History
The path:
Zeltiva (10 years)
Fornax fell when the sky cracked, some 70 years ago, and landed into the cold waters of Mathews Bay. The Goddess did not let him drown after he had failed at trying to reach land. Instead she gave him just enough of a pull to survive drowning. But the shore had still been far from his grasp and it was the harsh hands of local fishers that dragged his heavy body out of the ocean and into a boat.
It took the Ethaefal long to recover. What had kept him from going completely insane was that one touch that held him above water and the mark that stayed behind. Instead of using the human name he still remembered, he tailored himself a new one. Fornax, a name of stars he found to best suit his already present body of the sky. First moons were the hardest and they remained in ill memory, to both him and those around him. Once madness and nostalgia had past their prime, he found the unquenchable thirst for knowledge that gave him purpose and drove him onward from that point on.
After giving up on the idea of a fabled way back into Ukalas, this son of Syna turned to logic, manipulation and magic. Slowly he found his place among the walls of Zeltiva University and there he apprenticed below many knowledgeable masters. As not anyone would accept him as an apprentice right off the bat, Fornax learned how to work people in his favor. Lies, deception, the thrill of constant danger and knowledge….oh so much knowledge, they kept him inside the city limits for almost 10 years. However, once his lies had started catching up on him, he left the glorious city behind never to return.
Syliras (4 years and 3 seasons)
After Zeltiva had failed him, Fornax thought about going to Sunberth for a while. But it did not take him long to decide anarchy was not really his thing. While he had cultivated a complete disregard for rules by this point, there was still order to his rebellion. It was indeed much better thought out than it initially seemed. Arrival to the big city was met with harsh realization that much has changed. Knights were in control of everything, and it did not take long for Fornax to realize just how little could be done in such a place.
Life was relatively calm here and the Ethaefal spent most of it in books and under the sheets. With lifestyle that dictated often visits to all local taverns it was only a matter of time before something went wrong. Expectations were met when one of the knights got wounded by in an accident for which Fornax believed he would get accused for. He never stuck around long enough check this.
Nyka (2 years)
Priests were a problem. No anarchy was graceful, and less order than Syliras contributed to the pleasant atmosphere, but what drove the Ethaefal away were the brutalities of priests and midnight marches of strange creatures. Not much was obtained here, perhaps some pointers on why should people avoid the city, but other than that he considered his time here to be wasted.
Mura (6 years)
The island brought some peace to the Ethaefal’s soul, but it was the Konti sorcery that brought the thirst back into his veins. Reimancy and Projection, Voiding and Summoning, Magecrafting and Alchemy – they were all so hypnotizing.
Even the greatest of experiences had their off sides, and Mura was abundant with those. The ambient was pale, colorless and lifeless almost as much as its inhabitants. And boredom – it was epidemic. If anything was worse than complete anarchy it was stern order, but even such order was outmatched by boredom.
He left in a hurry to escape prosecution for crimes he had indeed committed.
Ravok (3 seasons)
Never had his visit to a city been cut short like here. Rhysol was a shady fellow, but even he built some order to the then rebellious Ethaefal. After a couple of brushes with the Ebonstryfe and The Black Sun, he had no choice but to choose: fight or flight.
It was not a hard choice.
Spires (9 years)
Borderline demented, Fornax came here more to find a healer than to learn. Nevertheless, he stayed for a long time. The Jamoura were old and wise, so he enjoyed their company. What he could not comprehend however was their deep connection to nature and all things living. After he was healed, the Ethaefal learned from the giant apes.
While their peace and tranquility sickened him, their knowledge was vast and somehow that compromise seemed to even out most conflicts. After deciding not much more could be learned from the tree huggers, he contemplated going to Avanthal for a while. It was soon that he realized that the two things Vantha were famous for meant little to him. Hunting he considered a waste of time in most environments and art, well art was just short for useless.
The Suvan Sea (3 seasons)
He spent a bit time with the Svefra. Trading, travelling and resting – not much to it really.
Alvadas (6 years)
Ah, Alvadas! The place he longed for so long. It had been his home in a matter of speaking, but all that knew him were long gone now or he at least he considered them gone. His human life had both started and ended in Alvadas, in the service of Ionu. For some reason city seemed to had lost the affection it held for him since their last meeting, but he was still able to uncover a couple of things about his former identity.
First, he was a silencer, one of the feared zealots of Ionu and a keeper of peace. However all was not so black and white and based on what information he could gather, he was indeed killed while on a mission of some sort. The importance of this mission or how he died remained a blur to him, but he did remember the face of the one who ended him. A Nuit, crazy being which appearance was undoubtedly changed by the time of his entrance into the city. Something however kept nagging at him that the old corpse borrower was still close.
Whatever it was, it did not fool him. Instead it drove him until he found the man and they had a little talk.
He left in a hurry. On a ship that was headed to Lhavit.
Lhavit (29 years and 1 season)
Confident he has learned all there was to this rerun life, Fornax decided to settle down. Once again, he got a job, a house, and even a family this time. He did not love them particularly, nor did he feel displeased when they were around. Things were – normal. Yes, normal was the perfect word for it.
Years passed by and they aged. Fornax did not. Whether it was irony or tragedy that struck at this idyllic union, it tore the family apart. All the time since his fall the Ethaefal had been running towards something, or away from something – but he was constantly on the move. With the new anchor he started to feel stress of everyday living. His kids were noisy and then they left home. His wife was pretty and then she got old and wrinkled. And then she died just when Fornax had started contemplating leaving her. In a way she had done him a favor. Then why did it not feel like one?
With the first boat that traveled anywhere and what little money he had, Fornax left Lhavit. Both of the children he fathered came to Lhavit about the same time he landed in Denval and started looking for him fanatically. (He is not aware of this.)

Mental image
- Likes – intelligence, humor, wit, knowledge and women.
- Dislikes – Brute force, waiting, errors, boredom and nostalgia.
- Flaws – Impatient, arrogant, vain, forgetful, unreliable and without significant emotion.
- Virtues – Intelligent, witty, charming, resourceful, logical and a good liar.
- Ethics – He knows what his resources are and how to use them even when he does not know to what end they are being spent.
- Religion – He lives on neutral terms with most of the gods and likes it that way. It was long ago that he accepted mortals were simple pawns of divine intervention, but he considers himself better than most, a bishop or a well played knight even, still the only royalty remains sitting atop the heavens in Ukalas. If the rewards fancy him, he would serve any of the gods really, and he would likely just as easily betray them for yet greater treasures. Fornax never forgets to give his praise to Syna for saving his life after he fell through the rift of her sanctuary. Laviku who almost took him, he holds in reverence too. However his personal favorites remain Akajia, Eyris, Gnora, Ionu, Nysel, Qalaya and Sagallius.
What little loyalty he can hold, he holds for The Sun Goddess. That is also probably the only one of his deities he would serve without asking questions or rewards.
