Sunberth Fall Calender

NoteThis is a list of eventful days. Please make sure your threads dated on these days don't conflict with the occurrences.

Baroque Bay and the Fall is going to be insatiably prone to changing winds. Floaters may wash up upon the beaches during a squall. Various Faction groups will begin to expand their territory. Farmers and Merchants are notably aggressive and desperate.

  • 1st = Fall Begins with a two-day heavy rainfall.
  • 2nd = Streets flooded with rats and garbage
  • 3rd = Rainfall ceases, flooding fades
  • 20th = An Unnatural thick fogs rolls in, making it impossible for ships to approach land or leave the docks. It is next to impossible to see at night in the city. Some say it's a curse from the gods. To the west, Haunted Falls freezes over, effectively blocking the waters that feed Sunberth's population. The falls condition remains undiscovered for several days.
  • 24th = Drought Begins.
  • 25th = Fog lifts after a five day stretch. Many people have gone missing.
  • 34th = A small Svefra crew make port in Sunberth.

Urgent farmers pay for carriages to speed those who wish to help westwards for an attempt to bring them back to life. Those who make the attempt are returned on the morning of the 47th.
  • 47th = A large brawl erupts in the Docks, Shipping is closed for three days afterwards
  • 49th = If the thawing of the Falls was successful Drought ends. A light rainfall sparks new hope and uplifts spirits. If not, draught continues.
  • 50th = Shipping resumes.

  • 58th = War breaks out between Sun's Berth and Daggerhand. Various points in the city become battlefields.
  • 60th = Dozens of merchants are chased out of town. Few merchants enter the city. Prices are triple as demand is greater than supply.
  • 68th = Draught ends here if thawing of the falls was unsuccessful.
  • 71st = Zeltivan Privateer Luckless Tide comes damaged into port.
  • 72nd= Privateer is taken by Old Legs, crew captured

Sunberth Winter Calender

Baroque Bay and the Winter is going to be rather mild, if chilly after the long draught causing all sorts of differing factions to rear their ugly heads and start taking a part of each other. However two winter storms do affect the population as food resources dwindle. For the whole season, food is scarce and a priority to everyone. More food thefts occur than thefts of valuables.

  • 17th = Prices for food rise exponentially as supplies dwindle.

  • 37th = Beggars swarm the area around Castle Commons shops. Businesses close up to prevent theft. Temple of the Unknown is packed with beggars and thieves as they shelter from the cold. Temperatures drop to below 10 degrees (fahrenheit) as storm continues. Others get too close to the slag heap, a few deaths occur as fights break out over warmth that location provides.

Bounty on Lotharia Bloodrunner is increased by a hundred mizas for a successful kiling if the head is brought to Robern.

Sunberth Spring Calender

A torrent of activity will be taking place this spring in the wake of a mirrored shroud of bad tidings. The masses in Sunberth will be extremely wary of all mages, and magic in general. Prone to recoil in fear , and then hunt them down. Organized 'witch hunts' may occur at random and for any reason. Those who practice magic should be most wary to keep their actions circumspect.

  • 1st = Spring begins *special event*. Population reduced to ten thousand people total. Gates of the Temple mysteriously close and cannot be opened at all until otherwise noted.
  • 2nd = "Tent city" grows by a hundredfold as survivors begin to emerge from the mines.
  • 3rd = First Round of witch hunts begin by mobs in the tent cities.
  • 4th = A mysterious lender of money arrives at the town's remaining square to speak to those who wish to rebuild. Asking the masses to 'pay it forward.' At this mysterious man's side, Caucher simply stands and waits, 'screening' candidates. Even the three main syndicates are lent to by this shadowy figure. Labor becomes cheap as much of the slums are flattened save for the orphanage.
  • 17th = Prices for food rise exponentially as supplies are horded, Rioting in the warehouse district kills the members of many small gangs and syndicates leaving much of the wolf den to be taken over by Dastanna's lot
  • 24th = The Gated Community begins to return to business as normal, yet with steeper prices.
  • 25th = Mysterious man returns to inspect those who 'paid it forwards'; some who fail have their lives inconcievably snuffed out if they have not progressed far enough. To those who continue to build and rebuild Sunberth he says he will come again. Caucher smiles as many of those who failed die in the night via mysterious causes. Even the three syndicates are reminded of the dangers of crossing this unknown element as few of their greedy lots are expunged of life.
  • 27th = Second Round of Witch Hunts claims ten new lives in hangings as mobs troll the tent city looking for signs of 'witchery'. Many people's stuff is broken if not defended.
  • 27th = Vigilantes successfully expand territory; new training place is added near the library.
  • 32nd = Slaving parties return to Sunberth from other citiy areas, telling stories of the same sort of one day cataclysm occurring.
  • 35th = Docks are fixed enough that shipping resumes.
  • 37th = Discovery that the pool of wild djed below the south hills is creating monsters and mutated animals; large bounties placed on successful monster hunts with the heads being brought to the center of town by the mysterious figure to those willing to fight them successfully. Caucher will deal out rewards per head.
  • 40th Third Round of Witch Hunts claim and hang thirteen suspected mages who were addled by the mirrored storm.
  • 46th = Second Inspection by the mysterious man on all who were lent money for rebuilding efforts. More die if he's displeased. To those who achieve results; he confers to give them a second loan.
  • 53rd = Daggerhands attempt raid on NE location; NE successfully repel attack but many Daggerhands flee. On the way back to Sunberth proper, they are found dead by unknown means. A mysterious note appears in Robern's study, it advises him that it would be best to concentrate on rebuilding the city at this time... The same note appears in several business men's offices and in Crow and Raven's strongholds without a rhyme or reason of how they got there.
  • 58th = Storm arrives
  • 60th = Storm lifts
  • 64th = As the snows in the western mountains melt the river swells. Flooding beyond it's banks, the southern side of the city is hit especially hard by this. In some places as much as three feet of water pool in what were once streets.
  • 71st = Lotharia Bloodrunner, births first child, father unknown; begins to step back and become the trainer of the vigilantes as she cares for new life... three subordinates take over the hunting duties.
  • 74th = The flood recedes, taking much of the usual debris of Sunberth with it. Oddly enough, excepting the water damage, the streets seem to smell less foul for a few days.
  • 79th = Finally, the first crops of the year produce, after being ravaged in the early Spring. Food prices return to normal.
  • 85th = A little bit of Rheumatism increases in the city at slightly higher rates then it should. Doctor Patronius and herbal shops run out of stores.
  • 90th = Food riot begins in the slums yet is quickly surpressed. Some of the shoddy makeshift homes which were rebuilt of scraps from waterlogged flooded areas get burned down...

Sunberth Summer Calender
Summer, the calm gentle season where people go about their busine- Yeah... right. Anywhere but Sunberth. Usually. However, its surprising to find that this summer in Sunberth will be quite gentle compared to the last years of seasons where the town was plagued by disaster after disaster. A time of relative peace, though not safety. Murder rates are down as the population recovers, though crimes such as theft are rising.
  • 1st = Summer begins.
  • 2nd = Stray animals are on the rise, rat swarms become common for the next month.
  • 3rd = Street orphans from Sunberth's slums swarm the commons, causing endless trouble to vendors and shop owners.
  • 4th = Food shortages begin, food prices are double their norm.
  • 17th = A mystery darkening: The egalatarian mystery of the ages... what doesn't stink in sunberth when an old tomb in the graveyards splits open?
  • 25th = Four people in the slums are discovered dead without a scratch on them in a single house. No one remembers anything in the night but the local population begins to whisper as supersticions take hold.
  • 27th = Trees in the northern forest are noticed to become more gnarled. Several types of food and flowers are noticed to have small mutations as a byproduct of the djed storms.
  • 30th = A giant displaced flock of doves, seagulls, and ravens mysteriously enter Sunberth. Perching everywhere they number upwards of three thousand in all. No one knows the reason why but several people begin hunting them for extra food.
  • 35th = Three people hung from the gallows. Their 'crimes' are unknown.
  • 37th = A hundred orphans are thrown out of the orphanage by the headmistress after she finds them breaking her rules. Many are captured by slavers, a few eaten by nonhumans, and others disappear amidst the alleyways.
  • 40th = Birds leave.
  • 42nd = Rainstorm lasts three days.
  • 46th = Caucher, the mysterious man's proxy comes to inspect newly finished buildings and begins to assess the market for paying back loans.
  • 60th = The Gated Community holds a midsummer night's celebration that is open to the public. Provided they dress to impress of course.
  • 64th = Food shortages lessen... prices return to normal.
  • 71st = A bay barge is shipwrecked on the beach, spreading trash it was hauling out to dump at sea all over the shoreline. Crabs swarm from the bay to feast as scavenger birds flock to the coast at night for a quick meal.
  • 74th = Merchant guards brawl in the Commons with displaced orphans, stores closed for five days.
  • 79th = Stores reopen.
  • 85th = The waters of Baroque Bay glow red for for just about an hour after dusk fisherman scramble back to dock. No one knows the reasons why but the port stays closed the next day as traders seek to confirm their cargos safety
  • 86th = Dock and shipping resumes.
  • 90th = A storm rolls in bringing much needed water to the fields.

2. Visit a farm, and spend a day learning about farming.

A note to the syliras regional questgoers:

The main thing about people going through sunberth is figuring out how they're going to arrange to get themselves to sahova.

1. Sunberth does ship bodies to sahova off the wharf.
2. They do ship some live slaves in a second shipment.
3. Find some other means (hire a private boat)

A. Each option to 'sneak' to Sahova in one of the other transports carries some risks but you won't quite know what until you get to the island ;).

Sunberth Winter Calender
Winter, ah, the cold this year will be somewhat bearable until Zulrav and Morwen send two storms the way of the city. Temperatures will plummet, and people trying to stay warm will have a few accidental fires in some of the slums. Better be careful. Food prices will also rise as scarcity hits when the bay freezes... People may have to resort to eating pets and stray dogs and 'other things'. As it stands, winter will be rather tough on all who stay.
  • 1st= Start of Winter
  • 10th= Ships from Sahova return. Street rats and thieves are forced from docks by interested parties and vigilante attacks abound.
  • 35th = First storm hits, a blizzard that closes the bay for ten days. A few drunken fools fall through and drown in the bay when playing games on the ice.
  • 36th = Snows reach two feet, but the snow does not stop.
  • 37th = Slavers raid the slums in the snows , looking for easy captures.
  • 39th = Snows reach four feet, but the snow does not stop.
  • 41st = Food shortages begin. Prices on food double.
  • 43rd = Snows reach six feet.
  • 45th = Blizzard ends, but snow does not melt.
  • 46th = Clearing the snow takes ten days, meanwhile the gangs in the wolve's den start attacking each other to claim territory. The gated community is locked down. Some slum buildings will collapse.
  • A few mysterious deaths occur during this crisis, bodies are found half gnawed upon as it seems parts of the population, including a few myrians resort to cannabilism to supplant waning food stocks.
  • 56th = Most of the snow is cleared, the gated community reopens it's gates. The Tent City all but collapses.
  • 65th = Second Storm hits
  • 71st = Second storm Ends. overall adding two more feet of snow for a total of eight feet. Stores shut down to clear the mess. The docks are frozen. Shipping
  • 74th = Stores reopen.
  • 75th = Food shortages lessen... prices return to normal.
  • 79th = Thawing begins, but slowly. Dock and shipping resumes.
  • 85th = Apparently a few residents decided they like the taste of flesh too much, they stage a raid on the Pig's Foot Tavern. Dragging a few people out before
  • 86th = A Lynch mob against these 'canabils' is formed. Mob Justice will out but no one really knows if they found the real perpetrators.
