| Timestamp: 12th Day of Spring, 513 AV Something Avii wanted to do so very badly was to explore Sunberth and its internal secrets. Sadly, the day she had arrived within Sunberth’s city limits she had become overwrought with fatigue and famine that she quickly plunged into locating her kill, finished eating her newly caught meal, and dove into a long slumber just as soon as the near sparks of sunrise were showing above the daft buildings, all of which were abandoned and broken, shattered beyond repair. Avii had started today by waking up inside of a large, rotted log that had fallen to the ground more than a few years ago. She knew not how she wound up where she was, but latently patted herself on the back for knowing a safe place to sleep unguarded… of sorts. The sky was dull, the sun starting to reside off in the distance, failing to keep its vibrant rays above surface as it slowly sunk below sea level. Avii wanted nothing more than to observe the habits of the people of Sunberth. She knew that this city had been known for being uncontrollable, rogue since the longest of time. She knew that thieves, bandits and high-class criminals loitered the alleys of which were tainted with years of dried blood. She knew that murderers, drunks, cheats and arsonists walked secretly among all the others throughout the city, of which had been collapsing from the years of misuse. She knew all of this, and yet, for some reason oblivious to her, she was curious, intrigued even to venture off her secluded branch and take on the danger. So she did just that, grabbing her backpack, as it previous laid accompanying by her side. Avii hastily crawled out of the tight log, of which was covered in moss, algae and scat. Out of the temporary shelter, Avii then began to search through her large backpack, overflowing with utensils and necessary equipment. She tried to search for her dark cloak, but gave up when her searches failed. Oh yeah, Avii thought to herself, embarrassed at her arrogant actions. She reached up to fid that she was indeed wearing her black cloak as realised. From the previous night she needed more coverage when hunting for her prey, and had forgotten to take it off. It had proved more useful that just a simple disguise when Avii grew too tired to reach in her backpack and cover herself with her winter blanket. It had also provided as a sheild against the hail-like pour of rain that cascaded from the night’s sky. I knew that, she gushed, feeling her face heat up. To distract herself, she separated her wings that had been folded behind her back, and took off into the orange inferno that represented itself as the temporary sky. ______________________________________ Arriving in Sunberth proved to be much easier than Avii had first assumed. There was no need to escape into bushes or to hide until guards had passed. Sunberth’s rumours about a chaotic little town without much supervision were true. True, was the gossip about how this lowly town had erupted in a bonfire of riots, too many to count. And now, Avii was about to be waist deep in it as she slipped through an alley way, unnoticed. Her back was arched, trying not to be seen as she slid over to the right side, concealing herself with the mask of a crate, from a weary eye of an old sailer. The sailor was tall and had unkempt hair, fading grey from it’s original brunette tone. His eyes were a crystal blue that spoke of many sea adventures. He had a scraggly beard that was much to Avii’s knowledge, the proper look of a sailor. Next to this man was a stand and another gentlemen. Traders. This town was known for its trading as well as its smuggling, riots, violence… and mobs. Avii continued to stay hidden, taking in her surroundings and observing the people kept within their limits. She caught sight of two elderly women walking past, wearing black veils, their eyes darkened with fear, their lips not parting to be engaged in a friendly conversation. From the rumours Avii had heard, friendly conversation wasn’t untrustworthy. Everyone was, and if you let your guard down for a split second, you could become one with the walls… blood dried to a pulp. This interested Avii and her darker side. Another woman came drifting down the walkway, staggering slightly behind the two elder women whom remained expressionless and still non-verbal. The thing that struck Avii’s attention the most where her eyes and the shade or colour they were. They were a strange yellow. Similar to hers. |
