The Weightlifter. (Part 1)

Summer, 26, 513 AV

The Summer, 26th day... It's just like any other day. Our 18 year-old ViKtoricus is just doing another one of his workout.

But he's delicate about it. He respects the weights. He worships Izurdin with deep passion, and is thankful for the existence of metal weights. Right now, he is preparing for his workout session... Well, not first as in his very first time working out. He's been working out since he was 13. It's his first workout of a 16-week training program that his great great great step grandfather developed. That's why he is strong. He can lift a heavy barbell from the floor that is 315 pounds up to over his head. It is thanks to his stepfather and his sheer grit that he became such a beast. And he has no plans on stopping.

After a heavy meal of duck meat (his favorite), he begins to prepare for his workout. He begins a series of stretches, starting with a squatting down while he's in a wide stance to stretch his groin. It's a deep stretch. And then he stretches his inner thighs. And then he stands upright. While he's upright, he reaches for his toes. This is to stretch his hamstrings and lower back. He then stretches his calves.

Done with the lower-body stretches. Now comes the upper-body.

He stretches his shoulders, chest, and forearms... That's it. Now it's time to move some heavy metal.

The Weightlifter. (Part 1)

Postby ViKtoricus on June 26th, 2013, 11:38 pm

ViKtoricus grabs a 45-pound barbell and puts it on his trapezius muscles. He squats up and down with it many many times. It's almost weightless, but it provides a good warm-up. He's just letting the bloodflow go on. After 3 sets of 20 reps, he breaks a sweat. That's a good sign.

He then carries the weight with his hands with a wide grip and does some hang snatches. It's pretty much like moving feather. He does this for 3 sets of 5. And then, he puts weight on it. 135 pounds. After a few dozen seconds of rest, he approaches the weight. And although this is nothing, really, he still puts on a deep focus of thought. The technique has to be perfect. He sits down, grabs the weight, and violently does a 'power snatch'. It is a speed-oriented exercises that works the legs, back, and shoulders. He does 2 reps of these.

He then increases the weight to 155, and does a repetition of this.

Another rest period happens...

The weight now goes to 175. He does one repetition of this.

And now, it is 185 pounds. He does 2 sets of 1 rep each. And then... he reduces the weight, putting it back to 175 pounds. He does 2 sets of 2 reps each.

Done with the power snatches.

He then 'cleans' the barbell and puts it on top of his thick wooden squat rack. He is now going to do split jerks. He starts off with 175 pounds for 2 reps. Rests. And then does 225 for 1. He then does 255 for 1. And then, for his heaviest, it's 285 pounds, for 2 sets of 1.

Now he moves to do front squats.

He simply loads the barbell with 365 pounds, unracks it on his shoulders, and with a wider-than-shoulder-width stance, he squats down, deep... and pauses for about 1 second, and stands back up. It was easy.

Today was just an easy workout. He didn't push himself that much. If he did push himself too much every single day, he wouldn't progress and would suffer from an exercise phenomena known as 'overreaching'. And worse... Overtraining.

The Weightlifter. (Part 1)

Postby ViKtoricus on June 26th, 2013, 11:54 pm

He's done with his workout. And like always, after getting done with a workout, he eats... He just ate a while ago, but he needs to eat again to be stronger. He ate his duck for the day, and he has no other animals to roast left. He probably should go grocery shopping. Maybe he should get some dried fish or something. Or cheese. Anything that has protein in it, but without much fat.

Out of boredom and due to his lack of meal, he goes ahead and does push ups and handstands. He even did one-arm push ups. He also practiced his clean+jerk technique with the light 45-pound bar. His legs are very strong. Whenever he manages to put the weight on his shoulders and squats down (a part of the clean), he can easily stand up with it, no problem. His main weakness is his 'quickness'. He can't get the timing right of ducking down and catching the weight.

These types of exercises that he has been doing heavily since he was 13 has made his legs, glutes, back, neck, shoulders, midsection, and arms, very strong. His main weakness is his chest muscles, since he doesn't do bench presses as often was he does squats... And speaking of squats. He'll do another set of front squats today.

He just needs to rest for about 2-3 hours before his second workout of the day...
