Favchean meets Kaie's....fist.

Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

There was something about this woman that Favchean admired, be it either the courage to stand up to an Akalak one on one, or it could possibly be the fact that she was succeeding in elbowing dents into his ribs and then, yes that was a knee to the torso. The pain exploding in his mind was numbed by the concentration that he held onto, surely after wards he will feel the bruising and possible minor damage to his ribs. However for the moment he was able to distance himself to appreciate the movements she made.

When he doubled over, and her knee came up to connect to his torso, he stiffened his chest to try and make as much of a solid connection as possible to her knee. It hurt him more doing so, but he hoped it would also hurt her knee a little bit more. Trying to keep his breath from hitching, the slam of her knee catching him by surprise, Favchean snaked his arm around her waist, and once more relied on his brute strength and the leverage of rising from a bent position to bring her close in, his free arm coming around to try and slam his fist into her kidneys. A quick series of rabbit punches if she doesn't manage to squirm away before he delivers them.

It was inevitable that she would sooner or later slip his grip, and when that happened Favchean would be ready for it, he would slip low to the ground. Well as low as he was able, trying to slip once more under her guard to spend some more quality time slamming his hand into first her stomach, and then a chopping motion to her knee.

Kaie was unsatisfied. Horribly, horribly unsatisfied. Sure, she had gotten some nice hits on the Akalak, but her performance was barely to par with her liking. She felt...Slow. It was as if she felt she was always just a step behind or countering only just in time. Her turns and pivots when she tried to get fancy felt utterly unbalanced and sloppy. Punches seemed to lack the maximum of their potential power no matter how soundly they were struck. It was the plague of the long path toward mastery. She still couldn't decide whether her age and smaller stature had given her any edge at all. When it came down to it, the Myrian woman was seriously beginning to doubt she had anything to her but a few years exchanging hits and a blessing from the Goddess of War herself. Frustration was its own kind of misery she couldn't shake. It was the negative internal monologue and the pressure of being physically better than she was at the time, that put her in a bit of trouble.

Some sort of childish, primitive anger stuck her just then. Her following knees to his chest became more rabid and quick, but by doing so she unknowingly sacrificed some of her power. Then she felt his fist like a terrible shock. Knuckles banged into the area above a sensitive organ, causing a yowl from Kaie. Instincts screamed the obvious: to escape. Little thought was needed in her next delivery, though not before he had gotten his share.

Natural panic set in as her nerves lit up in the area being attacked. Her eyes dilated and the blessing burned deeply, willing her with a snarl to rise above and react. Kaie reciprocated with the sudden, and quick, rise and fall of her elbow into the shoulder joint connected to the arm pummeling her. Finding a delay in the next strike series, the Myrian put her hands on the back of his head and stepped backward, out and away. The new space gave her room to calculate, but not much.

Favchean proved to be no fool in the art. Never let up, never give in, never back down. He knew he had her on the defensive and tender from his brutal shots. She might've chastised him herself for not reaping what he had sown. Thankfully (or not) she didn't need to. He had come back like an illness tough to shake, assaulting her with fists. With the Akalak dominating the lower level of battle and no way for her to physically overpower him, there was no where else to go but up.

Hands still on the back of his head, she swung herself up around his neck as if she were lifting herself upon a saddle. In a desperate attempt to end the fight in a tapout, she leaned back and tightened her legs around his throat in a choke as she was able, and hoped his legs hadn't the strength to battle the change in his center of gravity. For if he did, she was rightly screwed. If by some slim chance things went her way, she'd hit the mat first and continue to constrict his airways.

One might think that Favchean might have been able to use his sheer size advantage to avoid being felled by a smaller girl. One might think that Favchean would simply lift her as if she were no more then a child..but then one would have to not know the laws of physics to understand how a smaller girl was able to fell a much larger man. The sheer torque allowed her to use her smaller body as leverage to topple Favchean to the ground.

Muscled thighs clamped around his thick throat, cutting off air supply. Thanks to his training Favchean does not panic, instead as his body hit the mat heavily his right arm squirms to try and get between the mat and her rear. Not for nefarious purposes of course, just to try and gain a position that he might be able to use is free hand to pry at the legs blocking his air. His body had landed at an awkward angle, perhaps good timing and precision on her part or perhaps just sheer bad luck on his. He knew that unless his elbow managed to damage a kidney flailing his arms about would not do much other then take his conserves of oxygen even faster.

Yet the he couldn't gain purchase, and he did not give up trying until the Sasarin surroundings started to swim lightly. Finally he allowed all tension to leave his body, tapping the mat to signal that he was giving in. She had bested him, but it was not a dishonorable loss. She had taken almost as many strikes as he had, and he had nothing but respect for her. There was no sour thoughts or anger at the loss.

Surprise...Shock...Then a victory grin emerged upon her tired face. She relaxed her muscles and released the man, returning to her feet at a leisure pace. With the wear and tear of the spar, she was already feeling the soreness that would plague her for the next day or so. Truthfully, though every warrior should step onto the field with the belief of eminent victory, this was not a fight Kaie expected to win. Sitting up there on his shoulders, she actually thought he would've reared back and squashed her like a bug on the mat. Loss would've surely followed. Yet there are so many different patterns, combinations, and trails to take upon the battle. Favchean just happened to lose sight of the one that would've resulted in her failure. That was the beauty of spars, though. You find worthy opponents to force you in new ways to lose, so you may learn your mistakes and win when it counts.

The young Myrian woman swiped the back of her hand across her forehead, finding herself recovering her breath. Then she stepped forward as she had watched her father do on the ship to his fallen opponent. Mirroring his actions, she dropped her hand down toward him with good nature. No malicious arrogance or smugness present.

"So stories are true. Akalak fight good. Maybe you Kata, it work, no?" She asked with amused eyes, shrugging her shoulders.

Favchean accepted the hand offered easily, in the world of the Akalak one day you are winning, and another day you are losing. You only hoped that the day you lost is a day that it is just sparring. Heaving himself up off the mat, his shoulders rolled to work out any kinks in his neck before he grinned down at the other. "Akalak train hard. Most fight well yes."[/blue] His pale eyes skimmed her once over, more to make sure that he hadn't dealt any damage that was needed to be seen by a healer. However it didn't appear so, he had never bothered checking the men he sparred with but, during that sparring session he hadn't remembered to pull many of the punches.

[color=blue]"You fight well also, how long have you been training?'
He moved off the mat instinctively, if another came in to train they could challenge them as long as they were on the mats. He was intrigued by the other, and impressed as well. " How have you come to Riverfall? There will be many chances to practice if you are staying some length. Perhaps I will show you more of my Kata, and you can show me some of the defensive measures you pulled?" Favchean had little doubt that his mentality was permanently affected by this little spar. Women definitely deserved protection and care, but perhaps it was less of them needing it. It was something to think on.

She shrugged at the question, rolling out a sore shoulder she had landed on wrong when making an evasion. The answer seemed rather obvious. Yet she also needed to consider this was not Falyndar and the culture here was far different from her own. The people here had customs of their own strange to her. There was still much about their combat rituals she was yet to discover. And the Night Tower was something she had her eyes set on for some time...

"Long. Myrians teach children as soon as they can stand. It is tradition. No one survives long in the jungle without some kind of training," She explained with a slow nod as if she was disappeared into her own memories. The first time she held a weapon was a blur. She had held many handles and thrown plenty of punches since then, and in hindsight, the memory itself seemed almost unnecessary to recollect. What mattered was skills shared and information understood and stored. Her survival was testament to her experiences.

"Ah, come by, you call, ship. Kaie hope to learn much while here. Myrians very good at arts in war, but Kaie think maybe outsiders could show me something new to take back? Makes little sense to ones at home, but then see things like your Kata. Reminds me that all this travel worth it after all," She added while following the muscular green man from the mats. If she was lucky she might've been able to catch another round of sparring and observe objectively. For now Favchean was her focus. There was something captivating about a foreign race that was truly willing to share something of his own with her. Even if it was just exchanging punches.

"Be here for few days father say. Maybe come back and we meet again? Sound like fair trade."

Favchean grinned, his body tired and hot but pleasantly so. He rolled his neck and then shoulders before he, out of habit offered her his arm as escort the same as he had every other woman he had encountered. It wasn't until he had done so that he realized that perhaps she wouldn't appreciate the sentiment, or even know what it was so he pulled his arm back with a grin. It appeared that Favchean had much to learn still about the fairer gender.

"It seems like a very fair trade" He remarked, preparing to depart from the Sasarin, having gotten lessoned in far more then he had expected. "I hope to run into you again Kaie. Thank you for the lesson and perhaps we will indeed meet again." . Favchean leaned down to retrieve his Lakan and dagger that he wears sheathed on his hips when he isn't sparring.

"If you are ever in the Kendoka Sasarin, perhaps we will cross blades. I am interested in seeing your style in that." WIth that being said, Favchean gives her another nod in farewell and slips from the room to return to him home. Bruised but wiser.

The lactic acid build up was becoming more prominent, giving the Myrian the sensation of a numbing tiredness slipping through her muscles. Nonetheless, she would never so much as think to voice any discomfort to the Akalak. Yitmah never tolerated whining and complaining. Besides, the feeling was common to her by now. She supposed battling a sturdy colored man of muscle, like Favchean, would have that kind of effect.

"You are welcome. Kaie should thank you, for Kata and spar. Was new...Eye opening, no?" She offered in return with a smile, noticing the odd weapon whose title she did not know. Perhaps she could ask him about it if they ever met again. Until then... "Maybe we will. Goodbye, Favchean."

Kaie grinned at the departing green warrior, finding herself almost lingering on his silhouette as he left the premises. With his absence, she noticed more Akalak had seemed to arrive and utilize the space. She waited for a moment, observing the Kata wielders as they went about their training. Yet the Myrian women could never go unnoticed, and the eyes
quickly found her. So without any more lingering, she departed.

Notes: Fav, when you say you are doing a kata and just moving your leg in a post or switching your position, I can’t really give you any XP because it doesn’t have enough detail. You do this in several posts or start and stop or shift a kata without clarification to the reader. That might be why your XP seems a little short – not rping to the level of the discipline you are using. Kaie, good thread. You should go a bit more into details on your moves though or threads like these need to be broken up. I felt I could have awarded even more Unarmed.
