Barmaids and First Aid (Shiress)

Tourmal, Winter 39, 513 AV

The man was definitely angry at their intrusion into his own little castle. He was in charge of all that went on in the kitchen being the cook. Tourmal had to admit it was hard to get work done with people getting in the way. Shiress apologized for the mans outburst. The smith took no notice of it accepting it as normal.

The woman told him that her shift was over and seemed relieved. Then she invited him to her place. 'Bow chicka bow wow' the man thought. 'Oh yeah.' But his other side retorted with 'Wait a minute now Tourmal get your head in the game nothing is going on between the two of you.' 'Oh come on now she invited us to her place, first the Soothing Waters now her place. She wants us.' 'No she want's us to stop bleeding all over the place. Why else would she treat our arm with snow?' 'Maybe you are right, but I still think she wants us.'

“No I don't.” The main replied. “But do you think I can bring a pitcher of mead with me? I already payed for it now didn I?” He said as he grabbed his mug and downed the rest of the drink. Then donned his gloves, cloak, scarf and hood. “Ok I am ready as soon as I get that pitcher.”

Shiress nodded "Yes, I reckon a pitcher is your's for the taking." she said, stepping behind the bar, topped of the mead and handed it over the counter to the man. "Now don't go getting drunk" she warned, a half grin on her face "I mean to tend your arm, not worry how a drunk Tourmal gets home, okay?"

She organized the contents of the tray into her bag and stepped back around the bar, slinging her cloak around her back as she headed for the door and held it open for the man to step through "Just a short walk that way" she said motioning one arm in the direction of Travelers Row as the other pulled the hood of her cloak around her head.

Night had fallen quiet and still on the city. The streets were near empty and covered in a thin layer of white powder that speckled the air around them. Shiress led the man quietly down the familiar path to her apartment, her steps crunching softly as she moved carefully beneath the street lamps. It was indeed a short walk and took no time to reach the entrance that led to her small hiding hole, as Shiress calls it.

"So" she called over her shoulder as she stepped through the door and into the corridor "how did you have the fortune of making the acquaintance of the good doctor, Orion Michaels?" The torches along the stoned path before them flickered and danced as cold air flowed through the opened door and wafted through the hall. Shiress paused, fumbling for her keys as Tourmal passed through, before leading the way again.

"Well, here we are" she said, pushing the key into the handle and, with a click, she pushed the door open and soft torchlight flooded into her tiny apartment. Shiress moved quickly across the floor to the fireplace, gathering up clothing as she stepped and tossing them behind a wooden chest.

"Sorry for the mess, I wasn't expecting any company. Just make yourself comfortable and I'll get a fire going"

“Yesss.” The main said pumping his fist, as the woman confirmed his request was fine. Then the smith accepted the pitcher from her and held it in his off hand. “Me? Drunk, No.” He said sarcasticly while giving her a wink and a flirtatious smile. “Is that all? Just me arm? Where is the fun in that?” He retorted.

As the woman readied her supplies and garb Tourmal took a sip from the pitcher. “Mmmm.” The woman opened the door for the Drykas. Stubbornly he refused and switched the pitcher to his other hand, slightly flinching from the pain, and grabbed the door with his good arm. “No no no, now missy don't be treatin me special just because me arm. After you.” He said slightly bowing.

And like that the two were on their way to the barmaids home. Tourmal followed Shiress though the dark path down the snow covered street. As the two reached the door to the Travelers Row and Shiress stepped through it, she asked him about Orion. “Meh.” He said shrugging off the man as if he wasn't so great. “To make a long story short. Some time after he lost his wife he came into the Stallion. Drank way too much, and scared away all of the tail in the buildin.” I felt bad for the boy and tried to help him out. Instead he wretched all over the place, and I helped him home after being kicked out.” He paused. “And ever since then, we been friends.”

By the time he was finished with the story she had the key in the door. “Here we are.” She said. Then she opened the door and hurried to clean up the place. “You know for such a pretty barmaid as yerself, I'd expect you to be expectin more company.” He said in response to her apology, again winking and smiling at her.

The man walked over to her bed, looked at it and couldn't help but envision her and Orion together in it. The man turned around trying to get the picture out of his head taking a drink from the pitcher. “So where do ya want me to sit?”

Shiress had half been listening to the man as he spoke about meeting Orion and it wasn't until chimes later that it hit her, like a lightening bolt, what Tourmal had mentioned. Green eyes widened and flicked up "Wait" she said, searching her memory as she stood and stepped from the fireplace, eyebrows raised with interest "did you say that Orion lost a..a wife?"

For as much as She wanted to enjoy this little tidbit of information on the one Doctor Orion Michaels, she couldn't. Shiress knew how it felt to lose someone that you love. She had felt the empty, deep hole that grief leaves in ones heart, the helplessness and anger, but for Shiress it wasn't just one love, it was her entire family. Unaware if they were alive or dead, tortured or at peace, it was a feeling she visited each time she thought of them. She couldn't be happy to know that Orion had felt such familiar pain.

Could she?

Of course not!

Right?

Shiress' eyes fell to her hands as her fingers clasps together "That's truly sad" she commented, speaking to herself more than the man who had informed her "that must have hurt Orion deeply" she added, thinking aloud. She then fell silent, further pondering the unfortunate news.

The sound of her company's voice brought her from her thoughts. She shook her head, deciding she would ask no further questions concerning the doctor turned squire. She couldn't help but think this was something she shouldn't know. "Oh! Sorry!" she called out, her voice a bit louder than she meant it to be. The smile returned to her lips as she pulled a chair out from the table "here, sit here" As Tourmal made his way to the chair she slipped her bag from around her shoulder and sat it on the table and began pulling out the stowed items to tend his arm "this shouldn't take too long." she stated, taking a seat and motioning for his arm across the table.

Tourmal, Winter 39, 513 AV

The man looked at her in confusion. “Yeh didn't know?” He realized he had said too much. “I prolly shouldn't a said that then.” Tourmal had a knack fer talking he like most Drykas was an open book. He often regretted revealing too much too quick. The woman continued commenting about Orion's issue. “I'm sure it did, he was a mess when I found him.” He looked away. Then he looked back. “But look at him now he seems alright doesn't he.” The smithy said trying to cover for his friends hardship.

The man sat down, pitcher still in hand. She smiled and he drank then she motioned for his arm. The man raised the pitcher back to his mouth and gave another couple of gulps. After setting it down he wiped his mouth with his left arm. “Beautiful, what's yer hurry?” The man asked wondering why she was so eager to get him bandaged up.

He extended his hand and grabbed hers. “Your hands are just like ice.” The man reached over with his other. “Hold on now before you go workin on me, Let me warm em up a bit.” The man rubbed her hands gingerly trying to get them to warm up. Having used his hands the whole day, they were much warmer than hers. They were also much more course. Her hands were so small and soft. He looked at her kindly.

“So, now hows about some bedside manner. Tell me a little about yerself kind doctor.” He smiled and winked. The mans hands slowed as some heat came to the woman's hands. He continued rubbing though mainly because he enjoyed it. Having her hands in his gave him a feeling he hadn't experienced in some time. It was like a small match had been lit inside his chest. “Aside from working at the Stallion, what else have you done, and how did you learn to treat injuries?”

Shiress only nodded with agreement to the man's comment, deciding it would be better to end her part of the conversation. She new better than to think that Orion was doing alright. She had spent many a conversation with Hadyn stating the opposite, but she was out of place to say so and remained silent, watching the man as he approached and took his seat at the table.

She was taken off guard as her hands were covered with his, she instinctively pulled back, but the mans grip was strong and for a tick it frightened her, but his soft spoken words quickly drove away any fear. As Tourmal gently rubbed the warmth back to her hands, a wondrous gaze searched his features before settling on his striking green eyes, becoming lost in his gaze a moment, before glancing away as the warmth building in her body settled a rose color in her cheeks.

She pulled her hands away, a shy grin touching her lips as she spoke "There's not much to tell" she admitted, running her fingers through her hair "I'm rather boring I'm afraid" she laughed "I work, go home and wake up to repeat the same the next day, save a visit or two with a friend and her newborn. And what I know about the care of others, sick or injured, I learned from my mother. I grew up in Zeltiva and she was a nurse at the University's infirmary and I often accompanied her to work."

Shiress paused, shaking her head amused as her arm stretched out across the table and, using the tips of her fingers, she gently wiped away a patch of amber colored froth from Tourmal's cheek. "And you? she asked, her hand retreating with a smile "do you always injure yourself for the sympathy of a fair maiden?"

Barmaids and First Aid (Shiress)

Postby Tourmal Firemane on January 24th, 2014, 4:50 am

Tourmal, Winter 39, 513 AV

After Shiress pulled her hands away the drykas' hands instinctively went to the pitcher, but his eyes stayed on his healer. She seemed unsure of herself, it may be his predatory personality, or maybe something else, but her uncertainty pushed him to pursue. For some reason he could not stop doing something. Weather it was work or play he had to be busy. When he took breaks he usually just ate and went back to work. When he got off work he walked straight home and took a bath then went straight to the Stallion to drink. There really wasn't any time that he wasted. Well, some might consider his drinking a waste of time. As for Tourmal though, he didn't.

The woman shared a bit about herself. “Boring?” He said. “For the short time I have known you I would have to say there hasn't been a boring tick that has gone by.” She didn't share much other than her daily routine. If the man wanted more information he would have to pry it out of her. “Zeltiva? How is it there?” It wasn't much but it was a start.

Shiress then wiped the mans cheek clean. Which Tourmal normally didn't let people do, but his nerves and senses were dulled and he was slowly falling into a state of infatuation. The voices in his head by then had nearly been silenced. He only heard faint whispers slowly fading into the distance. He looked at the woman across him and chuckled. “No, as you know Orion is normally my doctor. This time I happen to have gotten lucky.” He said looking deeply into her eyes. The man scooted the chair closer to the table.

“I hate to ruin the fun but, you said you brought me here to heal me? And me arm might feel much better, but it sure don't look any better.” He moved his arm forward reminding his nurse of the mission at hand. “If it ain't too painful we can keep talkin as you wrap me up.” The man looked at the brunette. 'I sure hope I get healers this good lookin from now on.' He thought to himself.

"Zeltiva" she whispered, memories flooding back as she gazed off thoughtfully "it's a wonderful place, or, at least, it was when once I had family there. I spent much time playing pirates and fair maiden's with my brother on the ships that my father worked on. We would steal wrappings and cotton from my mother and doused them with tomatoes and wrap ourselves up" she laughed "was a bloody adventure to be sure." she paused, resting her chin in the palm of her hand "we never had winter's as this one, with snow I mean. A wind would come off the tips of the mountains that could send a grown man running for a fire. Bonesnapper they called it, but my brother and I would play and play in the cold." she paused again as her arms stretched out across the table and her fingers clasped "seems forever ago, almost a different life with different people in my mind's eye now" She fell silent, eyes distant in thought.

The man's voice again prodded her back from seasons long ago, she smiled embarrassed as green eyes turned up bashfully "Sorry she apologized "I'm quite the day dreamer it seems"

She slid her chair closer to the table and pulled the man's arm across and positioned it so that his wound was directly beneath the candle's light. With her fingertip's she gently pulled away the loose, charred skin around the wound, grimacing slightly at the man's misfortune.

"Now" she said, leaning over, grabbing a jar of thick, amber liquid "this may sting a bit" She placed a cloth under Tourmal's arm, unwrapped the twine from around the jar and tipped it over the burned area, allowing a nice smooth stream of the sticky substance to run down and cover the wound. Using her fingertip's again, she smoothed out the honey to the edges of the burn, making sure every inch had a nice, thick covering. "I bet you never thought honey could cure a burn, huh?" she smiled, glancing up for the man's reaction "one of many things my sweet mother taught me and this is the other" She slid her finger along the edge of the jar to clean off the remnants of the honey, replaced the cloth and secured it again with the twine before scooting it across the table "two or three spoonfuls of this honey a day, by mouth, and your wound will not fester" she grinned "doctor's orders!

She slid back her chair and stood, wiping her hands against a cloth and stepped around the table, pulling and positioning her chair along with her. She sat again by the man's side and slowly pulled his arm to her lap and began wrapping his wound, end over end tightly. She tore three long pieces of cloth from an old blouse and tied them around the wrappings, securing it against the man's arm.

"There" she stated, satisfied she had done her best "that should keep you until you see your doctor, but" she added, tilting her head to meet the man's gaze "please, you must see Orion about this arm, OK? Promise?" she frowned slightly, pulling down her brow "does it fill any better?"

Barmaids and First Aid (Shiress)

Postby Tourmal Firemane on January 29th, 2014, 3:22 am

Tourmal, Winter 39, 513 AV

Her description of Zeltiva seemed nice enough for a child. It would have been fun playing on ships with his brother. However he saw nothing in which would drive him to go there. He guessed he could get a job as a blacksmith and make ship parts. He already had some experience with a few things here or there, but not much. It would be a tough life for him. However the woman seemed fond of it, just a he was fond of the Sea of Grass. So he would respect her enough not to say anything against it.

The woman grabbed his arm and pulled it closer to her. The heat of the candle was warm and slowly became uncomfortable, slightly aggravating his wound. The man dealt with it understanding it was necessary that she see what she was doing. His arm twinged as she pulled away the burnt skin from what was previously a blister. Un covered he looked at what had happened to him and finally realized that it was worse than he thought. The man was too afraid to look before instead thinking that he could shrug off the pain with a few pints of mead.

Tourmal took another gulp of the mead. Then the woman warned him of what was to come. He clenched his jaw in anticipation. When the honey hit the wound he exhaled through his teeth. “Ahhh.” Then he inhaled and exhaled again until he had grown accustomed to the feeling. “No, no I did not.” Tourmal shook his head. After the woman had given him his prescription he looked at the woman with a renewed sense of respect. The man smiled softly and wrapped his hand around the woman's wrist. He then leaned forward and brought it close to his face. Then he quickly placed her honey covered finger in his mouth and licked it clean. “That's one spoonful down.” The man winked at his doctor.

The woman moved next to him and wrapped his arm up nice and snug. Then told him to check up with Orion. After it was wrapped he stood up and walked to the door leaning on the door post. “Who knows when he will be back. Why can't I follow up with you? You are much more easy on the eyes.” The man didn't promise. “Better? Not much, but you know... It would feel a lot better if you gave me a kiss.” The man said leaning forward slightly pointing to his cheek with his good hand.

By now he had lost all his inhibitions, the only reason he stood up was because he figured she would be kicking him out of her house anyways. One little kiss was worth a shot and if it went further that was a bonus. Just then he thought to himself that he would turn his head just as she came forward to give him a peck on the cheek and the two's lips would lock. He thought to himself 'Genius, simply genius, Tourmal'.

Barmaids and First Aid (Shiress)

Gods bless

Shiress slid her lip between her teeth as her finger disappeared into the mans mouth, her body growing suddenly numb as his lips closed and her finger slowly emerged again. Either he had no idea of what he was doing to her or knew full well, but either way, Shiress was taken off guard and speechless, among other things.

As Tourmal stood and moved away, she was left staring at her moist digit dumbly. Her eyes drifted slowly forward to trail the mans steps to the door, her gaze lingering on his plump rear-end a tick before she puckered her lips and blew a strand of hair from her eyes.

Gods get a grip, Shiress. You've known him for what, a bell?

She watched arching a brow as the man perch himself against the door "well" she began, clearing her throat as she stood "I wont argue that logic, but Orion is a doctor and you should call on him soon" She tossed the towel to the table and made her way to the door to see Tourmal on his way.

"A kiss, huh?" she shook her head "Orion can help with that too, if you ask nice enough, I'm sure" She added with a laugh. Lifting herself to the tips of her toes she placed her hands against the mans chest and leaned in, pressing her lips against him. The breath caught in her throat as she felt Tourmal's soft lips against her's. Stolen by the moment her eyes closed as her fingers curled into fists around the man's shirt and she leaned closer, pressing her body against his, her tongue slipping passed her lips to dash across his.

No, no, no, no! I can't be used. she thought I won't let another man use me...hurt me

Shiress pulled back, her emerald gaze locked on the man's lips as she pushed her trembling body away from his. Blinking, she took a deep breath and brushed hair behind her ear. "I--" she cleared her throat "that was unexpected" She stepped around the man flustered, her movements erratic "You should be fine now" she said, smiling weakly "I'll just go ahead and leave" reaching for the door, she paused, covering her blushed face with her hand and turned back "I mean you can leave, actually" she corrected, shaking her head embarrassed "cause I live here, you see" she paused trying to collect herself. Shifting her weight, she cleared her throat again, leaned against the wall and pulled open the door reluctantly "You have a nice day -er- evening, Tourmal, and I hope your arm feels better soon"
