A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

Sosicly thought this was her favorite part of the festival, besides being visited by the pretty ladies in their pretty dresses. She hoped all the ones she find would have sweets in them or miza. Both were good because with the miza she could actually buy the sweets. Bigger sweets. On second thought she wanted the miza.

Turning over one of the many bowls under the table Sosicly pouted when she found it empty but happily flipped the next, and the next, and the next until they were all upturned. Yet, there was nothing in them. She heard one of her brothers snicker, and shot a glare behind her, huffing at her parents sense of humor.

On hands and knees crawling out from under the table she finally spotted it. A small blue cocoon shaped parcel. Tiny, and colored meant it was probably something good. Grinning Sosicly clapped her hands in an 'a-ha!' gesture only have a larger clawed hands pull it out of her fingers.

The young girl turned with her fangs bared not surprised to find that Veladra had nicked yet another of her cocoons. Glaring she shook her head vigoursly, and pointed at the cocoon and herself. "Sorry can't hear you. And I seen it first, Draly."

Again the girl shook her head, this time jumping for the egg but Veladra jumped up, hooking himself neatly to the wall and placed it in his knapsack and winked at his sister. "Better luck next time." Sosicly stomped her foot, and looked around for one of her parents but they were still outside the Web, hiding some on the roof.

Sibling Rivalry (Savidis)

Postby Savidis on September 26th, 2013, 1:16 pm

In general, Savidis enjoyed sleeping in. In fact, getting him up for school in the mornings could be a chore in and of itself, which caused his parents no end of annoyance. There were not a great many things that could rouse him in the early morning, but by Viratas, the Harvest Festival was one of those things.

The first cocoon had been in the dining room, hidden in a bowl of opalgloam. Savidis refrained from squealing in delight; he knew better than to attract the attention of his siblings, lest he find his cocoon suddenly in someone else’s hands. Carefully, the spiderchild hid the cocoon inside his shirt to open later, and was about to abandon the room when his eyes caught sight on the bowls on the table, new and not yet stored. It was with a deft afterthought that he arranged the bowls under the table, uncaring of the dust that smeared over their smooth finish. If his parents accused him, then he would deny it. Once satisfied with his red herrings, Savidis slithered up the wall to watch; he never could resist watching the reactions to his mischief. In his opinion, the reactions were all of the fun.

It was eventually Sosicly that made her way into the room where the little Symenestra crouched upside-down, and he quickly turned away and pretended to look for more cocoons. He grinned to himself as he heard her turn over bowl after bowl, even letting out a stray snicker. He didn’t need to look at her to sense the piercing glare shot over her shoulder just in time for Veladra to join his siblings. Savidis’ smile quickly dampened; Veladra could always manage to sour his good moods.

Savidis turned in surprise at the clap of triumph, and was dismayed to find that his cocoon had managed to escape from his shirt and now resided in his sister’s hand! He dropped from the ceiling, fully prepared to reclaim his stolen prize, when the eldest of the three snatched it from Sosicly with an arrogant smile.

“No!” Savidis said, pointing at the cocoon. “I saw it before either of you! It was mine first!”

Veladra turned a scornful eye on his brother. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but decided against it.

“I’m sure you did,” was all he tossed out before turned on his heel and taking Savidis’ cocoon to another room.

Sibling Rivalry (Savidis)

Sosicly turned to Savidis and shook her head, pointing at her retreating brother then at herself. Saying the cocoon was hers, after a moment of angry glaring and pouting she stomped her foot then she opened her little knapsack angrily to show the one cocoon she had been able to get before Veladra.

Veladra rolled his eyes after a moment, "Don't be a brat. Find other ones." Stubbornly Sosicly shook her head and pointed at her brother's bag. Glaring once more she hurried off to her bed and pulled out her notebook. Angrily she opened the ink vial and scribbled out some words before turning to flash the book at her siblings.

You both have one! I don't. Give me mine, Veladra. And its not yours either, Savidis.

"Sorry, can't read your writing."

Sosicly glared harder, as if she could mentally get back at her brother. Instead she grabbed for Veladra's bag and crawled under the table with a hiss. There she waited clutching the bag. It was at that moment that their parents entered the web.

Sibling Rivalry (Savidis)

Postby Savidis on December 11th, 2013, 4:32 am

Savidis bared his teeth at his elder and at his sister. Stupid sister, stupid brother; it was his cocoon, and that was that! Maybe he would catch a lizard later, or a bat, and put it in Veladra’s bed. That would teach him to steal from a stealer! Wait a minute…

His thoughts were interrupted when Sosicly darted forward and snatched the bag right out of Veldra’s hands. Savidis laughed out loud and pointed.

“Ha, finders keepers!” he shrieked in delight. Sosicly stealing from him was bad, but Sosicly stealing from Valadra was hilarious.

Of course, it was at that exact moment that their parents had to walk in. Father’s face was drawn in apprehension of what nonsensical squabble was going on this time, while Mother’s face was already set in a sharp frown. Savidis knew how this would work; Father would take Veladra’s side, Mother would take Sosicly’s side, and if Savidis didn’t choose a side then no one would be on his.

“What is going on here?” Mother said with narrowed eyes.

Savidis hopped over to the table quickly and crouched down near Sosicly.

“Veladra took our cocoon,” he said. “Sosicly took it back.” If it would not be mine, at the very least it would be ours, and if they managed to keep the prize in their possession then Sosicly would simply have to share with him, and that was better than nothing at all.
