Training. Yes, that seemed to explain it. Sayana gave a brief nod at Asen’s explanation. Squires were always training. Training, training, patrolling, training. Sayana was not in much condition to pry further. After the half-dhani climbed up onto the pier, Sayana placed her two mid hands on the edge to pull herself up and at the same time grasped Asen’s offered hand with one of her highs. Once she had clambered up and stood before the woman, she gave a long soft sigh. It was done. She could look for peace, if she could find it. She gave a quick glance at the part of the dock where the baby had been buried beneath.
Then it was time for Asen to go. “Just one more thing,” the Eypharian spoke quickly. She stepped forwards to give the squire one more embrace. She might have even held it for a whole chime and after she broke it she said, “Thank you Asen. For everything. I… I am glad I didn’t have to do it alone. And I’ll come and find you if I need any more help. Or just someone to talk to. You’re at the squire dormitories, yes? I can barge in there shouting your name?” She smiled slightly at the bit of humor in her last sentence.
“You’re a good friend Asen. Maybe I’ll have you over at my place sometime.” Despite the way her heart still ached for the loss of her son, it helped to focus on the people who were still part of her life. It seemed that she might have a brief lapse in her sorrows, where things felt just a little more okay. It was dark though, and it was really time for them both to go home. “Bye Asen. I’ll see you again.” Sayana said with a wave of a high hand. With that she began heading in the direction of her home.
OOCIt was a little short, but it felt like the thread was finishing up.
