She couldn't help but notice how the Fallon seemed to enjoy staring at the mugs and how open Perc was. She laughed and smiled, flipping a long black curl in front of her left shoulder. 'It seems that there is always good honest folk here in Syliras.' Lucy licked her lips and shook her head realizing that these people wouldn't know sea talk. She was about to explain when a waitress came up to deliver Perc's mug. She shook her head at the waitress question, the waitress left.

"A pod is another saying for family or crew. I'm planning on going on an adventure. The sixty-third of Spring to be exact. Going to set sail into the Suvan and see where the wind takes me." Lucy explained. A sudden screech made Lucy's head turn just in time to see a woman walk up to their table. She laughed at the woman's last comment and noticed that she knew who the first person to sit down on the table was. 'Interesting...' Without waiting for Fallon to approve of this new woman with green eyes, Lucy held out her hand. "Lucy Tides." She said and awaited for the woman's hand.

Fallon gave a low chuckle before taking a swig of her new concution that she had created. Perc was right about the Knights, they were hard on people like them afterall people like them were harder to mould than those who were younger. She took a mouthful and swirled the beer around before swallowing.
Not as smooth as the light, but sweeter than the dark. It will do I guess.
"Thank you for explaining to us land walkers, I'll make sure to try and remember that."

But then this woman appeared, an eye-candy to the male kind. Or some at least. Her eyes glanced briefly at Perc, then slid back to the redhead. There was something about this woman that made Fallon uneasy, this aura of confidence that seemed to be lust driven. What lust however was beyond Fallon at this point, so she labeled it under as a mystery for the meanwhile. Her eyes narrowed, eyes darting about as she took in what was there, her mind contemplating on how to react.

Maybe it's the alcohol making me feel this. Not sure. I'll play it safe for now.
She met the eyes of the woman, unwavering even as Lucy spoke and introduced herself. If anything it gave her more time to think and work through the alcohol that rested in her.
"As I said to Lucy, it's a free city, so sit if you wish," the corner of her lip curled as she spoke "You're paying for your own drinks though."

[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Postby Perc on March 8th, 2013, 6:32 pm

Perc figured it was safe again to put his mug down when the conversation at the table didn't seem lessenend or that neither of the women where staring at him strangly.
"Thats pretty cool too know...." Perc started to talk, only to hold his tongue when his tired brain kicked into overdrive and linked together what she just said. "Wait does that mean your entire family kicked the bucket?" Perc blurted out in genuine horror at that realization.
Without missing a beat the oblivious farmboy continued. "How in Bala's name do you hold yourself up like that?"

He was pretty flabbergasted at the fact that somebody could just casually throw up the fact their entire family died. Was it that common among the svefra? Or was the wound already scarred over? "Or is that something that just happens more often among the svefra? I mean, I can figure that since on the seas there always can happen those big storms. And me dad always said that no matter how good a farmer you where only a single case of bad luck and some shitty weather and your entire crop is ruined. I guess the same can apply to sailing and stuff." only when fall and lucy acknowledged the woman perc noticed the newcomer sitting down. He gave her a tired smile. "Nice meeting you too, perc oakshield." Then he turned his attention back to the baffling conundrum before him.

[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Postby Azcadelia on March 8th, 2013, 7:58 pm

"'Tis a free city they say but sometimes I think otherwise," Azcadelia said as she sat down in the chair, releasing the hand of Lucy. She heard the woman drinking from the unimpressive mug, which held chocolate coloured ale, say she had to buy her own drinks. She said in return, "Of course, I only swindle my drinks from the lonely patrons of this prestigious establishment." Her words were mixed with sarcasm, truth and frankness.

"Yes, yes, nice to meet you Perc, a squire are you?" Azcadelia asked, making small talk, she held no real interest in the man's profession. The magus was much more interested in the girl drinking, a frankness aura about her. A tough cookie or just a brutally honest soul. Either way, she liked it. The shorter woman would prove to be a amusing acquaintance. "Where are my manners, I'm Azcadelia Rosan, but you can call me Azzy," she said to the whole table, her jade eyes bouncing from one member to the next.

[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Postby Lucy Tides on March 8th, 2013, 8:42 pm

Lucy couldn't hold a straight face, her bright eyes seem to look out across the room, as if stuck in the past. Her hand fell from Azzy's and her smile disappeared as she looked once again at Perc who just finished introducing himself to the new woman. She folded her hands in her lap and took a deep breathe. "Death is common among all, not one can hide from their fate. To blubber on like a whale when one's whole life is taken away by such fate won't do them any good. I must hold my head high and begin anew." Lucy said in the best common she could muster, but her words sounded like her mother's. A tear ran down her left cheek and she quickly wiped it away but refused to move her eyes from Perc's.

"If you're asking me if I'm okay, I will say no. But, I have accepted their fate and must move on to survive." Lucy said and sighed. 'Such dark conversations for so early a night.' "On a lighter subject, you're a squire? I would love to learn how to fight with weapons or hand to hand." Lucy said and gave a light smile, obviously trying to change the subject.

At this point Fallon lowered her mug and shot a glare across it to Perc. Although she said nothing, it was clear in both her expression and the way her back straightened that she was disapproving of Perc’s rather thoughtless twittering. The mug was placed down with a satisfying clunk however, and Fallon turned her attention to Azcadelia. Small talk was made, with pleasant introductions. Or at least that’s what the woman made them out to be. Fallon traced a finger around the top of the mug, her eyes looking down at the half full contents as she flickered through her mind.
Keep track of the words Fallon. Slow your drinking and listen carefully.

Her ears twitched at the words of Lucy, the rising up of a deep emotional pain. Although Fallon would never speak it, she understood it herself. She have loved and lived, whilst others precious to her had been lost through one means or another. But that rested in the past, and was a dark subject left better off unmentioned. Besides, it was those painful situations that had moulded her into the person she was today. But then a question was asked once more.

“You’re right. He is a squire,” Fallon spoke almost calmly, her other hand reaching down to Orvin when he started whining again “Not sure how good of one though. Though I’m sure he’s quite capable of doing squire things.”
The pup so far had been well behaved, but after a few chimes of behaving his want for attention was apparent. Her fingers gently scratched at his fur whilst her eyes looked once more at the others.

[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Postby Perc on March 9th, 2013, 12:08 pm

Even perc couldn't look past the fact he just brought up a really bad memory after he saw the look on the woman's face, especially when she actually cried at the memory. Couple in the fact that Fall's glare was nearly boring a hole in him and the large squire really wanted to disappear. But since he wasn't able to vanish in thin air he simpely settled for taking another large gulp from his ale to try and hide his embarrassment.

He was quite relieved when the woman didn't take any offense and just shifted the topic to something lighter.
"Yes I'm a squire, haven't been one for very long though. Got accepted on the 6th and I have been drilled into the ground by ser ramones since then." Perc started to talk again, hoping to wipe away the bad taste that his former contribution to the conversation had left in Fall's mood. As far as he could see anyway. "I'm not that good with how to fight,I just know what I learned from getting into scraps at home and got a good punch from working in the fields and such things. ser ramones hasn't given any attention on how to really fight yet, I have been running around the training grounds with full plate armor on and lifting weights. I have no clue why he also hasn't been training me in how to use an axe as well. But I'm sure he has his reasons for that."Perc admitted without any shame.

[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Postby Azcadelia on March 9th, 2013, 5:38 pm

Azcadelia watched how Lucy's expression had hardened at the words of the squire, Perc. Perc hid his face behind his drink before speaking again, this time confirming Azcadelia's suspicions as to if he was a squire. She needed to find a squire, she had wanted to become some use for the Knights, of espionage uses, but she didn't know how to seek it out; maybe Perc could help. Of course she would wait for a more appropriate time to ask.

The table was quiet, contradicting to the seemingly ever growing wildness of the tavern. Azcadelia was growing annoyed with the patrons, she felt her head and body being bored through with interested eyes. The magus wanted to lash out at them, Reimancy and all, too bad that'd get her kicked out; she didn't need a reputation in her hometown.

"How long have you all been in Syliras, the great city?" she asked, her tone sarcastic. As Azcadelia waited for an answer from each of them a barmistress came around the table again, Azcadelia snapped her fingers at the woman and motioned her over. "Bring me two glasses of wine please, the most and least aged you have." The barmistress hovered over the table for a time waiting to see if the other's wanted anything.

[The Rearing Stallion] A choice of light and dark

Lucy was about to answer Perc when Azzy asked them a question. She turned her eyes to Azzy, a small smile on her face. "Since the end of winter, so not that long I guess." Lucy said and shifted her eyes back to Perc. Tapping her fingers on the table, Lucy was at a loss for what to tell him.

"Well, I mean if you can't even run around in the armor, what's the point of giving you a heavy weapon?" Lucy asked and noticed the barmaid come around. She held out her hand to wave the lady over letting her cravings get the best of her. "Can I get a mug of dark ale? Thank you." Lucy said and stopped tapping her fingers on the table, resting them on her lap. 'I wonder if I should ask them if they knight trainer would teach me how to fight? Probably not since I don't plan on staying on land for the rest of my life to be a knight.'

Fallon’s ears perked at the tone used by Azcadelia, a flare of annoyance and sarcasm running through. But for the most part she appeared disinterested, her eyes focused on Orvin. The pup gave a whine, before forcing his paws up onto the table top, his nose poking over the edge and his eyes staring out at all who were there. He looked a little surprised to see the faces again, but then excitement and curiosity took over him once more. A low thud could be heard from where his tail beat against the chair, a quiet pant upon his lips.
Fallon gave a sigh, before speaking firmly “Orvin, down,” His ears flattened for a moment before he lowered himself down to the floor, and received a second pet from Fallon “Good boy…”

“I myself have been in the city for only a few days,” Fallon answered “However, I have spent time within its walls before.”
She watched the barmaid take their orders and return after a few chimes with their drinks; the two glasses of wine and the dark ale. Fallon herself however turned her eyes once more to the beer that was before her.
“It’s training of the muscle still, and it’s also the conditioning of the body. For swinging a weapon is one thing, but carrying armour on top is another situation all together,” Fallon rubbed at her brow as she said this “Fortunately, they have a bit more common sense when it comes to little me.”
It was indeed common sense; to start with Perc was far taller and stronger than her, it was clear in the amount of muscle he had in comparison to her. She raised the mug once more and drained its contents, wiping away the froth whilst giving a careful look at the others.
Training, training, training. Lucy is certainly curious about it, Fallon mused as she stared down into the empty depths, But this other… I’m still not sure. Small talk? Boredom? What does she want…?
“Damn, looks like I’m out,” Fallon gave a mutter as she lowered the mug.
