Kechaiya looked up at Amon with pure venom in her gaze. Yet again he had petched up what he was supposed to do. Could this fool be relied upon for anything? But the questions he asked were good ones. Her gaze was cast back downward. "Who you?"

"My name is Benni."

"You help kidnap children?"

He closed his eyes slowly, nodding his head. Kech smacked the flat of the blade against his already shattered nose, causing him to howl in pain.

"Why?"

"My family was starving, I needed money, they said if I helped them, I'd be paid. Please, I have a son."

Kech whacked him on the nose again, a bit harder this time, "How become like this?"

"I got cold feet, didn't want to help them anymore. They beat me and turned on me, left me behind. Please don't hit me again, I'm begging you."

Kechaiya considered it. The sorry state that he was in seemed to support his story. "If let live, what you do?"

"What?"

She whacked him again. Crying, "Go home to my boy!"

"You know who take children?"

He shook his head, "They were just guys, like any other. Never said names, never mentioned a gang. Nothing. Like ghosts."

She looked up at Amon, "Move beds off legs."

"How you contact them for job?"

"I didn't. They found me at the Pig's Foot. But I'd never seen them before, they weren't regulars."

"I believe you. So here what happen. We carry you out, dump you in alley. Wish you best of luck. Like you did to orphans. If you live, you need leave town with family, never come back."

The man crying nodded, "Thank you, thank you. I'm sorry, they were just so hungry."

Kechaiya nodded, standing up. She wiped her bloodied blade on his shirt, glaring daggers at him. It was his fault this happened, but not completely. Starvation was a powerful motivator. But other people had managed to find food without resorting to this. For a brief moment she considered going back on her word and slitting his throat. But she resisted the urge. Back to Amon, "Help get him up, get him outside. I need check children, take to main Orphanage, to Jillene. You take care of him." With that, she abruptly turned and left the herbalist with the wounded man. The children were the most important thing right now.

Making her way out the door, she saw no one. She called out, "Kids?" After several agonizing two popped out of alleys and approached her. "Where the others?"

"The woman that came out scared a bunch of them off, they ran to Jillene's. We tried to follow her, but she disappeared."

Kech masked her disappointment with a smile, "Is okay. You safe, all matters. We go Jillene's now." She took one hand from each of them, and they began the short journey to Jillene's, Kech trying to leave her anger and disappointment behind. But someone would have to pay for this. And she knew Noven would not stand idly by.

Fire! (Amon Torque)

He positioned his arms under the beds side, giving a grunt as he lifted it off of the man's crushed legs, eyeing the dark blue bruise it left behind. His muscles tensed as he pushed it farther up, returning it to its upright position. Amon was becoming used to following the woman's straightforward instructions, and becoming better at following them with precise movements.

His back straightened, stretching slightly after lifting the heavy wood bed from the ground to its standing position. He barely noticed the conversation next to him, instead finding more interest in the mans severed ear, which he proceeded to stare at and only take in glimpses of the interrogation at a time. Only picking up select things like 'hungry, Pig's Foot, and leave towpwn' made the situation seem much brighter, for everything he heard applied to him. The black eyes of Kechaiya turned toward him, the flicker of light from the candle showing just how dark her eyes were, black. Her expression read angry, but her words didn't seem any angrier than her normal demeanor.

She told him to help to help the man out and take care of him, two tasks that wouldn't prove too difficult if the situation went as he thought it might. "Alright, I will take care if him," he told her as she walked out the door, leaving him with only a candle, his pack, his kukri, amd a wounded man.

He watched her leave the room and turned to the man, eyeing him disappointedly. The fact that Kechaiya gave him a bit of confidence in the man, he must not be that bad if she spared his life. Reaching out a hand, he allowed the man to grip it and gave him a gentle pull, taking note that the man simply fell to his knees and was unable to stand correctly. "Alright, can you limp using me as a support?" Amon asked, wondering what was the best way to get him out. He kneeled down, putting his arm around the man and helping him stand with Amon as the support. The man yelped with every step, but it was the only working strategy to get him out the door of the room.

It was when the pair reached the stairs that it became a serious problem, for the man was unable to hobble down side by side due to the narrow staircase. "Crawl down," Amon instructed, not noting how cold it must have sounded to the injured man. Amon navigated down with relative ease, sitting at the bottom while he waited for the man to negotiate a strategy down the stairs. He began with a crawl, making it halfway down the staircase before his hand slipped and he bounced down on his back, crying out in pain.

Amon shrugged, not knowing what to do to help him, and simply strung his arm under the man's and escorted him out the doorway, ignoring his moans of agony as he leaned him against the wall and turned. Amon began to jog, running through the dark violet skies towards his home, knowing he would return to the orphanage tomorrow to see if he could find Kechaiya again.
