"Taloba has stood for centuries, in many forms. Some glorious... some gratefully forgotten..."

Taloba, home to the Myrians, is the thriving core of Falyndar. Inhabited by a fierce and savage tribe where blood sacrifices are normal and a way of life, they are untamed and proud of it. Warlike, and with their numbers growing, the Myrians are set on reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. [Lore]

"Goddess, you are such a bastard, Izzrak!"

Mikari knows she isn't meant to use words like that, but sometimes her cousin can only be described using that bad word. Longer legs, bigger muscles, and he was using both to outrun her on the way back to their clan. He flashed a smile over his shoulder, face almost demonic in the torchlight, and Mikari's own contorted in anger.

"You promised you wouldn't run!"

"I'm making it fun!"

Izzrak heard another dirty word fast on the heels of the first and just laughed. Females were so serious all the time, and soon his little cousin would be bossing him around like all the others. So why not get in his fun while he could?

The two youths skidded around the hulking stone pyramid, kicking up sand and dust everywhere. The streets of Taloba were beyond deserted: not even animals or insects seemed to prowl them. The torches kept them away and aside from the occasional distant crunch of marching feet, the army on patrol as always, there was a strange silence in this deep, dark hour.

"Not my fault you finished late!" The boy said with a smirk, shattering the quiet. "I even waited for you! Consider this payback!"

"Arsehole!"

"Such language! Why-"

The ground trembled under his feet and something screamed behind him. Or tried to. It never gained the full urgent horror of a real scream, because a blink later, gravity and darkness robbed his little cousin of that.

Izzrak whirled, hand going to the short knife on his belt... but there was no-one. Not his cousin. Not an attacker.

Nothing but a hole in the ground that wasn't there before.

"Mi... Mikari?"

Disbelief was gripping him, a prelude to the panic to come. He stepped forward, some part of him thinking that he needed to be careful less there be more holes... but he could not flee. His cousin...

"Mik-Mikari, where are you?!"

Something moaned. Or whined. Or screamed. The sounds reverberated off each other and formed one nameless, formless auditory ooze from the jagged mouth that had formed in the side street. The male crouched down, dagger aimed at the shadowy hole as if he could slash apart the darkness...

"M... Mikari!" He shouted into the hole, hearing naught but his own voice digging deeper into the ground in echoes. "Answer me!"

Something did. Not a screech, or a hiss, or growl, but... something. Something old and angry at being disturbed, but grateful for the sustenance. Something that he could hear moving over the rocks below, encompassed in darkness, a sliding like metal or bone over stone grating his ears...

Something close. Enough that his nostrils curled at the fetid breath and bile rose in his throat-

"Goddess!"

Izzrak hurled himself back as something of bone or metal scythed through the place he had been, ripping out another section of the hole, stones and sand falling for a hundred years into that bottomless hole. Fear overrode panic now, the sheer size of that weapon driving away all other thoughts but-

-flight.

Izzrak of the Roaring Tigers ran through the empty streets, begging and crying and screaming for someone to wake him from his nightmare.

The snotty child known as Shesha was simply strolling when all of a sudden something big just happened and a kid is just running the Petch out of there. It was Izzrak of all people. She could only recount time of when the kid was messing around, the two didn't play much so she knew more of him then anything.

"That petching fool... Finally became interesting." She said to herself in a sort of surprised sarcasm.

Before he could get past her, her foot flew out with the quickness. The boys face hit with an impact that metaphorically be felt on the other side of the globe.

"Tell me what happened or I'll become you're greatest fear. I don't like missing when something interesting happens." She said this staring into his face with the darkest of gazes... Literally. She was hoping he'd become useful for something!

"Sh-Shesha, you gotta, you gotta, come, come here, please... hey! C'mon! FOLLOW ME, YOU FUCKING BITCH!"

Izzrak was in no frame of mind to be intimidated by some diminutive little troll tonight. Usually he would have given Shesha a wide berth, like the other youngsters. She was... different, and the children knew that on the instinctive, animal level they knew many thing. She did not often play games, and regarded the world with eyes that always burned.

He'd seen her wear the same smile while receiving a gift and beating someone in the practice ring. It was all the same to her.

She frightened him. But not tonight.

Her attempts at intimidation were utterly useless in the face of his stark, mindless terror, and he was already running back the way he came, dagger almost an afterthought in his shaking hand.

"C'MON!"

He half-begged, half-screamed and was already running back to the hole. The male had tears running down his face and his heart was pounding so hard it was fit to smash his ribs, but grief and a slowly rising anger was driving his hammering feet.

"She needs me! She needs us!"

One desperate, the other reluctant, two young Myrians raced back to the gaping void in the heart of Taloba. They were not the only ones.

Izzrak was shoving her and tugging. None the less she needed answers, so she let him until they got to the mouth of the cave. Once they were there then she stopped then and there "Oi, I'll eat you too, I don't care if it's against the rules. Now what happened, and where is Mikari? She's usually playing with you and she's the smart one... By about a hair."

It seemed that he didn't reply "I'm not gonna spoon feed ya fool, petching spill it already!" Based on what she knew she deduced that it was Mikari who was acting up. What exactly was the problem was she couldn't tell, all she knew was that this whole was really important right now.

Then a women came in nozy as well. She called her a kid which wasn't exactly welcomed. "Oi, isn't it rude to call your superior little one? I can forgive you this time, but it'd be best for you to actually learn the lesson." She said seriously as though it were the truth. She was only 13 so it wasn't exactly what you'd expect to see.

OOC:Shesha has black sclera and purple irises... So she has a pretty scary gaze. Rather unnatural looking when she looks at you.

Izzrak heard the voices - one piercing and impatient, the other smoother and coaxing - but they were nothing but mosquitoes buzzing next to his ears.

For they were back at the hole, and his eyes and soul and everything else were focused on that black void.

Fear was curling around his insides like Dhani, squeezing but not paralyzing. Izzrak was, after everything, still just a boy, barely eleven summers in the world and while Myrian children hardened much faster than others by that age... no-one would have expected them to endure what he just did.

His cousin was gone, probably dead. A monster had taken her. And it was all his fault...

"We must go down there." He said finally, grief and anger and guilt overwhelming his fear. "She... My cousin... She is down there..."

Running feet approaching them. Deeper, older voices, adults who would tell them to stay back, go home, not interfere, and all the while his cousin would be dying. Fear gripped him anew, the fear and indignation that his own people, perhaps even valiant soldiers of Taloba, would be the ones to hasten her-

"We go." He said bluntly, tucking his dagger into his belt and peering into the hole. No noise now... perhaps whatever it was had gone elsewhere? But it was so dark. "Shesha? You must... You must come! You can use your fire to light the way." The other, older female was fixed with a firmer glance. She would probably try to stop them. "I am going. My cousin is down there. You can't stop me."

Right then, at that moment, something hissed and moaned at once from further in the darkness. All heard it... and the faintest whisper on the stagnant air that could have been a sob...

Sheshna heard the boys words and the careful timing of the knifes removal. She snickered at the girls growl a bit. She knw of the two she was likely to be most dangerous. She relished it. She then even created a flame, it started out pretty big but got small really fast, about the size of a match.

"I have light if we need it hehe heh." She was taunting Rohka now, just her style too. She didn't need to burn up her djed though in a sunny place so even the match-sized flame went out.

The noise hadn't fazed her. It was noticed though, and it drew her closer to the whole. "Interesting no..." she let slip out. "Woman, find us some rope. Earn your name..." referring to the fact that she heard the ladies name but refused to call her by it. She wasn't easily impressed and her respect was earned.

She wandered around, waiting for the lady to do as she was told. In her family her dad told her mom what to do all the time. She listened because dad was stronger. Might made right, mom knew this and followed this ancient yet still true law. However in all this she found a bit of whimsy. She even let out a little song her mother would sing all the time. She kept it low as others typically didn't appreciate it.

"In the warring of our vicious souls,
Over good shall we all prevail,
Bringing existance crashing down,
Heed the chaos and then joy about,
Make your enemies hollow,
Bringing goriest destruction,
To breath within the mayhem,
Keep your clarity in weapons,
And their blindness,
Till they falter and die..."

Goddess save me from feuding females...

Izzrak all but hopped from one foot to another, waiting for the two females to stop their pointless bickering and posturing and just help him. Didn't they know what was at stake? Didn't they care?

Well, no. But why would they?

"No, we don't need it," he said quickly, eager to speed this up and peering down by the light of Shesha's djed-flame, "The sides of the hole... there's hand holds. We can get down easily enough, I think. Just... keep the flame going, She."

He didn't wait for a response, or invite a debate. If there was any hope his cousin was alive - and how his heart twisted in his chest when he thought of her face - they had to move quickly. The boy lowered his feet gently down... so strange how the fear was gone now... only dislodged rocks cracking downwards... getting fainter and fainter... boy half-imagining his feet to be bitten off by a mouth of evil teeth...

"... we go." He said finally, all but whispering, each limb questing in the half-shadow for a secure hold before he started moving. "We go down..."

Izzrak led by example, not wanting to, but choosing to, heading down the hole and into darkness-

Then stopped. The running feet were getting closer... just around the corner!

"Quick!" He rasped urgently, glimpsing the bobbing shadows of torch-carrying guards getting larger from a street away. "Before they get here and stop us!"
