I've been needing a new computer for ages. The one I currently use is over 8 years old, and it's just a little Dell laptop. It's been good to me, but it's just too outdated nowadays to run anything intensive. So, today I went pricing desktops...and came home ready to build my own; PC's are expensive as hell.
I don't know how many computer nerds we have out there, but I hoard electronics. Broken phones, cameras, laptops, desktops- you name it. So, since I already have a keyboard, monitor, mouse, and tower, I figured I could just slap a new motherboard, graphics card, and processor in the old tower, patch up a few loose wires, and call it good.
Turns out, there are way too many options for my poor, indecisive brain.
I want to be able to run graphics intensive games (think Payday 2, Fallout 4, Sims 4, etc.), so I thought I'd spring for an i7 quad core. Now I'm doubting myself. I've never liked AMD's, but they seem to get better reviews. Are people just stupid, or are AMD's really better? Besides that, I think I'd like a GTX 960 graphics card, but then how much RAM am I going to need? I'd like to be within an 800 dollar budget, if at all possible.
Maybe I'm just rambling to myself, but if anyone happens to know anything about any of those products or has any preferences, let me know. I really don't want to make a 400 dollar mistake.
