Looking to meet people in Sylira, and Mage Craft

Postby Sahana on December 3rd, 2013, 9:32 pm

Hi guys I'm new in Sylira but I've got some substantial Rp experience under my belt, I'm looking to do projects for people and ill be finishing the products off with a Structural MC value of 1; of your choice + Izentor gnosis to finish the final product off.

For people with personal magics ill be offering MC values of 2, a novice or competent spell weave finished off with intelligence to shut it off before the item over gives. I'm doing this for the low low price of nothing, just bring the item you wish to have worked upon with you as I'm in the process of trying to work on mage smithing.

If you've ever wanted an enchanted weapon to compliment your knight, squire or mercenary this is your chance just send me a private message or drop me a line in this thread and we will work something out.

Plenty of free writing time and ambition to get started :)

Welcome to Syrilas! Were you planning on competing with Sultros Blades or working with?

If there is a job that is being offered I will probably take it, I have all well most of the mage craft tools but I don't have anywhere to forge items from scratch. Plus there's a certain ring to Sultros Blades that an Isur could appreciate

Isur are always welcome at Sultros Blades. You have the magecraft tools but you don't seem to have anywhere safe to use them. Of course the Knights have their own Master Magecrafter to enhance their blades which is why I backed off the skill whilst Eanos pursued the the metalcrafting side - but the Magecrafter has a laboratory that you could probably RP your way into borrowing.

Actually it might be the perfect timing since I've been eyeing the old and unused Magecrafters laboratory for Eanos's own Magecrafting.

I suspect that you also need a job. You have nowhere to live and no money to buy lodgings or food. The Knights have a very low tolerance for beggars or people sleeping on the streets so you'll either end up in The Tank or kicked out of the city. I'm not sure what your thought process was when you suggested working for free?

The Knights are likely to take a very dim view too of the Malediction (like cut off your head sort of thing) so you might want to think about exactly how you intend to run with that in the city. Or you might want to find a slightly dodgier city that doesn't have a resident magecrafter? Not pushing you either way as Eanos has much bigger plans and would be very happy to have another magecrafter to work with.

I feel the same way about that which is why I went immediately upon creation to the employment office. I suspect ill be given an oppurtunity to apprentice under the Mage crafter as I have enough skill behind my character to warrant it, ontop of Mage Crafting being incredibly rare even amongst PC competent is unusually hard to come across.

Thought process behind free crafting is MC values of two or was it three cost no catalysts Or reagents. So I'm offering my services for relatively nothing, while gaining storylines and character interactions and having a solid oppurtunity to hone my skills while also running a few solo job threads on the side as an apprentice for cash which will be plenty and seasonal xp.

So I'm confident I stand to gain alot by giving my skills out so players who would not normally be able to even dream of affording the luxury of an MC Item will be able to have one.

As for Malediction everyone has secrets, it makes the game a little more interesting
The concept I have is as an Isur we have the ability to shape and mold materials like wood, iron etc what's preventing the maledictor to take a full skeleton shape it into a ball stretch it out into a sword then Maledict it for all it's worth then imparting Izentor into it to make it hard as steel :)

Actually, even without a reagant or catalyst, crafting MC1-3 items still costs a good deal of mizas.

You need a pedestal to lay the item on, preferably a lab to work in, magecrafting tools, and charged water.

Check out the article again, it lets you know what the price of construction for each tier is. Technically speaking, you can sell it for a lot more than you make it for, but the initial start up price is still somewhat cumbersome.

This PC has the Blight gnosis. As such, you as a player need to be aware of what that consists of. Wrenmae has an invisible aura that amplifies sickness and disease. Wounds may become infected, small sneezes may become coughing, and a slight fever may become more serious. A nuit's body will also break down faster in the presence of the Blight. These effects may not be immediate, but within the few days following your encounter, the symptoms will manifest. Some sooner than others. I cannot control your character, so creativity will be left up to you. Best wishes and stay healthy!

I think that Malediction has much to offer, so I'd agree with you there. I've considered it in the past for pretty much the reasons you are running with it and when I eventually max out on my current skills I may look at it again. But there are only so many things that it's wise to do at the same time :)

You might want to run the giving out of MC items en masse for free past the staff - they might not quite so keen on the idea when you are using the city resources to fund it - MC is never free and the lore lists the cost of an MC 1 item at 1000 miza, note that is the cost not the selling price (and that cost is consistent so it doesn't include the tools). The lore writeup on MC is really poor in detail and in my experience skips an awful lot of stuff that you will need to figure out for yourself - unless you are a fan of the 'he worked hard and then it was done,' sort of RPing.

Oh and it's 'a lot' ;)

Usually it says you can sell MC'd products for almost thrice the listed cost...so churn out a few of them and you may well be able to make some for free with some of your profit.

But here's my big question about MC items with 1-2 processes. If you can do structural enhancements etc, purchased the item necessary to create the said item for example a sword where does this huge 1,000 MC cost value come in. Like what resources are you spending on the item to actually create it,

Like I get reagents and catalysts being aborbedent but I'm not understanding where the cost value to create the item comes from when doing the
Simplistic enhancements, I could see the costs for renting a wizard, or procuring reagents etc.

So I guess this means I'm scratching off making the enhancements as without Mage Craft I cannot craft an item with a value better then iron to impart Izentor into it. I think after this discussion procuring that job as an apprentice will be the single most critical step in my career as a Mage Crafter.

No doubts it's alot of work but I'm sure ill have a lot of fun in the process :)

I think you begin to understand some of my mild frustrations with the MC writeup :)

But on the other hand you didn't really think it was going to be that easy to create a PC who could immediately be rich, powerful and famous? I suspect that it is a deliberate brake to avoid people doing exactly what you were intending to do.

I suspect the cost comes from exactly what you are suggesting - when you craft something you need to recharge the tools, redo the glyphs (you can glyph well enough can't you?) etc. Add in the recovery time from the MC to the time needed to reset all the kit and suddenly you can only roll out one MC level every week.

Last season I sold some stuff too cheaply. I've realised that was a mistake and it has to change. My view is that if someone has the skill to use the MC enhanced item well enough then they have the earning potential to afford it, even if that means that they have to save for a season. If you were a swordsman would it not be worth saving for something that could cut through armour like butter? It would devalue the item and your skills if you just hand them out. If players can't afford an MC sword then they need to deal with that, it's good for RP. In my extensive RP experience nothing is worse than people handing out powerful kit to people who have done nothing more than be in the right place at the right time.

But that is my take on it :)

And it's still 'a lot.' ;)
