Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

For a long while, the Pycon stared at her and wondered if he'd skipped some part of this conversation entirely. Or whether she was reciting some sort of poetry. It was nice to listen to, but had little to no relevance at all. And always one to speak his mind, the Pycon announced, "I would have thought it'd take the form of an ocean, if it was an ocean." To have the ocean in a book? Or a quill? Or anything other than an ocean? Preposterous. He may not have been as well read a squirrel as many others but he surely knew an ocean when he saw it. Perhaps he was missing out on some important, unspoken part of this.. but he wasn't getting it and so the subject was dropped as quickly as it was raised. He needed to find more equipment after all - he couldn't just run out there head-long and wing it, much as he desperately wanted to. After all, real squirrels did that. They didn't need dogs to ride, or tents to pitch, or fires to make. They lived off the woods, thrived off the outdoors and the wilderness. They survived through it all! And he may have been a Pycon but deep insdie this crust of clay lay the heart of a squirrel. And the mind of the squirrel.

Neither did squirrels have weapons but that was the one thing he hoped to change. "Cutlass? What're they?" He only knew about the conventional knight-ly weapons and the like. And the few Pycon weapons that had been designed over the ages by Pycons themselves or others in the name of Pycon. He actually hoped to pick up a few more of them while he was around. He had his Py-Pole, but that was just the start. He needed something else too.. something that he could use from the trees. Not a bow, those things were far too large, and he'd have to have one especially made for him. No. He needed something nice and small. "Are cutlass' similar to longswords?" He really knew little about weapons, other than the few that belonged to knights.

Nor did he know about many places, other than those that are home, or were home, to knights. "Svefra. Couldn't they pick a name that's easier to say?" Squirrels didn't have the same tongues, it felt alien to roll his tongue in the new ways that he did to even pronounce the name. And the sheer thought of the sea.. that had him in a shiver. "Afraid I won't be able to go near that.. erm.. I'm not a good swimmer." His one weakness. Although it wasn't much of a weakness. Why swim when he could climb? Swimming was the same as climbing anyway, he'd been taught. Just the same movements over a different kind of tree. These ones were wet. "And I don't want to learn how to swim either. Just in case the message hadn't been clear the first time he'd said it. His father had offered it once.. insisted that every Pycon should learn how to swim, for it was a skill that was as essential as learning to change their bodies. He'd never really understood why but it was the one time that he'd actually come to oppose the Pycon elder.

"My dad? Oh no, he's not with us anymore." He shook his head but there was a smile playing on his lips. Perhaps he didn't understand what she'd meant in her question. "He couldn't stay here after all. He's back in the Bronze Woods with my mum!" Crisis averted, both of his parents were alive and well. After all, it hadn't been too long ago when his father had helped escort the younger Archailist across the Wilderness and towards Nyka, to begin his journey. Back then, the younger Archailist hadn't even known if he would return. It had been his dream of becoming a knight, but perhaps there were others than the Sylirans? Well, now he knew better. He was going to be a Syliran Knight. It'd be a welcome surprise for his parents. He knew that much.
