The Obelisks
When Ivak was released from his mountainous prison, and the divine storm raced across Mizahar, a strange phenomenon occurred in Mathew's Bay. Two obelisks, around three hundred feet apart, rose up from the water. One black, one white. They stand aligned so that they are squarely against the city, although about a mile into the Bay. The sudden displacement of water caused tidal waves to barrage the coastline, but when the storm subsided, the obelisks did not fall back into the water.
Only the black obelisk was known before, a fragment of its cool stone had been secreted in the University Archives, but dark events at the end of Winter of 511 AV, led to the fragment being stolen and a professor murdered. By Winter of 512AV that same fragment had been returned.
It is believed that the obelisks are artefacts of Laviku, and those that have swam or guided their ships near them can hear the low thrumming of static, and mages can sense a deep seated swirling of djed, locked inside the stone. Still, traffic within the Bay had since adjusted to avoid the Obelisks all together, and as the mystery of the sudden appearance becomes more mundane, Zeltiva has grown comfortable with its ominous Sentinels perched on their horizon, always watching.
