Garland just laughed and held out his arm for Zifor to grab on to. "You are definitely handsome, ladies would just love you, wouldn't they?"
"The reason I'm staying here? For one thing, I don't have much money to travel around, but that's not really a reason, I have a family here. The squires in the knighthood don't get paid except for free housing and food, but if there are no other breadwinners in your family, they take care of the family for free, though I think they push you harder for the extra expenses."
"Zi, I would love to have a drink with you, but when they see someone that's not a squire or knight drinking, they'll start asking questions, especially since you'll be drinking with a squire that's suppose to be patrolling right now." Garland said, somewhat disappointed because of the curfew.
You don't really know a man until you know how they act like when they're drunk or dying.
"I'll walk you in, Zi. Let's have a drink tomorrow or maybe some other time. I doubt I can idle around this season, with the blasted fog and monsters attacking everywhere."
Garland honestly felt like he wanted to drink but all the taverns were empty, or filled with so much despair and boredom he might as well be drinking at a funeral. "I doubt you have any alcohol in your home since you say you don't drink. All the bars and taverns are just empty or filled with depressed sods."
Garland walked to Zifor's home, it looked very much like the rest of the homes in Traveler's Row, and he wasn't surprised, no one ever thought about living in the Row, full time, it was nice enough, but there were nicer places deeper into the city, these were just places for the merchants to rest or for hunters and woodsmen live, so they were close to the gates to head into the woods.
"It was nice meeting you Zi." Garland said and started walking away, back to his patrol route, his incredibly boring, and misty patrol route.
