Continued from this thread.
The chase with Shahar was fast paced, Shahar throwing himself onto the doe that his wolf-dog held down. The creature was killed moments later and finally the hunter rose, looking for Merevaika. She waved for his attention, before turning to the buck, sliding off her horse. It thrashed slightly on the ground, kicking her as she approached. Thankfully, Denviel took that moment when the deer was distracted with the woman to pounce, snatching its neck in his jaws.
She took her dagger, moving it to where the arrow in its ribs was. With a sharp movement, she buried it in, watching as the buck stopped moving. Dead. Blood pooled over its chest, a smell rising in the wind. It would bring predators that wanted a meal ready dead. They had to leave, return to the safety of Endrykas.
Merevaika heaved the deer up, shifting its weight across her back as she moved it. It was heavy, almost too heavy, but Eryunt was a step away, close enough to heave the buck over before she collapsed under it. With the horse loaded, she started towards Shahar briskly, dog at her heel.
She signed to him, speech too dangerous if there was already blood in the air. Drawing in even more attention was risky. To Endrykas? Hurry, good hunt. With that, she mounted Eryunt, hoping the combined weight wouldn't be too much. He didn't show much discomfort, so she urged him forward, adjusting the deer to rest in front of her.
They moved quickly, hopefully in the right direction. Hopefully with Shahar behind them.
