Just as a head's up, I know there's a lot of mod stuff waiting on me. Unfortunately we are in super-heavy prep time at my job, and I am learning the awful joys of 17-hour workdays.

It is Thursday night, almost Friday morning, right now. I won't be available tomorrow, but I am done with this particular leg at 5pm on Saturday and will likely spend all evening catching up, and then I have most of Monday and then all of Tuesday night into Wednesday off. So expect me to get a bunch of stuff done this week. I'm still managing to reply to PMed questions, so if you really need to know something please feel free to send me a quick PM and I'll get to you within a few hours if I can, but thread posts will have to wait until Saturday.

My apologies for all of this, but this is the last week before we get 100 kids flooding the camp and I have to make sure everything's in shape - plus I have to train all the new people. So... yeah, hectic. I'ma go get some sleep now.

Hello Syliras!

I am now officially done with my summer job. Let the rejoicing begin!

However, I am currently staying on a friend's couch and waiting for my subletters to move out so I can get back in my apartment. So I am declaring the next week Dusk's Prep Time. I will be replying to all of my open threads, grading XP, and going through all the scenes you guys have been playing over the last few weeks to make sure everything's caught up and copacetic. I am giving myself until August 25th to finish my prep time, and then you can start bombarding me with new requests for threads and adventures and the like. So please be patient, give me just a few more days, and then your lives will be made super awesome with my amazingly spectacular ideas for Syliras.

Okay so... that whole August 25th deadline? Yeah, totally didn't make that. But you'll be happy to know that I am now past the "No really, I'll get back to it" phase and am actually back to it, peeps!

So, first thing's first:

New Season!

Welcome to Fall! The weather's getting colder and the Knights are less cranky now that they're not boiling in their armor.

Anyone who was employed in Syliras during Summer 510AV needs to send me a PM telling me (a) What your character's job was, (b) What the agreed-upon salary was, (c) What time period they worked during [so if they only worked 30th Fall to 56th Fall, I need to know that to calculate], and (d) links to threads showing that your character actually worked. I will reply with your Seasonal Wages and add it to your Storyteller Secrets thread. Please note! If you do not go through this process, you do not get to add wages to your CS. And yes, I will be checking. This includes the Knights as well, so don't think you get off that easily.

Okay, here's the deal: Syliras has a LOT of players and not very many people to moderate. So in order to make sure that we're using our time and energy wisely, here's a few basic rules on what you should consider before asking me or Lev to mod a scene for you:

Do you really need a mod? - If you're just doing a training thread or buying something in a shop, you should be able to self-mod that. If you and another PC want to get in a fight, you should be able to self-mod that so long as you keep in mind that any overt violence will catch the attention of the guards. Make sure that you actually need a mod for your scene, because we take a while to post and it might be better to handle it yourself rather than wait for us to reply. You are of course welcome to run any questions or ideas by me via PM and I will weigh in.

Do you have a group? - If you want to go on an adventure, it's always better to have a couple of people with you. Frankly, there's gonna be some badass stuff going on in a moderated thread, and one person alone likely won't be able to handle it. Plus if you have three or four people on your adventure that's even more people to make it awesome with personality and plot!

Are you ready to see your character decimated? - I'm not saying this is going to happen. What I'm saying is that if you ask me to run an adventure, it's going to be an amazing and challenging experience. Your character is going to have to be clever, to make decisions, to take chances, and be willing to put it all out there in order to accomplish their goal. If you give me all of that, you will be rewarded. If your character stares blankly at the bad guy and wonders what they should do for three paragraphs and then doesn't actually do anything, they're going to have awful things happen to them. If you want an adventure in Syliras, be ready to be proactive and participate in it - I'm not going to just tell you a story about your character. I'm going to give you the tools to have an amazing experience with your character, and it's up to you whether or not you build something awesome or stab yourself in the foot with a screwdriver. Just to, you know, keep the tool metaphor going.

Rules

Everyone please take a minute to read over the Rules of Posting once more just to be sure that you know what's going on. These will be enforced going forward, and while I will be totally cool and nice the first two or three times the rules are broken, after that I'm going to be not-so-nice about it. I want everyone to have fun, and part of what makes us able to do that is abiding by the social contract. Enjoy yourselves, have a great time, but make sure that you're doing what you're supposed to!

This is a quick post to clarify how the Wild Streets threads will work.

Near the end of each season, I will post up a thread called "Wild Streets". The current one is "Wild Streets - Spring/Summer 510 AV". Anyone whose characters are at base criminals in Syliras for the season specified, i.e. thieves, beggars, con artists, gamblers, killers, etc., will need to post in this thread. So anyone who was a dirty low-down bad guy for Summer 510AV needs to post.

Here's a few quick things to remember:

You only need to post one "adventure" per season; if your character is both a beggar and a thief, pick one of those and use it as the base for your Wild Streets scene.

These are not for flashbacks. If you started playing your character in Fall 510AV, you don't need to post retroactively in the Summer WS thread. Just wait until November and get in on the Fall thread.

This is the only way for people to earn seasonal wages or XP for illegal activity in Syliras. Otherwise you'll only make money from individual thread awards.

Okay, I hope that helped clear up some of the confusion I've been seeing over the last couple of days! Also, to those who've posted in the thread who haven't gotten a reply from me, you should be getting one in the next day or two.

Hello everyone! It's a busy week for me, so I promise I will get to all your requests soon. Just have to get through my test.

As a note, I know that everyone is totally into Tarot's unfailingly cool BBC tabs for Skills in your character sheets. They look awesome, I know. However, they make it a bit more complicated for me to look up your skills in order to grade your threads for XP - especially when you categorize them under different names and I have to hunt to find what skills you already have at what levels. I've asked a few people to help me out on an individual level, but since I'm seeing more people using the tabs I thought I'd just make an announcement request.

If you use the tabs, please put a spoiler underneath it with your skills in list format just so it's a little easier for me to look at. This isn't a requirement, since your CS is your CS to do with as you please, but I would really appreciate it just to make things a little faster for me.

As an example, please see Jaeden Kincade's Skill post in his CS. If you'll notice, he has his skills in tabs at the top, and at the bottom has a spoiler called "Mod Skill Reference". This is all I need, just something I can look at all at once to figure out what you've got. Also, if you wanted to be super-extra awesome and arrange it alphabetically, I will totally give you a prize. Or some sort. I'll think of something.

So yes, again, just a request to help make my life a little easier and help me grade your threads more quickly. Thanks, and keep having fun in Syliras!

As we are now more than a month into Fall, I am officially closing the Wild Streets Spring/Summer thread to new entries. I will finish out any open plotlines in the next week, but everything should be good.

If you are being a dirty low-down criminal in the Fall, you can expect a new thread to open in December!

A location thread for The Tank is now up. As a note, this is a jail, so you can only post there if you've been thrown in it by a Knight - meaning more than likely, the first post for you will be an introductory post by an ST about how you got shoved in.

I've also finished the Wiki for Council of Three and have put in skeletons for the NPCs involved in that. The NPC pages should be completed by next week. The Council will NOT have a location in Syliras - instead, if you are seen before the Council you'll get your own thread started by an ST.

Also, if you have requests for anything in Syliras to be developed that isn't on my Office To-Do List, please post in the OOC thread and I'll let you know how doable it is.
