Treasure Isn't Always Golden (Quelen Dran'Sora)

"Well," began the little charoda, "a home for anything should look like a home, or it couldn't ever be called a home." She then raised her hands and used them to outline a small house-like area on the top of her table. "Either way, after we finish this up, we should get some sleep," said Tayl as she placed her hands back on the table.

Watching Tayl's hands Quelen gave a little nod of understanding, and then closed her eyes as she focused on the coral. Envisioning a small house like structure in her mind she encourage the coral to grow and shape itself to match what was in her mind.

As she worked she started to sing softly, as she always did while coral shaping. It was a soft, simple song without words, just a calming progression from note to note.

Tayl heard the humming from Quelen and decided to join in, matching her tones note for note. She too continued working on the coral along side with Quelen until it was finished, luckily it didn't take all night, but it did take several hours to complete. 'If Quelen weren't here' Tayl thought to herself, 'this probably would have taken all night to finish.' Tayl looked up at Quelen and bowed her head while saying "Thank you, couldn't have done it without you."

Quelen smiled as Tayl joined her in the simple singing. A part of her wanted to pick up the song, add more complexities and make it dance through the water with Tayl, but she resisted the urge. That would take from the concentration needed to make the coral move and shape.

Eventually they were finished, and as the last notes echoed in the home Quelen opened her eyes and looked over their work. It certainly wasn't a work of art, but it was serviceable. To her eyes, it looked like her side was a little rougher than Tayl's, but she didn't say anything. Instead she smiled at Tayl's word's and replied, "Well, neither could I have done it without you."

Giving a little stretch of her arms she gave a content sigh as she swam up and twirled a bit, loosening up her body after focusing for so long. She then settled down upon the floor, sliding down to sit and said, "Should we go to sleep then? It is getting quite late."

Tayl smiled at Quelen's offer, she quickly swam to her side and and began to fall alseep next to her. Tayl's mind slowed to a relaxing melody that she was singing with Quelen. The little charoda quickly fell asleep and she grabbed hold of Quelen, not allowing herself to let go.

Quelen gave a soft giggle as Tayl swam over and snuggled up to her to fall asleep. The little Charoda reminded her of some of her younger siblings, back when she had still lived with her family. Lightly stroking her friend's head for a moment she hummed a few soft bars of a lullaby before sliding down to lay next to Tayl. Listening to the song play in her mind, she drifted off to the darkness of sleep.
