An auction takes place to sell one very special ware.

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

1st of Summer, 514 AV

Shipments had arrived late for the very first auction of the Summer season, and thus, Marshal Sitai had seen it fit to cancel the event altogether. Or rather, he would have if he had not received a single, extremely valuable object to be sold. An Ethaefal did not commonly grace the shores of Kenash, their rarity only matched by the extreme nature of their beauty. And though Marshal Sitai saw her in Syna's light as a Symenestra, when Leth had turned, he noted the true value that she held and was by no means inclined to postpone.

He could, after all, make just as much of a profit selling this one ware as he could selling a small shipment of slaves. A wry smile graced his features as he counted the total number of auction participants. It was but two in total, the description and price Marshal had set as the starting bid floating over the head of the majority of Kenash, some were repelled by the idea of a Symenestra, even if it was an Ethaefal, others believed it simply more valuable to buy slightly less beautiful, entirely human and cheaper slaves.

Three participants, each prominent and obvious of their status sat far from one another in the hall. Amarantha Morealis, Atia Konrath, and Zorane Lorak were each in different rows, waiting for Marshal Sita's most prized of wares to appear. They had each been sent by their house to investigate the rumours of an extremely valuable, rare slave. It was time for those rumours to be filled. A single smirk lay disguised beneath Marshal Sitai's bent form as he bowed to the participants as they entered.

"Welcome, welcome, one and all! Our lovely new shipment will be up momentarily. Please, be seated!"

An attendant as kneeling in front of Eida, who was, at the moment, enchained to the floor by both of her ankles, her cell in the Auction Hall slightly larger and more spacious than the rest, but her chain was no longer. She had very little room to move about, but as the attendant dabbed dirt from her face, she would find that it wouldn't matter anyway.

"Marshal times your auction perfectly, little spider. Less than a chime into your auction, the sun will set and the bids will grow... A genius, he is. Anyway, is that really Leth's mark? Your God didn't save you from this fate, did he? How sad."

A momentary chuckle escaped the attendant's lips before she made her way to removing the binds around Eida's ankles,

"We're going upstairs now. Take your time, your legs probably hurt. We don't like to sell damaged goods."

The attendant nudged Eida forward, her hands moving to the Ethaefal's waist, straightening and arranging her clothes so that she looked slightly more proper. Her shirt, a white, cotton creation, was tucked into her pants, held up by a very thin rope belt. She was not given shoes.

"There. You'll go to a nice family, I'm sure, 11. Maybe they'll even let you keep your name."

A chime later, Eida would be presented to the trio of buyers, three sets of eyes widening at the visage of a Symenestra,

"She's very pretty."

"Not bad for a spider."

"Hmmm."

Each of the buyers vocalized their thoughts, and Marshal grinned again before he said,

"Let's start the bidding at 1500 gold mizas."

"Aye."

"1600!"

"1650!"

Marshal Sitai was pleased.

It felt like days since it happened. Long days, she was far away from Riverfall, her dear Riverfall. She wished she could have undone what she has done and be back there. But she made mistakes, and she was thinking them all through. Maybe she did deserve this. The terrible fate of slavery, not being free. Something she thought she would never have to experience. It was just a thought she had to get used to.

She was chained and was sleeping in a small uncomfortable room. She was lying there and was waiting. What else could she do? She was thinking, what would it be like? Her thoughts were messy in her earthbound form, but she still tried to focus on Leth's mark. Reflection, change, thoughts. It was really hard but she was alone, with her thoughts, that keep her sane.

Reflection... she was imperfect, her Father told her that even he was imperfect. Thoughts... she had to somehow get used to this situation. She was a slave, someone would buy her, someone would use her like a possession. She would be owned. But one thing would never change. Her true master and god would be always Leth. Change... something she shouldn't be afraid of. She would have to change. Maybe it was not going to be as bad as she thought. She had to behave well. Do as they say, maybe she could learn from that.

She kept thinking about this when the attendant came. She looked up, it was time. She cleaned her face and freed her from her chains. She sat up and massaged them a bit. She also just smiled at her comment. "It is his mark. And he knows he doesn't have to save me. I'm not in trouble." Her smile however vanished. It wasn't that fun.

She felt after her time in that small room that being in one of the planation would be better. She would just go crazy in this place. But would she get a nice master and mistress? It just scared her and made her feel uneasy. Although she kept remind herself that she had to embrace the situation. She was standing up, her legs were trembling, she felt weak but she had to gather her strength. It was time.

She got her clothes pretty and ready. 11. Not even a name. She didn't mind. Eida was just a name she chose herself for the mortal realm. She had a different name, but she couldn't simply say it. She didn't mind. She also didn't mind a new name if she would get one. She was going, where she saw showed three people.

She was wondering... Riverfall didn't like her symenestra appearance. They were all suspicious. Would they really buy her? She was shocked however. Pretty, not bad for a spider. Something which made her feel better. She straightened up a bit. What suprised even more the money. That much just to buy her? Would they throw that much for her, because she was one of Leth's fallen. She had a lot to learn about Kenash.

Bids continued to fly as Marshall Sitai repeated them, purposely and easily goading his beloved guests to free more and more of their mizas from their pockets. It was only when the rate reached an apex that it slowed,

"2000!"

Wide gazes marked the remaining two bidders, even Marshall Sitai was rather astonished, but he kept on, his features hardly able to conceal their smirk as he goaded them further,

"Just 2000, my friends? After all..."

The sun had set, and Eida would begin to experience the transformation of the Ethaefal. The fangs would replace with horns upon her now fair-skinned head, and each of the three bidders would find their eyes widening with the almost surreal quality of the slave's beauty.

It was then that Atia Konrath decided to be preemptive and simply end the auction here,

"2520!"

No one bid against the Konti, the other two casting sidelong glances at one another. Was it worth it to engulf in another bidding war? Or should they save their mizas for another battle?

They chose the latter.

"She is all yours, my dear lady."

Marshall smiled, then escorted the Konrath to the back room of the Auction Hall. Several scratches would be heard as a quill pressed to paper, ink blotting upon the surface of the papyrus surface as signatures were cast. Hands shook and then Marshall uttered,

"Enjoy, miss. And please, come again. The Sitai family is most appreciative of your patronage. I will send someone for the payment later today."

"Of course."

And it was done. The Freeborn attendant undid the shackles that held Eida in place just as the Konti called out to her house's newest slave.

"Come with me, we are going to Boldvine."

They were throwing offers like it was nothing. The amounts were incredibly and unbelievable for Eida. She was just a Symenestra, Ethaefal, appearently her look was more appealing in here than anywhere else. She liked that. She didn't know how she could be still amazed as a slave, she still found it the most horrible thing in the world. But.. she was still embracing the change, even though she wasn't happy about it. Was she going insane? Probably not, or she wouldn't have Leth's mark anymore.

And speaking of that Leth was close... through her mark she felt that the Moon was nearly up. And it seemed the last bid was set. 2000 GM, nobody said anything. Who would, it was still hilarious. But Marshall thought otherwise. She looked at him as he mentioned "after all". That moment Eida realized why. Her Divine Father ruled the sky and her appearance changed. She wasn't the pale symenestra but an ethaefal. She tried to hide her half smile. That genius bastard knew how to make a deal.

At that very moment Eida's attention went to the Konti who offered 2520 GM. Her eyes widened. This was the end of the bidding. The other Dynasty members didn't throw more money anyway. Eida found it still foolish, 2520 GM... Smart man. Marshall just knew when to bring her out for the Auction. She was owned, owned by the lady.

She was waiting while the Marshall and Atia was taking care of some papers. This was it.. she had a mistress, somebody she had to serve. An odd feeling and a stranger thought. She tried to accept that change, but she needed time. She was afraid, she was sad... But she tried to fight against that.

The Attendant unbid her from her chains. Physical freedom if nothing else. She was called to go.. to the Boldvine. Her new home. "Yes...I'm coming. Mistress!" She had to get used to it. Mistress. She was following the Konti close behind her, unless Atia wanted to, Eida didn't dare to walk next to her.

The Konrath allowed a laugh to spill from her lips when she was addressed as Mistress. It was true, in a way, but the slave must be put to understand that she was by no means the only one. She turned around, intent on having the slave stop in front of her. Should Eida do so, Atia would press her hand to Eida's chest, a smile gracing her lips,

"Dear slave, you may call me your Mistress, but you are not my slave. Your loyalty will belong to the house of Konrath, of which I am a part of. Lorenzo Konrath, my father, is your benefactor. You will serve the caretaker and do as she commands. Unfortunately, she has taken a brief vacation to the city of Riverfall, so for the moment, I have taken her responsibilities. Now, come with me, stand with me, slave. I don't even know your name. If I like your name, you might even get to keep it."

The woman flashed Eida a smile before pointing towards the carriage, "You will sit on the other side from me, but we will share a car. I enjoy getting to know our slaves, since you are all resources of great value. Will you tell me a little bit about yourself, Eida?"

The carriage would roll on, and Eida and Atia would have much time to converse as it made its way to Boldvine household.
