Artur couldn't help but croon his head to the side as Miro lead on to suggest that there could've been something better for them to do, something that the Kelvic would surely enjoy instead of herb gathering like he was meant to do. The suggestion to buy the things he needed along with lunch made his eyebrows raise in excitement, as he always loved to eat more than anything in the whole of Mizahar. That's right. The quickest way to Artur's heart was by all means through his stomach, so it was only natural his perk up in expression would reveal that he very much liked the idea.

"Yeah yeah!" He nodded with enthusiasm as he felt his stomach grumble a little, it was rather empty and spacious now considering he'd lost his earlier meal... no thanks to the trip over the lake. "This'll only take a moment!" He cheered as he headed over to the pile of clothes he dropped earlier, he had his back turned to Miro the whole time so he didn't notice the random positioning of the arm, which was used to predict the proper direction back to the docks. The bear was all the more eager to hurry and be dressed, a few bounces on a foot here and there as he slipped the trousers on first. Once he'd tied the string together and fastened the belt to keep them at his waist, the shirt was the next to be slipped on... although he did it rather ungracefully.

A few stumbles and movements to pull his shirt over his head finally, and then he was able to roll the rest of it down to cover his hairy torso. After that was finished he slipped on the shoes he had and placed the pack he carried over his shoulder, and turned once more to face Miro with a hearty grin on his face. "Let's go get lunch then!" He cheered in his naivety as he returned to the mage's side. He then remembered that the return trip would have to be done by the same way as the trip here, and then looked a little less enthusiastic about it as before when he thought to share an important bit of detail. "Oh. I might need a bit before we eat though, travel over water makes me sick."He noted as he recalled the sour days spent over the Suvan Sea, though that was when he first sailed over to Syliras. Why he would get sick from it now, seeing as the lake wasn't part of the sea, didn't make all that much sense to the bear really.

Had something to do with the motions though, or so he believed. He couldn't tell for sure, only knew that travel over water had that effect on him. "Other than that though I'll be happy to go wherever you choose when we get to Ravok again." He returned to the same cheery state he was in before as he started to follow Miro, who now led them back in the directions towards the ferry. He was by far too oblivious and too naive to realize that Miro very well had reason to manipulate him.

oocBah! One of my shorter basic posts, at any rate I went ahead and got us started back onto the path towards Ravok so you can move us along to your liking. ;)

Magic Man and Brown Bear Too

Miro lead the way back to the ferry as quickly as he could manage, and the two boarded just in time. It was not but a few chimes before the boat set off on its trip back to Ravok. It seemed Artur was excited for such things, which was good. That part of the manipulation would be well taken care of. It would help persuade in the transfer of ownership. Though it would be important to ensure the affections were fully won over.

The Kelvic was one to get sick when on water, which was unfortunate. It would mean his mood would sour a bit. But perhaps there was something that could be done. The undead had an idea. As their trip across the lake began, he began to speak to Artur. He charged his voice with Djed and began to cast hypnotic spells as he spoke. He channeled emotional responses to calm the Kelvic's mind and focus it.

"You know Artur, there is a trick to keeping from getting sick. You just have to focus, tell yourself you wont. Keep your mind on that one thought and don't let it go. Your mind will be too busy telling itself it won't feel bad to let you get sick." The Hypnotist spoke in a gentle and friendly voice and moved himself closer to his target. He placed a hand gently on the man's shoulder.

The wizard looked his naive friend in the eyes and continued to cast on him. "Just keep reminding yourself something over and over." This time he matched his words with subconscious suggestions to reinforce them. The words would root themselves in his mind, "I won't get sick, I won' get sick, I won't get sick." He repeated the suggestion thrice to further implant it.

He hoped that it would be enough to keep the Kelvic composed through the trip. Likely enough to keep him silent, to allow the undead to enjoy it in silence. Relative silence at least. In the four bells it took, rarely if ever did Ender keep silent. This was one situation he knew the Irylid would not pass up. Always so in need of making his opinion known.

The Familiar communicated telepathically through the bond to his master. "Told you I am always right. Keep it up with Artur, win him over. You are planning to keep him, aren't you? To do what, bribe the owner, threaten him if he declines? Offer him money, Hypnotize him, use the false kindness you showed Artur as leverage." The creature knew his partner all too well.

Ender was right, completely right, but what was his point? "Yes, of course I am. What else would I be doing all of this for? Have you taken up pointing out the obvious, or have you some relevance to your interruption?" the Irylid did have more to say, though he was unsure how it would be received. "When you do obtain him, you will need to do something with him. Perhaps I could use him as my own servant."

Miro found the offer ridiculous, even somewhat offensive. The Familiar was able to sense these emotions through the bond and continued to explain his position. "This Kelvic could easily get himself into trouble, and you can not always watch him. I could keep him safe, have him wear me, train him. Together I could guide him to be a more useful asset to you. He could help me to better serve you as well."

With things presented in such a way, they made sense to the Chained One. Though he was not ready to accept such a proposal right now. "I understand well, and I will consider it. What you say makes sense, but there are other things to consider." Mostly he did not like to be told what to do. The rest of the trip remained quiet, Ender eager to keep his master pleased.

When finally the ferry arrived at the docks, Miro made his way to the nearest channel and called over a Ravosalaman. He gave directions to his home nearby and paid in advance. On the way he explained what they were to do. "We are on the way to my home. I will stop in to grab a bit of money, but I will be right back out. You can wait here, and then we will go to the shop." He did not want Artur to see how much money he would get.

The Ravosala arrived at the wizards home and he requested the man stand by with the promise of payment. He hurried inside and to his room, into the chest where he kept his money. He opened it and began to take out pouches of money, each of them filled with 100 gold-rimmed miza. He took ten of them, ready to pay that much for the Kelvic. The money was put into a backpack slung over his shoulder, and he returned to the boat.

Directions were given to the shop of choice, one frequented by Miro's personal servant. A place where various foods could be purchased. All sorts of food items could be purchased here. Though the undead was not one to know much in the way of cooking. He placed ten miza on the table and made his request. "I would like a few pounds of fresh fish and some spices and seasonings. Parsley and the like, whatever I can get."

Miro turned to Artur and spoke to him, sure that the Kelvic knew best. "You tell him Artur, get whatever you need. Whatever you want. I can spend more money, it doesn't bother me. After this we can go to another shop or I can take you home. I am in no rush." That was a lie, the Chained One could not wait to make an offer on the Kelvic. He was itching to finally get a chance to win over the owner.

Upon taking the ferry back Artur did his best to hide the fact he would get sick, eventually though the motions of the boat led to him to start cradling his stomach a bit. He was feeling nauseated again and it wasn't getting any better for him, in turn leading his stomach to start it's rolling around as the gentle motions of the boat added to the situation as a whole. It was then Miro took to helping him further and suggested something, something that made Artur already feel slightly better upon feeling the hand placed upon his shoulder. "That actually works?" He asked in a slightly paled look as he felt his stomach slowly churn into what felt like complete rolls. It was then Miro told him what it was that needed to be said, more less repeated to distract him from the problem.

I won't get sick. I won't get sick. I won't get sick. Those words sunk in and when they did he couldn't help but feel the suggestion worth trying, Miro did after all save him from that creature earlier. He nodded with a weak smile on his face, to show that he was going to follow through with the notion. If it would spare the Kelvic from getting sick again, then he would by all means take it and hope for the best. I won't get sick, I won't get sick, I won't get sick, I won't get sick. h repeated constantly in his mind as he solely focused on those specific words, the repetitive thought a cycle that never seemed to end as the sound of water gently lapped all around. He couldn't let that distract him. Even when he knew he was in a boat he had to focus on those words said to him, to keep from getting sick while they were on the return trip back to Ravok.

Finally the bells passed and for what felt like an age of eternity for Artur was over, yet the getting back on "land" part was still a process in the work as Artur felt his legs were jelly. Sure enough they were bound to ride in yet another boat like thing that would escort them to another part of the city, which brought the bear to mentally challenge himself as he kept his eyes close the whole way and in turn continued the cycle of repetition. True it worked in regards to keep him from getting sick, but in terms of fighting the feeling his stomach had inside that was a different story. Yet when the time came to wait for Miro to head on inside his place, the bear would nod with a weary expression and watch with a faint smile as he allowed Miro to disappear for a bit. Finally. Now was his chance.

Artur allowed himself to let it go, to let it out as his stomach rolled over once. Then another time, and another until finally the next roll caused a heave. A heave that made him cringe, as he would turn to the other side of the Ravosala and spew out what contents remained left in his stomach. This happened a couple more times until at last the inside of his belly settled some, and the nausea in turn started to wear out a little. He hated boats. It was official. He just hated them altogether, for whatever reason caused him to get sick. Sure enough Miro was returning and the bear pretended as though he were the same as he was left, a small faint grin on his face as he remained optimistic about how the food would be in turn. He was definitely hungry now, yet an unsettled stomach was best to avoid filling.

All the same he would try to avoid further complications with this odd illness, and in turn kept quiet as he remembered to repeat the words once more to keep from getting sick any more... if it were possible now. With the trip made and the arrival to the shop the bear could only wonder in curiosity at what exactly this place had, and when Miro turned to him with the instruction to get whatever he needed, the Kelvic's face drooped into surprise as he never thought he'd be the one to make such calls. "Me? Oh... Okay." He faced the clerk with both a curious and puzzled look, his mind in thought as he tried to think of everything he'd need to make fish. What went well with fish? He'd not really cooked it in a while, not since his mother first taught him anyway.

The ponder led to him thinking hard, until at last he came up with an idea on what he needed. "Sage, parsley, and cumin all ground, lemon and lime for the juices, salt and pepper, garlic, and then honey!" He cheered with a bit of enthusiasm to return the color in his face, though he looked as though he forgot one important thing to say up until now. "Please?" The request was an odd one but all the same the clerk was nice enough to get an assortment of everything, although not in the amount Artur would've preferred were he in a real kitchen. Still it was all that and the fish Miro had ordered, and in turn the man would pay for it all before they headed off to wherever else Artur wanted. Except now... Artur wanted to eat. Now that he had the means to cook something he liked anyway.

"How about we go to what ever place you had in mind for me to cook, and I'll make some fierce fish out of this for us!" He suggested as he clutched the bag of contents from the store dearly, he was no doubt a protector of the food when it came to being the hungry one.

Magic Man and Brown Bear Too

Postby Miro on May 18th, 2014, 10:21 pm

Miro was pleased to see that his companion was so happy. The innocent excitement of something as simple as buying a few spices made the undead smirk a bit. Such a simple thing the Kelvics were. Even more amusing when the formalities were tacked on at the end. It caused a slight chuckle to slip out. Perhaps there was something more to Artur than just a bear with the ability to take a Human form.

The Kelvic asked where to take the fish to be cooked, which was a good question. Not because it caused the undead to consider where, but because it prompted him to give the answer he had planned. "I bought that for you. You were out gathering herbs for the kitchen there. You cook for Master Gyatt, to thank him for rescuing you, so that is where we will go." It was already a kindness for Artur, but this is where attention shifted to this Master Gyatt.

"I was thinking you could cook up a meal to enjoy with your master. I bought it just for you, so you could do something special. And while you are cooking, I will have a chance to talk to Gyatt." Though that was just the way things would appear. This act of kindness, the talk they would have, it'd be about ownership rights. The persuasive power of money and Hypnotism would see that he was successful in the acquisition.

For now they had to get there. "Artur, you know the way home. Let's not take a Ravosala this time. I don't want you to feel sick. We will just walk." Or should he have said he did not want his companion to look sick. The happier that Artur was the better it made Miro look. "I hope that is not a problem. I am just very interested in having a talk with this Gyatt person. You are a Kelvic, and that can be dangerous. As can trips out of the city."

There were a few things that the Chained One wished to use to convince the sale to go through. He would show how much Artur liked him, how much more could he could provide for the Kelvic. Though it would take nothing short of magic to get a person to look past his appearance. There was still plenty of time to prepare on the way. Hopefully after a nice meal the man would be ready to make a deal.

The look on Artur's face changed into a hearty smile as he agreed that the idea would be a splendid one, why not make a meal for both all three of them since he was in the mood to cook once again! That is of course if Miro decided he wanted to eat, still it never hurts to be prepared when it comes to cooking. Thus the Kelvic cheerfully nodded before he gave a response to Miro's suggestion, "Sounds like a good idea Miro! I know I don't have anything to fear with you around, so we can just go to Master Gyatt's house together and you two can meet one another!" Without further ado the idea was placed in mind and of course set to stone, as the bear happily took the lead to guide Miro onward towards the place he called his temporary home.

Of course he was overly blind to the intention that Miro had due to his own naivety, but Artur couldn't help the fact he was starting to feel blissfully happy like he did before. That same carefree demeanor he once owned hadn't shown itself in a long time, not since before he arrived to Ravok under several conditions that weighed on his heart and mind. He had to grow up sometime though, sometime later on he would have to learn and know better. As for now? Who cares! He was going to cook fish! He hadn't cooked fish in a long while, so the opportunity was definitely one he felt good about. The bear lead Miro onward towards the Noble District that he became quite acquainted with, seeing as how Gyatt's own residence seemed to dwell here, and in turn they soon arrived to find the large three story building front after almost a couple bells worth in a walk.

"Master Gyatt lives here Miro sir, I'll make sure he knows you're a friend so you'll be welcome too." He assured the man behind him with a grin as they walked in through the entrance, upon sight there would be the main hallway with a staircase tucked in the middle, and of course further on down the other half of the hall. Doorways were open for those who would wish to enter the rooms beyond their frames, and of course Artur led the way to the living area first to see if his master had taken to study there for the afternoon. He did. "Master Gyatt sir," He reluctantly addressed now that he approached the man, he didn't consider that the man might take offense of the new stranger that followed him home.

"For the last time Artur," Gyatt sighed as he didn't look up from his book, "Call me Gyatt when you're in this house. You may be a servant but you're still a free man in your own right." He finally broke sight away from the book to offer a gentle smile to the bear, only to find it diminished with the sight of another behind the bear. "We've a guest?"

"Just one sir- I mean, Gyatt. Sir Miro here saved my life earlier today, and I wanted to thank him by making a wonderful dinner for us all." The bear spoke humbly to his master as he explained this, a hearty chuckle followed from the man that rested in his chair as he crooned his head just slightly to the side. He no doubt found it interesting how Artur would bring home a random person, a random person who no doubt liked to wear a skull for a mask and had claws for fingertips in turn. "He even bought the stuff to make tonight's dinner, so I can get started right away."

"That so?" Gyatt laughed a little then, a touched smile on his face as he then looked to Miro. "You have my thanks sir, poor Artur here has had a rough start since he arrived in Ravok." He nodded in respect to his appreciation, before he gave Artur one more look of approval. "Go on then, make tonight's dinner a feast worth celebrating!" He encouraged as he nodded towards the kitchen, the Kelvic took a wide pleased smile on his own as he marched off eagerly to the kitchen area then, leaving Miro to visit with Gyatt in the spare time he would prepare dinner. "Please, have a seat. He won't take long to whip up something together." He enthused warmly as he relaxed in his chair, curious eyes fully engaged on the piece of work before him. Gyatt was many things but simple wasn't one of them, and he knew Artur well enough to consider the chances that he'd been manipulated, and Miro definitely had that air about him no less.

"I must say since he first arrived its been a challenge for Artur to settle in, this makes twice now that he found trouble on the shore and the first time he was only fortunate. The ingrates that had the balls to attack him only took a small dose of his blood, likely seeking too make Wildleash Poison out of it no doubt. Still, two incidents is more than enough for me. I'll probably have to consider otherwise in terms of herb collecting, probably just resort to simpler tasks seeing as how he's still getting used to the city." He remarked before he took a sip out of a tea mug at the table next to him, he then returned his attention to Miro just afterwards as noise could be heard from the kitchen. "While it may look like Artur as a knack for encountering trouble, I'm curious to know what exactly happened this time." He posed in hopes that Miro, who looked to be a "hero" in the Kelvic's opinion, would come up with a good answer to. He was most indeed quite curious.

Artur of course had already become lost in the realm of zen once more, his mind solely focused on the cooking as he placed several bowls out and a cutting board next to them, the fish being prepped on said board while he sorted out his ingredients to start the process of marinating the meat before cooking.

oocSorry for the wait! Made up for it by advancing the plot though, and the highlighted words in Artur's dialogue is the results of Miro's "impulses" through hypnotism. ;) Just fyi.

Magic Man and Brown Bear Too

Postby Miro on June 2nd, 2014, 4:07 pm

Miro walked along the streets with Artur, ready to finally meet his master. The amount of coin he carried with him would ensure that he had what was needed. As long as he got a proper chance to weave his hypnotic spells that was. The Kelvic would make a fine servant or pet, whichever role provided better control. The way it was now, it was a bit of a risky investment, but with some work all would end well. Though it would hardly be an easy task.

Eventually the pair found their way to the target destination. Apparently the undead was going to accepted as a proper guest. As lovely as it sounded, such a claim was met with skepticism. Most were not so welcoming of such a figure. They were not in the Docks, this was the Noble District, which meant obvious things. It was more than likely the Kelvic had overstepped some bound. But the guy seemed confident enough, so why not?

It was a bit awkward to just enter, but Miro could not turn away. He followed Artur in and kept quiet and patient. The Chained One kept poised and reserved, eager to observe the relationship and happenings of the home. There must much to take in. All of it would be useful when applied to Hypnotism. It did seem Gyatt was indeed a kind man. The Kelvic was allowed quite a long leash. This was all good

Though when the attention shifted to Miro, he was worried for a bit. A firm nod was given in acknowledgement as he was spoken for. This was where all of the hard worked manipulation came into play. It indeed made up for much of the Chained One's less desirable qualities. It resulted in a sincere thanking, of which a reply was humbly given, "Of course sir." Artur was sent off to the kitchen, and the wizard was invited to sit. Now it seemed things would begin.

Miro made his way to sit with as m uch grace as he could manage, no haste held in his movements. Gyatt spoke and the guest listened carefully. After an informative rambling it was finally the Hypnotist's turn to speak. Things were going well so far. "Yes, I can see why Artur has trouble, he is a very gentle soul. I know nothing more about this former incident you speak of, or of poison, but I can see why it would be of concern. In the short time I've known Artur now, I have had them too."

Gyatt was hinting at something, a possibility, though veiled it was. What really the man told his guest was to sell his story, see if it could be bought. Or rather, see if it could be picked apart. It would not be so simple. The wizard began to focus his Djed to his voice and channel emotional responses of respect and gratitude as he spoke. "I told him that it was too dangerous to go picking herbs on his own. I took him to a shop I knew of, bought what he needed."

The undead purposely dodged the subject of what had happened, as he needed to make a few tasteful edits. It was a shame that the Kelvic would have his own version of the story too, but he should not have seen too much. Miro empowered his voice again as he gave a chuckle, his laugh carrying a suggestion, "Trust Miro." He spoke in a soft voice empowered with Djed and began to weave a more complicated spell with his powerful influence.

"What happened was a bit of a surprise to me. I was out in the wilds, hunting as I do from time to time. There is some good coin to be earned in pelts and meat, sure, but I work to provide the services the city needs. The crazed wolves, the city has had troubles with them, so I do my part. Anyways, I am out, and I see a bear. A bear is more trouble than it's worth, so I look not to startle it. Then a naked wild man came out of nowhere to attack the creature."

Another set of emotional responses were inspired through the story. Feelings of excitement, intrigue, anxiety all building as he spoke the empowered words. But as well another suggestion, "The story is true." Though just the most minor of spells would not be enough to ensure success, it would do for now. "It was at this time that I saw the bear shift. It was a Kelvic, and it screamed in terror. I had no choice but to lend my assistance."

The wizard now looked to finish his story and shift things a bit. He would shift things to inspire trust, then reveal his motives. Likely even reveal his money and offer. "I know it sounds incredulous, but Artur will tell you much the same. Some strange naked man of the wilderness was attacking him, so I lent my assistance. It all happened so quickly, but there was the now shifted Kelvic yelling for help, so I killed the would-be murderer. I decided to get him home as soon as possible."

It was almost time to progress things, but not quite. It would be best if things could be concluded after dinner. People were oft much more agreeable after a good meal anyways. For now he would be limited to easing in subtle hints and manipulations. "It is so dangerous for Kelvics in this city, Artur should not be out like that. Were I ill intentioned, I could have made a lot of money off of him. Were I not out hunting today, he would be dead. I would consider keeping a closer eye on him."

Miro grinned beneath his mask as he spoke. "There are plenty of shops to sell food and spice, enough to make your meals by. Artur is just so naive and gentle, he needs to be taught. In the time I spent with him around the city, I was able to show him a few things. It was nice. I had a great time in his company. He makes me laugh a lot." Though he trailed off at the last line to build up his Djed for another hypnotic manipulation. He would make this the final bout before dinner was served.

The Hypnotist's voice turned grim as he spoke his next lines, his voice heavy with Djed. "I am envious of you Gyatt. You have such a lovely home and all of these nice things. They are nice, sure, but I have a bit more simple of a taste. No, what really I envy is something else, that you have Artur. Were he my pet, I would see he had everything his little heart desired." Though the dark tone was quickly broken by apologetic laughter.

With luck the final spells would be enough to bring Gyatt around to seeing things Miro's way. He pushed emotional responses of empathy and pity, a suggestion, "Miro really cares for Artur," and a sudden thought as well. The man would begin to catch a glimpse of the undead's care for the Kelvic, then find himself thinking, "Miro would take good care of Artur." And with luck the thought would not seem out of place. Hopefully dinner would not take much longer to be ready.

oocOkay so this reply was long overdo, which is my bad on my part. >.> Nevertheless you asked for it when you chose for Artur to cook. :P

Gathering up the essentials Artur needed wasn't all that hard at all, in fact since he felt like he was starving again he knew right quick just what exactly he needed to set up to get this dinner moving along nicely. He needed a few pewter bowls set up on the counter with a cutting board, and of course prepped the oven Gyatt had for some fine heat when the frying pan would be ready. The bear took everything he had out and laid it on the counter, the fish on top of the cutting board, and then looked at the essentials he had gathered before him. Two cloves of garlic, three vials of ground herbs, two more vials which contained salt and pepper, then of course the jar of honey. Artur found his senses tickled with the scent of the vibrantly sweet gold that rested within, the intensely deep inhale of the aroma followed with a exuberant exhale as he sighed out vigorously.

Smell that delicious goodness. He mused to himself with a soft smile on his face, that is until he zoned completely into the task that was at hand. Cooking. He looked at the fish first and noticed they had to be cleaned off, meaning scales removed and guts taken out. Why couldn't they just sell it by the meat alone? He rolled his eyes then, and leaned down to pick up the bucket beside the end of the counter. When he propped that atop the counter next to him he reached over to his right and grasped a cutting knife, and examined the edge to see how its edge looked. Sharp for sure, he could quickly surmise that it was indeed a cutting knife for meat. Just what he needed. Artur took the knife and grasped the first fish, rested it at the edge of the bucket with the blunt end of the knife rested close to the back fin, and then from there started to rake off the scales as they would fall into the bucket. He continued this process with the other fish as well, before he would start with cutting out the insides that rested within the fish.

****

Gyatt found himself with a chuckle at Miro's words, it was easy to believe that one could easily find such care for a being such as Artur. It was true he had a gentle soul that rarely lost the innocence held with it's own naivety, something that this world would quickly consume when given the chance. At best when Miro told Gyatt just what exactly he said he looked a little troubled, puzzled even as though he had a sudden thought or impulse that he couldn't quite shake. There was a moment of consideration and when the story came next Gyatt found himself even more allured, his brow in a deep furrow as he tried to imagine just exactly how Artur was caught in a situation like that. Naked wild man. Sounded a little over the top if not farfetched, but at the same time there was just that idea, that one belief that the man couldn't quite shake off.

"If Artur were to say the story is the same then I would surely believe it then, but I trust your word well enough seeing as how you managed to bring him back home safe and sound." He finally broke the silence that he held in listening to Miro, the consideration he held for their guest still in questioning but nevertheless subtly set to mind. Gyatt looked over his shoulder once more when they could hear the sounds of something scraping, a gentle smile formulated on the man's face as he knew Artur already to be enjoying himself in the kitchen. At Miro's mentioning of keeping a close eye on Artur though Gyatt's smile quickly faded away, sharp eyes locked on the mask that the guest hid under as he took further thought in the progress. Its true Gyatt did put his Kelvic at risk, but that was only due to the fact Artur free to roam as he pleased. Even so perhaps the leash Gyatt gave him was a bit too long, far too long for the Kelvic's own good now that he thought about it.

Yet Artur hadn't had entirely bad experiences on his own, when he told Gyatt about the play he performed in with Amolina Moletta that gave Gyatt quite a laugh. Even so the risks were bound to only grow, as the Kelvic was quite prone to find trouble in the time he was too curious. Gyatt then raised an eyebrow of course, and then found himself unable to cast a smirk at Miro. "Yes, he is quite the companion to have. I myself find it hard for others to not enjoy Artur, for he is silly but gentle as you said." He shared with his hands rested together over his stomach, his brow in another furrow as he listened to their guest speak. Somehow the flattery of Miro's words hardly moved Gyatt until he mentioned Artur, a soft chuckle parted from his lips soon afterwards. "Believe me he deserves a lot after what he's been through."

He then proceeded to tap at the forearm of the chair, his thoughts loomed to several different things on his mind. Gyatt was indeed highly questionable with these impulses but there was just something more, something he wondered about that he thought best to mull over before sharing. He'd already shared quite a bit about his companion, but in turn he didn't seem to be the only one that cared for Artur. He felt Miro did too and that was certain in the expression he held. "Do you want to know what he had to go through before I purchased him?" He offered even though he already found himself comfortable enough to share. "Artur had to undergo one simple operation, and the doctor that did it ruined his chances of ever having future children. When that was done they were simply intent on throwing him away, as though he were mere garbage to them." He then rubbed the side of his temple as though he'd been stressing over this for a while. "The worst part is that he's already produced one child, due to the breeding program they set each Kelvic in. Now Artur spends his time trying to figure out how he'll rescue that child from KRF."

If anything Miro would see that this was something Gyatt had thought about more than on occasion, as it was something he'd been worried about far too often. "What would you do if you had the chance to help such an innocent like that? Would you turn away or would you see to it he received the help and care he needed?" Gyatt then questioned as though it were a test, though he merely Miro asked out of curiosity.

---

Scales were removed and of course the gutting process was halfway through. Artur had already spilled the guts of half the fish and in turn severed head and tails to be placed in the bucket. The tedious part was removing the bones of course seeing as how he didn't usually do that part often, but nevertheless when he'd picked out every trace of bone he could see he would then find that every fillet of fish he'd made was ready for marinating. Now... next was the combination of ingredients for the marination! First Artur took the lemon and line juice and dropped the contents in the bowl he had next to him, then dumped in a few pinches of sage, cumin, and a couple extra pinches more with the parsley. Salt and pepper came next as he sprinkled about a teaspoon's worth in the substance of the bowl, next was the onions which he had to cut up. He only needed two whole onions seeing as how that amount would serve for four, generally it served well to cook for one more person even when they weren't accounted for. Made for great leftovers if not seconds, and of course the Kelvic loved his seconds.

The bear took a couple of onions out of the cupboard they were stored in, and brought them over to the counter top with another knife grabbed in the process, this one purposed for the cutting of vegetables. After Artur peeled off the outer layers of both onions he started to cut away, first was the cutting into a half then the halves into more halves, as he literally flicked his wrist repeatedly and moved the chunks of onion around to slice them into bits. It wasn't until after about fifteen ticks worth Artur started to catch that 'aroma' onions have, and in turn he had to hold off the tears that were produced when he would continue his process of cutting the onions until they were ready. From there he used the side of the knife and scooped the bits onto it, and used both the knife and his hand to transport the onions from the side of the cutting board to the bowl. Next came the honey! This was the part Artur looked forward to of course, as he reached for the bottle and uncorked it to sniff a much more powerful aroma of the golden liquid. He then started to pour it down into the bowl until the bottle was halfway empty, as anymore honey would overpower the other flavors put into the bowl.

He ran a finger across the rim of the bottle and rolled his eyes to high heaven after he tasted the sweet flavor, and then put the cork back in to resume cooking. Now was the marination itself, which wouldn't be ready until Artur stirred the contents of the bowl some. After he grabbed a wooden spoon and stirred it for a time he finally set the bowl down and sampled the marination sauce, a couple moments spent in contemplative consideration to the flavors that rolled across his tongue. Rich with a salty spice but wonderfully balanced with a sweet mix, which left a slight short tangy aftertaste he couldn't help but favor. The mixture served it's purpose then, now was the successful application of sauce to the fish. Artur took each fillet he'd managed to make and placed them in the bowl, and in turn made a stack of six fillets, three on bottom three on top, while at same time spreading the sauce over to soak into the meat on top. Now he had to let the meat soak that for a bit... hrm. He had yet to start the oven, which it wouldn't take long to get that prepped while the fish marinated for a while.

The bear took a couple of the logs set as reserve for the oven and stuffed them inside, and took the flint and steel that rested in the nearby drawer of a counter. He would try and strike the two together, and try, and try, and try, and still try... yet only sparks. Stupid little petching rock! He would try harder now, make faster motions as he lost his patience with the damned thing, until at last some of the sparks that fell onto the wood started to smoke. Surely enough after about fifteen chimes of aggravated repeats and failed attempts, a fire managed to get started within the oven. Finally! He sighed as he placed the flint and steel back in the drawer, now all he had to do was prep the frying pan with some butter and then dinner was almost done!

Magic Man and Brown Bear Too

Postby Miro on June 17th, 2014, 9:03 pm

Gyatt seemed to be following right along with what Miro wanted. This man was exactly how one might predict, allowing Artur to do as he had. It was a mistake, and the Kelvic was a prize to be won. This was why it had seen so much excitement, and Gyatt was a fool. For this reason he would lose his servant, but instead find himself with a chunk of change. As if the money was truly equal in value.

Even the story pitched was well received, even as odd as it was, and would indeed be backed up by Artur. All was going well, and the Hypnotism played its part. Soon everything would come together, but not quite yet. The manipulations were not done yet, the Hypnotist worked his trickery still. As Gyatt spoke fondly of the Kelvic, manipulations were pressed further.

An emotional response of responsibility impressed into the man across the table by the intent focus given. Nods and stares to channel spells to work the man's mind. Suggestions that Artur's happiness was what was most important, that Miro could provide more, that the caring guest was most capable of taking care of Artur and keeping him safe. Gyatt continued to speak passionately.

It seemed that the Kelvic had been through a bit, the KRI with its operations and testing. All in the good name of science and advancement. Research that could benefit Rhysol and the city as a whole. This was spoken against, so a feigned agreement was posed. Even more interesting was the mention of a Kelvic child left behind. Perhaps a useful bit of information. It was something to use.

Then finally came the question that left Miro in the position he hoped to be in. It was as if the subconscious manifested the moral questions that the Hypnotism wished to pose perfectly. It was an opening to set everything up perfectly. The wizard knew just how to answer. But first he lowered his head and placed hand across his face. He simply remained silent for several ticks after hearing the question.

The Chained One filled the tense silent atmosphere with a feeling of grim sincerity. A sense that the undead was deep in thought, ripe with strong emotion. He lowered his hand and raised a sorrowful gaze to meet Gyatt's and spoke in a solemn voice. "If I had the chance to help an innocent like that?" His voice trailed off near the end and again he remained quiet. He frowned behind his mask, though none could see.

The answer was clear in mind, the tense moment ready to be broken by spoken word. Though the truth, as always, it would be distorted. "If I had the chance, I know I could not turn away. I would be completely helpless, unable to gather my will to do so. Almost like an undeniable craving, it is, this need." A spoken truth, but for reasons a mortal could not understand. "However now I am faced with a realization. I am able to help. I fear I must."

Immediately the wizard cleared his throat to break the tension. It was not time to dive into that yet, so it would be held onto for now. "I would like to discuss this further, but I fear any more of this talk will ruin our spirits for dinner. Such heavy conversation does not mix well with such a joyous occasion as to share a wonderful meal cooked by a friend. Let us continue after we have eaten. Finish things when we have a heavy stomach and a light heart." Hopefully dinner would be served soon.

The next thing that would follow is the sounds of popping and searing as the fish found itself moved from the bowl and placed in the buttered skillet that rested over the fire, with the aroma of food cooking soon to waft through the kitchen and then perpetually the hall and living area. The bear took extra time to diligently watch the meat as the fish cooked thoroughly, the speed at which the outside started to turn a golden brown something to consider considering the heat of the oven. He took a pair of calipers and gently grasped the fish with them, turning them over as he would then pour the left over contents of the sauce the meat soaked in inside the pan. That would add to the extra flavor for sure seeing as how it would cook into the meat during the heating process, but of course the Kelvic still had to keep an eye on the fish. Too much heat and the outside would be overdone too quickly, while the inside remained raw and unhealthy for humans to eat.

He continued to keep watch over the meat, and then in turn took a rag to grip the handle of the pan. He scooted it more closer to him so that the heat that vented wouldn't affect the food as much, hopeful that what little air that he could provide would help him as he continued to occasionally flip a fillet over. After about eight chimes had finally passed and the golden brown looked rather darker, signifying that the outside had been fully cooked, the bear decided that the insides had enough time to cook as well. Any longer and then he would likely burn the damned things. Still he had to be sure that he had done his job right, after he'd transferred the pan from the oven onto a prepared rag on the counter successfully, he then took out several plates and placed them on the counter in turn. A fork and knife was used to slice open only one of the fillets to see how they looked, and when he found that the inner meat had a white color with golden hue he smiled. The gilded juices that bled from the meat itself would serve as gloriously divine flavors from the Gods themselves! He had successfully cooked fish for his master and their guest! Now all he had to do was set up the dinner table and then everyone could eat.

----

Gyatt looked perplexed but in a rather curious way, the answer Miro provided respectful in turn as he would nod a time or two. Of course the man had much to consider with Miro and that in turn led the magician to believe he was on the right path, as his intentions were subtle but still quite known to the master of Artur. With the notion that they eat dinner before they continued the conversation Gyatt chuckled warmly, a hearty grin provided as he agreed with the idea that they wait for food beforehand. "Indeed. If we dwell on this further without a good meal we may spoil supper ourselves." The man took a moment to quietly smell the room, the aroma of the cooked meal definitely a noticeable scent by now. "By the smell of it our wonderful friend has managed to make a wonderful meal." He added as he looked around from his chair to the dining hall, after a few noises of activity had been made the Kelvic himself graced the two with his presence as he held his own bright and cheery smile.

"Gyatt, Master Miro, dinner is now ready for us to indulge!" He addressed the two of them eagerly, a short laugh followed from Gyatt as he rose to his feet.

"That's wonderful my friend, come let's all enjoy dinner so that we can continue to engage in conversation. I believe I've something we should all three discuss after all." If anything that was an indication for Miro, one he looked for when he considered his intentions. Things were definitely according to plan by the looks of it, the intentions of course eluded Artur as he was the first to guide them to the dinner table. Three plates with two fillets of fish for each, covered with the onions that cooked in the pan along with the fish. The smell of the food was mouth watering for the bear as his sense of smell indulged in the scent of fish and honey, the combination of the two likely to be a delicious surprise to the two men when they themselves would indulge in the wonderful meal presented before them.

oocSorry that this was late, feel free to move us a little forward so we can get to wrapping our thread up. :)

Magic Man and Brown Bear Too

Postby Miro on June 26th, 2014, 2:13 am

Ender was amazed by how smooth and professional his master could be. Not that he was unfamiliar with this side of the wizard, it had been shown many times. But more in how developed it had become, how refined his facade was. It was impressive to see it in action like this, the setting, the situation, the people manipulated. And all of it stemmed from a simple mistake. One warned of by the Irylid, he did note. That seeming infallibility was something to be envious of.

It did seem that things were going all too well. Even Miro was quite impressed with himself. It was quite fortunate that the circumstances unfolded as they had. There could have been so many issues to crop up, so much to complicate the situation. Fortunate as things were, it was no doubt Fate that had decided these things. It was simply meant to be. Everybody was put in such a pleasant mood, and indeed food was done.

Artur arrived to greet them, and admittedly the aroma was quite pleasant. Even more pleasant than that was to hear the Kelvic address him as "Master Miro". Yes, that was what he loved to be called, more than anything. Gyatt had some words for his servant as the group took their places at the dinner table. It seemed that after dinner they would likely discuss a change in the status of the Kelvic's ownership.

The meal looked quite delicious, though there was such little interest in eating. Though the deal was what mattered, and so the undead slowly dissected his fish into small parts. This was mostly a time consuming maneuver, as he did not want to finish before the others. He even managed to eat a few bits, admittedly the most delicious thing he had eaten in years apart from raw flesh.

Miro managed to eat half his plate in the time that everyone else had finished. This was planned, as he knew that the others would appreciate it more, being living and whatnot. He pushed his plate towards Artur with a kind look in his eyes. "Would you please finish this for me? It was very delicious, but I haven't much of an appetite. Truly though, I have not had such a treat in a long time. You are very talented."

Though it seemed that this was the appropriate time, all of them more or less finished eating by now. The Hypnotist would start the final act of his grand performance. His heavy bag sat at the foot of his chair, filled with bags of coin. He stood tall before the men at the table with a firm and imposing posture. His eyes still remained soft and kind however. The Djed in his body flared with hypnotic presence and expanded to envelope the others as he cleared his throat.

The wizard began to impress mindset upon his audience, filling their minds with subliminal thoughts and feelings before he spoke. He inspired feelings of trust, companionship, care and happiness. A feeling truly befitting those gathered around a table to eat as they were. As well subliminal propaganda, messages of admiration for the Chained One. That they trusted Miro, were blessed by his presence, wished to repay his kindness.

A feeling of nervousness rose in the undead, though he knew it could not have been from him. No, instead it was his partner, made uneasy for what he knew came next. Miro shrugged these feelings aside as he addressed the table in as confident a voice as he could manage. "Artur, I have heard from Gyatt what you have gone through, of your struggle. I know of your child, how you are separated right now."

Miro bent down and opened his bag and began to set one bag of gold after another on the table. He pushed a rather powerful emotional response into Gyatt, a feeling of being impressed, to add to the effect of the money. All ten bags of gold were presented on the table, and the speech was continued. "I had come prepared to make an offer to buy you, Artur. A thousand miza, that was what I was willing to part with."

But there was no way that he would pay all of that money to purchase the previously owned Kelvic when he could likely get a fresh pick from the KRI for less. Instead there was a plan to do else on his mind. "However I have a new proposal, for both of you, of course. I will pay seven-hundred to you Gyatt, and as well carry a promise. I will use the remaining funds, as well as whatever else it takes, and I will see Artur reunited with his child!"

With the charismatic declaration he impressed his final bout of Hypnotism, his mind and soul weary from the constant meddling. His temples were starting to pound, but he could not be bothered by it. Nor would he mind the trembling in his right arm. A brief yet powerful emotional surge was cast into Gyatt, a feeling of support. The powerful hypnotic push only lasted a couple ticks, but the drain was quite immense.

There was a powerful cloud of confusion that washed over the caster's mind as he finished his spell. Sweet Whispers nagged at him that his act was not done, that he was not successful, that he was to raise the stakes. And with the pounding headache that only intensified, it seemed more and more the voices were right. Yes, of course they were, he had to be certain. He could even get Artur for less coin, maybe even for free.

These wild desires built, consumed his mind. But the Familiar had been watching this decline, witnessed the signs early, but said nothing. But now, after such a powerful spell, the rise of emotions, the signs of overgiving intensified, it was too far. The wizard had to be stopped. The Irylid telepathically ordered his master, "Miro, that's enough, no more magic! Focus. You have done well, Artur is almost yours. Any more magic and you may ruin everything you have worked for."

The Chained One head his Familiar's voice very clearly through all of the dark suggestions in his mind. Ender, always so observant and logical, he had to be right. Miro clenched his fist, shut his eyes tight and heaved a heavy sigh. "I know this is sudden to spring on you. To spring on both of you. But I can not deny Lhex. It is fate that we met today, that I am the only one willing and capable of helping. Please, let me do this, let me buy Artur."
