The Shuval Apartments are some of the most popular options for residents and frequent visitors of The Outpost. These apartments are well-appointed, upscale, and provide a safe secure spot for people to store their gear and set up a home away from home if necessary.
Opening off a large interior courtyard, The T&T Apartment is owned jointly by Alric Lysane and Tazrae Ardera. The pair were lucky enough to acquire a small thousand square foot apartment on the wall side of the courtyard tucked beneath far larger apartments that span two or more stories above them. All on one floor, The T&T Apartment is named for its terracotta and teal interior.
With a small kitchen area, the apartment opens up into an expansive open floor plan living room with a fireplace. The layout is conducive for sparring and a bit of magical practice. There is a large master bedroom off to the east of the living room which supports a large wardrobe. There is a bathing chamber that is plumed from roof cisterns that provide hot water year-round. A small privy opens separately to the bathing chamber.
A second bedroom has some time in the past been converted to a philtering lab. Old glassware, workbenches, and cupboards line its walls. The current occupants haven't gotten around to renovating or upgrading the facility nor fully stocking the lab at this time.
There is plenty of room in the apartment for guests and Tazrae's mount, Bree, is often seen in residence actually inside the apartment. Furniture has been spaced accordingly.
The kitchen has a large wood-fired stove with a hood that vents into the chimney and out onto the roof. A small stair leads up to a terrace garden that is halfway up the building. Qualifying as a roof garden, this area provides a small patio for the denizens of the apartment to enjoy or grow specialty items in pots.
There are small touches throughout the apartment that indicate someone like plants, especially flowers. Cut flowers of a more tropical nature and exotic broad-leaf foliage often decorate the tables and mantel in ornate or unusual vessels of glass, wood, and even bamboo. There is a collection of unusual seashells and smooth sea glass scattered here and there.
Most of the floor - which is tiled - has padded rugs spread across it which help keep the place warm and insulate the people from falls and slips as they maneuver through the apartment.
An earth-tone colors pallet dominates the apartment which is painted in warm washed tones of brown that hovers near a red but can easily wash out to a pinkish beige. Pops of bright blue and teal are everywhere, reminiscent of the turquoise waters of Syka.
Two comfortable wing-backed armchairs flank a small bookcase that acts as the pair's growing library. The library currently contains books on yoga, sailors' knotwork, maps of the world, and philosophy or religion. The collection is small but growing. On top of the little library, the bookcase is a large letterbox that is locked. Alric and Tazrae each have a key. The top shelf of the bookcase has a bunch of writing supplies. A desk has been moved out of the master bedroom (to make room for the wardrobe storage) and placed in the philtering lab along with the other furniture there where someone can sit down and write if they like.
Visitors are allowed at all hours. Security is provided by The Keiss when there are problems. Otherwise, the apartments are normally fairly quiet and pleasant places to live.
