Breaking Boundaries

After getting lost in the City, Finn wandered back to her boat. As soon as she stepped onto the dock, tied to her boat and someone's fishing boat, her shoes were off. Slinging her shoes and her cloak into the bowed of her boat, she dove into the water. Feeling the cool salty caress of water on her skin, her gnosis went into a frenzy racing all over her body like a tsunami. She reached out with her Gnosis, feeling the many creatures below her. Schools of small fish and shellfish lazily floated on the bottom, safe from the currents of the boats and the nets of fisherman. Swimming back up for air, Finn lived up her feet assuming a relaxing floating position.

"Thankyou, Laviku, for the well being of these blessed creatures and the food source for your beloved sons and daughters, the Svefra." Muttering a prayer, Finn flipped so she was swimming down, searching for the lobsters she had sensed minutes ago. Finn was never overly formal with her beloved God, thanking and praising when was needed. She loved Laviku and his reign over the sea, as well as devoted her life to him, praying to a few other gods out of respect. She found that Laviku, though strict and sometimes playful, was a loving God of his devoted.

Finn found the Lobster resting on the bottom with two others. As she got nearer they stirred a bit at her presence, siting up the sand. Using her Gnosis she reached out to calm two of them, setting her hands down she willed them to her. The other Lobster was close to her hand, and she had forgotten about it. It backed away slowly clicking it claws at her in a sort of warning but not wanting to mess with her. Lobsters were surprisingly intelligent and they seemed to know when not to mess with something. Some would say it was wrong controlling the fish before she caught them. She thought f it as more humane though. This way they werent screaming and panicking, they came with her calmly and painlessly. As she swam back up cradling the lobsters in her hand, she willed them into a duller sleepy state. Since Finn only had one mark this was near the extent of her capabilities. Resting the two Black shellfish on the dock, she lifted herself up and quickly got a bucket from her boat. Filling it with water she placed them in there before jumping back in.

Having her meal caught and ready to be prepared Finn decided to enjoy herself in the water. As she was swimming she notice a small girl looking at her from the deep. Taking a breathe Finn ducked under to see the edge of a seals tail disappear in the depths. What are you? Confused and curious Finn took another breathe before swimming down under after this strange creature.

Vernadel

This sea was much different than the one at home, but it was a sea just the same, and Vernadel could not keep herself from the water for long. Her classes done for the day, she fluttered far above the crowds until she reached the docks. Some ways out, she flattened her arms against her sides and wings against her back and plunged headfirst into the cool water like a spear thrown from high.

Vern frolicked in the water, flipping and turning amongst all the sea creatures. So intent on her play, she hadn't realized how close she'd returned to the docked boats until she heard a small splash.

There was a tall woman diving through the water overhead. Vern settled near the bottom of the sea and observed the blonde woman who seemed to be searching for something. She watched as the lady went after a set of lobsters, seeming to mesmerize them somehow, before she took them back to the surface. Vernadel gulped. Zeltiva held so many surprises for her. She had never seen such a thing before.

The woman entered the water again and looked right at her with icy blue eyes. Her face was framed by clumped locks of her long hair that spread out in the water. Vern practiced a quick backflip and pumped her tail to swim away. She did not want that strange lady mesmerizing her, too.

After coming to a forest of kelp large enough to hide behind, Vernadel did so and peered between the swaying plants to see if she had lost the woman. There was no one in sight, except for a school of fish. Vern plucked a piece of the kelp and munched it thoughtfully. Perhaps she should swim back and meet this lady, who seemed, if nothing else, to love the water as much as she did. Though she did not understand the magic to put a lobster into a sort of coma, Vern thought that maybe the woman just liked food from the sea, the same as herself. Surely, she had to become braver if she was ever going to meet new people. After all, that's one of the reasons she had left Abura.

Vernadel propped herself vertically in the water and peered over the top of the kelp fronds with her large dark eyes. At least she can't swim as fast as I can, she thought smugly when there was still no sight of the tall blonde woman anywhere.

Breaking Boundaries

Before Finn could make it very far she was gone. Frustrated, Finn returned to the surface.
"That's it, Finn, scare her off." Finn muttered at herself looking down at the water. After a bit of swimming in circles, Finn realized why the water looked so dark. It's a giant kelp forest . . . Finn marveled at the size, ducking her head under I reached in every direction she could see. Her limbs began growing a tired after treading water for so long ad looking for the girl with the tail. Curiousity overwhelmed her though. Brainstorming she tried to find a way to communicate with this interesting girl. This girl that had a tail. The Svefra took anther breathe, swimming straight down into the kelp forest. I will invite her to dinner. Finn thought. All she had to do was find her. Finn decided she would try to motion what she wanted instead of use her gnosis. Her air was running low when she reached the floor, looking for the girl. Finn though she saw something but she had to go back up. Kicking off the sandy, weed riddled ground. She propelled herself upwards, her excitement making her already ready to go back down before she en had a proper breathe.

Back in the kelp forest Finn swam in circles, running over her plan. After a few tries Finn grew a bit impatient. Reaching out with her gnosis again, she could feel the girl, around her. But she want a girl. She had the tail of a seal and the wings of a butterfly but he ha a human face and torso. Finn decided he must be one of Laviku's blessed creatures. She hadn't planned on controlling the girl at all but she soon realized that even if she wanted to she wouldn't have been able too. Laviku favored this girl's race. With her curiosity reaching a new level Finn went for air one more time then went for the evasive girl that drove her crazy with curiosity.

Breaking Boundaries

Anna felt physically exhausted from her exertion with magic yesterday, as well as a bit sore from her mother's possession of her body. However mentally her mind was abuzz with something approaching pleasure as she walked the Docks of Zeltiva. The city had been thrust into a state of utter confusion and chaos yesterday, people seemed to have lost direction and had no one really understood exactly what was going on. One thing was known, however, the Denvali were involved in someway with this state of affairs.

The young wizard reveled in the chaos and confusion, giving thanks to Rhysol for it. The scar over her heart where the dark god's blood had touched her was flaring up once more, sending waves of chaotic bliss through her mind. She was feeling the sudden urge to curse some random fool, just to add to Rhysol's influence here. She wanted to start fires and cause mass hysteria for as long as she could, to drag out this event for as long as she could.

She barely resisted these urges, knowing that keeping a cool head here was the key to planting the seed of corruption. Anna needed to be careful, to keep her involvement here restricted to isolated events and the occasional curse here or there. If she gave in the she would likely go on a rampage of destruction that would result in her own demise, which would certainly not serve Rhysol's agenda.

With those feeling contained for the moment Anna continued along the docks, stopping at a rather curious sight. A woman about as tall as her was conversing with a decidedly non human woman, whose lower half ended with a seals tail. Out of some sense of curiosity the wizard approached the scene, only to watch as they both vanished beneath the water. Anna raised an eyebrow at the sight, shrugging slightly and seating herself on the edge of a nearby pier.

She was rather interested to learn of the seal-woman's race, besides a bit of scholarly interest would hopefully distract her from the urge surging once again in her mind. It was one of the many effects of her mark, the desire to contribute to chaos. Often when utilizing her Rhysol given powers her mind would be overwhelmed with images of untold destruction and unparalleled acts of betrayal. It was easy to slip into the pleasant images and give in. In a way it was like casting for reimancy.

The wizard struggled to push the thoughts aside, instead peering down into the water with some interest, waiting for the pair to return to the surface. The tall woman briefly returned to the surface, swimming in circles before going under once more. What the petch were they doing down there?

Breaking Boundaries

As she came up for air again, she glanced over at her boat to see how far away she was from it. As her eyes landed on the bucket of lobster she had set aside, she was surprised to see she had attracted attention of someone. I guess swimming in circles and disappearing underwater for amounts of time would look weird if you did see what I saw. She wouldn't have minded too much, but the figure sat right next to her meal and a few feet away from her precious casinor. Warily, Finn took a moment to level her breathing, watching the figure. Finn was also deciding to pursue the girl with the tail, or protect her boat. From the looks of it the figure was a woman and probably as equally as tall as Finn herself.

Finn inwardly pouted at the decision she made, but she'd never get ahold of the girl in the kelp anyways. After another moment, Finn took a deep breath Finn disappeared under the water, swimming back toward the docks. When she finally reached them she was pushing her limits on breathe. Kicking off of a beam that supported the wooden structure, she placed her hands on the dock and launched herself up from the water next to the woman, inbetween the woman and Finn's precious lobsters.

"Hiya." Finn smiled, crossing her legs and grabbing her wet hair to squeeze the water out behind her, careful not to splash the stranger, anymore. "Oh, umm, Hello." She repeated in common.

"I suppose ya think I'm a lil'bit nuts out there don'tchya?" Finn's thick Fratavian accent showed while she attempted conversation, grabbing onto her bucket handle with one hand and switching to a crouch from her sitting position.

Vernadel

Vernadel giggled underwater as she played hide-and-seek in the kelp forest with the blonde woman. She darted between fronds, just letting the woman catch sight of her movement before slipping away from her. Soon, though, she could tell that the blue-eyed lady was getting tired. She was just about to reveal herself when the woman took off swimming back toward the docks.

Oh, petch, Vern thought, the game is over. The Akvatari had lost her new playmate. She was a little hungry from all that movement, so after gathering some kelp in her fists, she began swimming after the woman, without coming up for air at all. Maneuvering under the boats and between the legs of the docks, she watched the woman's long legs exit the water.

Now, Vernadel was not usually the type of Akvatari to cause mischief, but there was just something bubbling in her at the moment. She paused on the side of the dock and stuck a frond of kelp in her mouth, planning her next move. Then, with a dastardly smile, she shot up out of the sea, spreading her wings once they broke through the water, and sending droplets spraying in all directions. Brazenly she fluttered in mid air, face to face with the lady on the dock.

Then, she realized that the blonde woman was not alone and just as quickly as she had spurted from the water, she sunk back into it like a heavy stone. She sat on the soft sand underneath the dock and nervously chewed on her kelp. Not having gotten the best look at the blonde's companion, Vern contemplated showing herself again. The second woman was also tall with long dark hair and a shadowy face that Vernadel could not really interpret. The last thing she wanted to do right now was to go back to her dorm room alone and bored. If there was any imminent danger from either of them, she could always fly away in a hurry.

Vern swam her way back up to the surface of the water and broke through with just her head and shoulders. She looked expectantly at the two women, her dark eyes wide, and her messy, pearl-strung hair dripping.

Anna's eye carefully followed the tall woman as she swam up to the docks, sizing her up. Blonde dreadlocks fell from her head and she possessed an odd carefree air about her that seemed a bit misplaced in Zeltiva now days, it intrigued the wizard to some degree. Mostly because the recent days seemed to not leave much room for fun and games, but also because she looked to be an excellent potential victim for a curse. It was always wise to keep an eye out for such individuals.

The wizard was about to respond to the other woman's question before a spray of water forced her to shield herself with her arm. Anna quickly hopped to her feet, willing res to pool in her right hand as she searched for the source of the explosion. The hasty formation of the magical liquid sent the urge to generate more roaring through her mind, images of burning ships and broken bodies flashing before her eyes. A slight trickle of blood slowly dribbled from her nose, the remnants of the severe overgiving of last season.

Her wary grey eyes fell upon the half seal woman glancing up at the pair with curious eyes. The wizard forced herself to remain calm, even with the chaos of the city she couldn't afford to give up control. Slowly the wizard sat back down, forcing a grin on her face. Hopefully neither one noticed the now receding liquid, the translucent fluid quickly returning to her body once more.

"My apologies for the wariness, one cannot be too careful now days with the confusion in the city. In any event, I don't find your little swim to be crazy at all just a little odd given how the state of things. In any event, I suppose introductions are customarily in order. I am Annalisa Marin." The woman said, struggling to remember how to keep social niceties.

It was not exactly easy to keep her considerable pride and arrogance in check, especially now when two destructive urges were flowing through her. Months ago she likely would have met the two with scathing words and hateful remarks, not so much now. A good Chaon was one that others liked to one degree or another, one that could gain the trust of others only to stab them in the back and twist the knife for good measure. Still, it took a good deal of willpower to keep it in check.

Honestly the woman thought such restraint extremely generous to her inferiors. She certainly hoped they understood how much willpower it took not to devolve into scathing arrogance and hateful litany. Alas, her suffering was to be conducted in silence, such a martyred fate was hers alone to bear.

Breaking Boundaries

The wave of water didn't surprise Finn much because she was already drenched. Unfortunately she missed her chance to take in the sight of the girl she was looking for. Her eyes were concentrated on the Woman sitting before her. The woman sprang up, giving the Svefra a chance to stand up as well, not taking her chances being below this woman. Holding her pale in one hand, she leaned against the wooden pole next to her. As the woman sat down and introduced herself, Finn held out her hand.

"M'aye name's Finn." She tried not to look suspicious as she strolled towards her boat, checking the lock on the hatch that lead down to her living quarters out of the corner of her eye. It didn't look jiggled with at all, setting her pale down she stepped back onto the dock to meet the seal girl. "n'you?" She stuck her chin towards the girl. Finn would have rather been in the water with the curious looking child, but she didn't trust this woman. And needed to defend her boat even if she had nothing but fists to defend with.

Returning her gaze to the child in the water she came to a realization. "y'ain't a child at all. And ya ain't human. What're you?" Her thick Fratavian accent an the fact that she spoke little of the common language made it hard for her to fully express her questions. Finn was silent as she focused on the chil-woman. She had wings and a tail. She could fly or swim! But could she walk? Can she travel on land at all? Where did she come from? Are there more of her? Did Laviku approve of her swimming his oceans? Finn knew why her Gnosis didn't work on her, because she was not completely of the sea. "Are'ya a type of … uhh. How do you say?Wizard? Mage?"Finn spoke the words she was looking do in fratava, uncertain of how to say them in common." Umm, magic? Are'ya a mistake? A magic experi-sumtin'?" Finn had trouble asking her question, motioning with her hands she tried to get the phrase across in Fratava. Slightly embarrassed for her trouble with the common language, she started popping her knuckles to calm her nerves, hoping one of the two woman understood her.

Vernadel

It made Vernadel feel better seeing that the blonde woman, who announced her name was Finn, was just as nervous and uncertain as she. And the dark-haired Annalisa...had a forced grin stuck on her face. When Finn began asking questions in broken Common, Vern emerged from the water, slowly this time. She flew over to the other side of Finn and plopped her tail down on the dock.

"I am an Akvatari," she said, her black eyes darkening even more. "Not a mistake." Both women towered over her, so she craned her neck up to look at them as she introduced herself. "My name is Vernadel and I've come from Abura, the land of the Akvatari artists."

Trying to make herself seem a little taller, Vern flitted her wings to hold herself up on the tips of her fins. "Child or no, I still have some years before my birthing days," she explained, knowing, from past experience, the confusion over her age. She eyed Annalisa and Finn, the former as dark as the other one was fair. "It's nice to meet you both. I have only just arrived in Zeltiva and don't know many people yet. Besides, I'm confused about what's happening in this city. Is it always this chaotic?"

Breaking Boundaries

The tall one spoke in heavily accented common that possessed a broken quality about it; Anna needed to think for a moment to decipher it. The wizard generally was not fond of those who possessed limited communication skills in regards to the common tongue, it meant extra effort on her part to understand the meaning behind their words. Unfortunately, Zeltiva received many such foreigners, a consequence of the liberal nature of acceptance the city adopted.

The half seal affirmed her race as being called Akvatari, given the wizard a name to an appearance. From her observations, Anna concluded that the wings upon her back did indeed function. Most likely they were her primary means of transportation, meaning that losing them would likely be highly immobilizing for one of her race. The tall dark haired woman filed away that useful information for later use, briefly toying with the idea of using this creature as a model for that theory. A few subtle curses might do the trick...

No. I cannot afford to utilize Rhysol's blessings at the moment. I need to wait for my mind to acclimatize to the chaos, otherwise I might give into my base desires. She thought.

Instead she focused on the winged half seal's question and offered a slight chuckle in response. The chaos was a source of confusion for most, but for her especially it was a whirlwind of sensation that most would count themselves lucky to never have to resist. She reveled in the confusion and the potential for great catastrophe, it was difficult to imagine having lived truly at all before this experience.

She couldn't very well admit to that being the case, instead she needed to show a somewhat normal response.

"No, this confusion is not normal at all. I wish I could help you better understand it, but I know very little about the situation myself. Pandemonium seems to be the state of things among a number of groups, as such information moves more ponderously than normal. Chaos tends to breed such things, the greatest thing most people fear is the unknown. The confusion you see is a product of that fear. More, I cannot say."

Anna shrugged at the end, casting her gaze to the city proper. Her mind was slowly starting to settle as the sensations calmed to some degree. Enough for her to think more coherently and allow her thoughts to translate to spoken word.

"What cause have you ladies to be out and about? It seems a number of people are preparing for a storm of sorts, I myself was only brought out by a need to get supplies to last for a few more days."
