10 of Autumn, 514
The Rush twin was quite unwilling to leave his room, his body suffering from sleep deprivation at the hands of the nightmares that he had suffered since his encounter with the Kelvic slave. He had never learned her name, but he knew her aura. So filled with hate for him, so filled with terror yet staunchly affixed upon its independence and defiance towards a power greater than her own. While Venser did not regret the incident in the slightest, the consequences of it were quite dire. Two nights with less than four hours of sleep taxed his body. The nightmares plagued what sleep he did get so that his body was unable to rest. While he felt fine physically, having sought treatment for his pulled muscle, there were other problems at work.
The familiar had left rather suddenly, leaving Venser behind to find the Kelvic for reasons unknown to the Rush twin. In his absence, the blonde felt a rather inexplicable melancholy, perhaps owed to the sleepless night that he had suffered, but he ignored it. There was no need to feel such emotion, for Venser Rush had other matters to attend to. The Kelvic's eye was stowed in the drawer, and Venser would seek it out. He did so slowly, careful to pull the drawer back carefully before shuffling forward to retrieve the backpack that contained the toolkit he commonly used for Malediction, which had become much, much more useful ever since his semester at the Institution for Higher Learning had expired. Almost ideal save for lacking a table or a means of storing his Legacies. Up until this day, the latter was rather unnecessary.
Bones did not rot so quickly as to need preservation from the elements in the immediate future. However, an eye was a different matter entirely. While not quite as fragile as one would assume, the eye was prone to much quicker rot and decay. Fortunately, however, Venser was prepared. A vial of embalming fluid and an engraver's pick were pulled from within the backpack, Venser thereafter placing it aside before he turned on his broken bed to sit on the floor. He followed the movement by dragging one of the broken fragments of his desk towards him. It was smooth at the center, though heavily splintered on each end, a piece about two feet in length and one in width. Setting it upon his lap. It was then that he set the eye on the makeshift table. He held the pick in his left hand, careful not to press too tightly and stress his forearm more than it already was. Hunching forward, Venser Rush pressed the tip of the pick to the eyeball, prodding it gently to get a feel for the sturdiness of the object. It was sufficiently so. Engraving upon it would be possible.
Alright, then. Step two, commence. While I know the story of how this eye was ripped out, there is perhaps a better use of its quality as an eye. I need to determine the direction I wish for this Legacy to go, and then commence from there.
How exactly does an eye work? Obviously, the side with the pupil is the side that sees, so the engraving will not be there. The eye receives light and reflects it, sending signals to the brain in order to perceive images, correct? Then I can perhaps utilize that as part of the process of making the Legacy.
I should utilize Auristics.
The Rush twin was rather cautious about using the again. Though his djed had recovered, his mind had been shaken from the sight of Redd's agitated aura. However, there was no progress without risk. There was no regret in the usage of magic, for Venser needed to move forward to ascend his limitations. And thus, Venser pulled upon the weave of his djed, a deep breath taken as he mustered his djed within his eyes. His eyes opened wide, the Rush twin closing his thoughts off to the world as he mustered the amalgamation of his consciousness and set about synchronizing his aura with the removed eye. Several ticks later, he was connected to the eye, though it would take chimes of observation of the aura to perceive much, much more. The aura was calm now, rather frizzled at the edges of it, crimson in colour. The colour starkly contrasted the rather remarkable hazel hue of the slave's eye, but Venser paid little attention to the colour after making note of it. He needed to push deeper.
