Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

When she danced out of his reach, Favchean noted in the still small quiet of his mind that her movements were nimble and agile. Even without him consciously doing so, his eyes were taking in her defensive stance and his motions became guarded. Then she exploded with motion, being a southpaw he liked to use the feint and punch combo as well, so he recognized it for what it was. When her fist swung out, he didn't bother to go left, instead his arm raised to catch her punch on his forearm rather then his face. At the same time his opposite arm raises to try and do a quick rabbit punch to where a human's kidney might be located.

However he didn't anticipate the quick turn and roundhouse kick that caught him, bringing him to kneel on one knee. Now his instincts, what he trained daily for, took over and he no longer continued pulling punches. Instead he rapidly moved still on one knee, bending his waist and twisting his body so that his shoulder was used as a battering ram aimed toward her middle. The move, if successful, is one that is used to knock an opponent away and try and buy enough time to regain one's feet.

Though she had gotten one up on him, the green Akalak let out a happy sounding growl, his lips cracking into a wide grin. If his tackle was successful he would stand and reassess before he pressed the attack. An unsuccessful tackle would leave him continued to be entangled, and would find him attempting to break free with a rapid series of well placed punches against her upper thigh, in hopes of weakening her support.

Ah, how familiar was this sort of language to Kaie. She always seemed to find that the clash of fists always spoke more truth and honesty than any conversation with words. It was the only way to communication that bridged any culture or language gap. So when Favchean managed to cleanly block her attempted punch at his face, Kaie couldn't help the feral growl that slipped between her jaws in contempt. The landing of her kick brought a sinister grin to her lips. Watching the Akalak fall to his knees was such a satisfying sight to the Myrian. It was symbolic, really. As if Kaie had proven the ideas held by Myrians across Taloba. Like everything about her ethnocentric upbringing had held absolute truth. And this battle would attest to it. Nothing guaranteed keeping it in her favor would be simple.

Just like that the Akalak returned the favor with a strong shoulder. He hit her just as he had intended, sending the woman reeling back away from the fight. Just before impact, Kaie exhaled naturally to keep from getting the wind knocked out of her. She stepped back furiously to stay on her feet. As soon as his own growl reached her ears, Kaie returned with a savage snarl. Her lip curled in a combination of excitement and distaste in his small victory. Within a moment she was back in it.

Time to make a move.

This time she tried something different. Her trickery wasn't in her foot work. This time it was with her hands. Kaie eased back into her position and stood within range. Her head slid left behind her guard and then right. Testing. And then she swung, but it was not full. Just a quick jab with the left aimed for Favchean's face, designed to capture his focus. If she succeeded in the distraction, he'd never see the forward kick aimed at his stomach coming.

As soon as he felt her body give way from his shoulder he did not press the attack, instead he ducked back to regroup. Favchean might have preconceived notions about how fragile a woman can be, but he was not so stupid that he did not recognize the skill that this one possessed. He no longer thought along the lines that he needed to be gentle with her, instead he began to start to try and anticipate and predict her motions.

When she darts forward he sees the punch coming, and he swung his torso back with cat-like agility that might be surprising if one had never seen him do his Kata or fight. His arms came up with the intention to grip her arm and use her own momentum to drive her body more fully into his raised knee. That was his intentions. Unfortunately her leg had seemingly came from no where to impact his solid abdomen causing his plans to go awry.

He was no beginner though, so just because that plan didn't work he didn't give in. Instead he simply decided to try and use his height and strength to an advantage. He reached out to try and hook one of her trim thighs with his elbow while at the same time driving his right fist up, not straight into, her abdomen. If successful it would drive her from her feet, to the mat below.

Gotcha!

Kaie couldn't help but feel a swell of pride in her successful decoy. The small, deceptive movement had yielded the results she had sought after. With the muscular Akalak distracted, there was very little to defy her forward strike with her heel. Her foot hit him squarely in the abdomen. Much to her annoyance, however, the solid being did not seem to falter much. Favchean was much more steady than she had expected. Like she figured before, she'd have to claw and scratch her way for any advantage. The Myrian knew the green pigmented man would have an answer she wouldn't exactly like.

It all happened a bit too fast for Kaie to register, but before she knew it she was on her back. Needless to say, that position did not leave her pleased. It was one of dominance over her. It was wrong. Finally she began to feel the burn of her gnosis as the battle continued. The incinerating feeling of the mark on her skin was the reminder her Mother was with her. Goddess Myri would see her through. And that when she made her move.

The Myrian woman rocked back away from him as if expecting him to try to get her while she was down. She rolled back over her shoulders and onto her feet again, guard up and a hiss coming from her lips. Kaie rushed back in until she was within range, slowing up to plan a strategic attack. Her decision was simple. Rather than another punch he seemed to be good at anticipating, she figured she'd try another kick. This time it was a quick revolution that aimed to strike his shin. If done correctly, it would smash into the center of the shin. She'd seen a soldier do it to cramp up the leading foot of his enemy. Whether not Kaie had the strength to have the same effect was questionable. It didn't hurt to try anyways. Just for good measure though, Kaie then lunged in for a hook punch aimed at his ribs.

Day of Season, year.

When she landed on her back, Favchean moved back immediately, in combat he would have pressed the attack. He would not have given her room to get up, nor even a second to gain a breather. She had proven herself well in her fighting, and he had no doubt that if he did not have the advantage of height, weight, and brute strength then he would be more then a little sore when her blows landed.

However this was not combat so he did step back when she was prone, giving her time to get back up. He was honest enough with himself that he also admired how easily she got back up. She was definitely not like the women he knew, and perhaps the women he knew might not be as delicate as he had always thought they were. Then her foot was connecting to his shin and all thought fled his mind as he was brought back to the sparring moment. Her foot connected, and there was a moment of pain that flashed through his head as her foot connected to a weak point. However it simply caused him to jerk in surprise, as his body flowed without him thinking. Ignoring the fading jabbing points of pain in his shin, his body twisted as she punched, which though she caught his ribs it was a glancing blow. Enough to know her fist had been there, but not enough to disable him.

His arm reached around to grab her opposite shoulder from him, to pull her closer even as his knee raised, hoping to drive into her stomach. If he was not deterred on the first motion, his other hand would come down to strike her against the joint where shoulder met neck.

The thwack of flesh striking flesh was music to her ears. Strangely enough, she had found that despite his muscular build, her own shin felt naught but a tingle to remind her of her attack. It would seem Yitmah had been right when he told her that the nerves in that area would dull with repetition. It certainly appeared the fact was holding merit in that moment at least. Unfortunately, her kick yielded nothing from the Akalak but discomfort and a reminder she was still in the game. Her hook toward his torso just knocked the edges of her knuckles against skin. All in all, it was unsuccessful for the most part. Frustration clouded her head and began a slow boil in her blood. Her teeth grit together for a moment, eyes seeming to darken with her internal scolding. Only Yitmah's discipline reminded her patience was her ally, though it certainly wasn't one of her virtues.

Like some waiting snake, his arm struck out and latched onto her shoulder. Before she could quite understand his intentions, the Myrian woman was yanked in toward him to take some kind of punishment. Panic brought her hands out in front of her as if hoping to shove him away. Instead they inadvertently caught the outside of the approaching knee like a trap. In that split seconds before her counter, Kaie considered her options. Ultimately, it seemed common sense to try to get the guy off balance and make try to some sort of escape.

"Not bad, Akalak!"

Just as the Myrian continued her hand movements to shove his knee toward its opposite and have a go at his middle, a stinging pain enveloped her. It had felt like a hammer had been pounded into her tender flesh. She made a sharp inhalation and a feral snarl in response, adrenaline and gnosis beginning to take affect with the intensifying thread. Her hands removed themselves from his pushed knee, right hand balling into a sturdy fist. She attempted to pummel at his middle twice with the right, left fist hoping to slid in for a strike on the side of his torso. If she succeeded there, she'd thrust the right hand up following its first attacks into a palm heel strike under his jaw. Anything to distract him and set herself free.

There was no time to relish his small victory, for as soon as finished the maneuver her hand connected to his gut, twice. The first time he had exhaled, but the second caught him off guard which drove his breath from his body. Fortunately he didn't have time to think about breathing because a brilliant flash of light filled his mind, that was her palm slamming his jaw into his molars. Stumbling back, having to get his bearings again did indeed distract him, and his arms fell from her but not quite pinwheeling out to balance himself.

An appreciative smile is given in just a flash, it might even be missed so quick did it light his lips before he was slipping in. He ducked low, preferring to keep his point of balance lower, driving a fist first to her side, then a second to her face. It didn't matter if these were contact hits or not, he was not really trying for much of anything with those except to keep her on edge. After both punches were delivered -successfully or failing- his body shifts, his muscles contract and he leans back so that is left leg comes up high, for a round house kick aimed for her jaw. If delivered perfectly, and if she didn't do anything at all to soften the blow it might have been a knock out blow. However it is highly unlikely that Kaie was just going to stand there and let a very large, very green foot connect to her chin. So Favchean was already planning in his mind, the next combo he would likely try, contingent on her actions of course.

The smoldering flame within her soul burned restlessly despite the landing blows. The liberation from his hold was not a lingering thought in her mind. This was not the place to applaud oneself and take pride in small victories. It was the basic building blocks that created warriors, this training. In battle it never matter who hit who and how hardly or often. People only remember the survivor, and it is that victor that gets to tell the tale and write history. Though the spar she was currently participating in was on a much smaller and far less fatal scale than a real war, Kaie took it seriously. Yitmah would've reached across the sea to backhand her if she did otherwise.

The youth wrung out her wrists the moment he stumbled back, shaking out the impact of the contact and getting ready for another round. The Akalak was tough and it didn't take him long to maneuver back in. His stance was noticeably lower than before and therefore more grounded. Just as she anticipated, the punch came. This time it was aimed at her side. Kaie's reaction wasn't as smooth as it should've been, for when she stepped back to parry, she ended up crossing herself out after the block to be nailed by the next strike. This time it was her face that suffered.

He was just as strong as he looked. The knuckles skid across his cheek solidly, leaving behind a throbbing pain and reddened flesh. Instincts drove her hand to her face all too late. At least she had the wits about her to keep focus and notice the way his body turned. It was clear he was setting himself up for some kind of kick. She brought her same hand the hover near her ear and the other across her body just below. The effect was a flat plane created with her arms. Favchean's kick knocked into the fleshy barrier solidly, reminding her just how much force he was packing. A close call, but one she was happy to have avoided. And as soon as he rebounded from her, the Myrian girl pivoted in where her own shin angled to kick behind his knees. The aim was to take away the one leg balancing his entire body while he was retreating back to his guard. Just for good measure, Kaie bend her elbow with the intention of spinning around to connect with the side of his skull.

Favchean didn't get any reprieve when his blows connected. The feel of flesh striking flesh, the gentle but familiar sting of his knuckles were all but a fleeting moment of enjoyment before she was back on the attack. Her shin once more caught his leg and the world went topsy-turvy for a moment until his meaty back hit the mat and the world quit spinning for a moment. Of course this helped in one sense, seeing as how if he hadn't lost his footing then her elbow would have col cocked him in the head.

As soon as his shoulders hit the mat his legs kicked out, hoping to scissor her leg between them so that he could twist his body, thus take her down with him. Successful or not he would rapidly untangle his legs to roll to the opposite side, standing. The only reason he had tried that last maneuver was to give himself time to get up and ready. Once it appeared she was either still on her feet or gotten to her feet he would not let the moment pass. He pressed forward, throwing first a punch from the left, then to the right, in rapid succession only they were a little wide, and he cringed at the execution. Sloppy.

[Tuvya Sasarin] Two worlds collide

There were a few particular things a Myrian became accustomed to when training in the depths of Falyndar. With the ancient battle always afoot, knowing the strengths of the enemy is often the difference between life and death. With knowledge of Dhani prowess in wrestling (as to be expected from massive constrictors), there was always a common rule Yitmah drilled into her head. It was simple. No matter what happens, never find yourself off your feet if you can help it. That rule was unfortunately broken by Favchean. With his back to the mat, Kaie felt the absolute need to capitalize.

Irony reared its ugly head in time to watch Kaie hit the floor before she could slam her heel on the Akalak's body. Just as her back was hitting the mat, her hands shot out to slap it and take some of the shock away from the fall. Next phase of action was instinctual. Whenever one's at a disadvantage in combat, there was one thing to do: haul some serious ass. So when Favchean was already on the move, Kaie was scrambling like a madwoman. Kipping up would've been the favorable if there wasn't the startling idea a jab was waiting for her. Her best bet was a simplistic roll over onto her hands and knees, keeping low and shuffling backward before standing straight up. Soon after the attacks followed.

The previously unexpected drop left her mind in white noise. Her processing was a little off along with her focus. The first swing was successfully deflected off her forearm. The next? Not so much. The delay in her decision to counter, however short, costed her greatly. The second knocked right off her cheekbone. Luckily its width alone kept the devastation at a minimum. Had his index and middle knuckles been more precise, she'd be far deeper in a world of pain. Of course it still hurt like shyke.

"Aw, petch!" Kaie growled to herself in Myrian, recoiling in violence of action rather than a defensive back-away. With the flare of her gnosis, the Myrian lunged in with a change of tactic. This time she stepped in closer, hoping to "shorten the stick" and keep him from being able to halt her with fully extended punches. Guard up, she tried to hook him with a right elbow coming across to his ribs. Meanwhile, the other intended to follow suit by jamming the point of her elbow into his solar plexus. If he succeeded in doubling him over, the next assault would be taken with a round of knees to his torso.
