Best Abashai OOC Quote ever. Just sayin'...

Being Bondmates isn't easy in thread logistics. I think that's why you need to rp with folks a while and get a sense of whether they will stick around or not. If its meant to be IC, you'll click OOC and things will be easy. Its fine to be rping your PC looking for a bondmate in everyone they find, but there's lots of deal breakers out there for me... slow posters, absenteeism, ill fitting personalities. I even have this thing about people rping very young men and women who are ignorant to the world. I don't like naivety because Mizahar is brutal and even an eight year old walking around is going to now how dangerous it is and all about things like the birds and bees and who's in control where etc. So it comes off unrealistic and fake.

With Abashai and Nya its a bit different too. Abashai once sacrificed Nya's life because a God asked him too and she was only brought back using Unity. They are linked in a way they can't explain that now goes deeper than just the bondmate bond. With that comes telepathy and the fact that if he dies she dies and vice versa... because they share a soul. So while we can thread apart, and have all the crazy things happen that are happening, some aspect of themselves are always still connected or thinking about the other even if they don't really realize it.

The issue is, before you commit to someone with a bonding... make sure they will be around. And make sure that bonding is natural. Your kelvic isn't a pet and the bond goes both ways. It always has.

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

I think there is a lot of confusion on "Are kelvics slaves?" vs "Can a kelvic be a slave?" Kelvics weren't created to be slaves, but neither were humans, yet if you look around miz long enough, you will find both as slaves and pets. Do they make good slaves? Maybe some do others don't..the same goes for humans as well. Though I've never thought of Kyra as anyone's slave and don't intend too.

I do feel for those that don't understand this because they are missing out on a lot of character development by putting their characters under such a narrow label.

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

Please answer Jynx's questions before mine, since mine will likely spark a new discussion. But I just did a read through of the lore and it got me thinking.

So while all you bondmates are here: How does the bond affect the bonded? That is something they never really discuss in the lore. Kelvics are mage crafted creatures, does that mean the bond has magical elements as well? That would surely affect the bonded in some way. But I've also heard it explained that its just a bond. Limited to the Kelvic and the Kelvics own mind, making it more emotional then anything else.

And Nya, all I get from the lore is that Marcus Kelvic was a powerful mage hermit who had rats clean him house, weaver birds sew his clothes and had an unhealthy affection for his cats. Is that other information that you posted in a Miza book? Or on a different wiki page? Someone should add information like that to the main Kelvic page, dammit. Its seems kind of important and I feel I need to read through this info too. Help me out?

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

Rhy, there's a big kelvic writeup planned to replace the current one I think. My information comes from all the threads out there, tidbits spoken too, etc. The problem with posting too much info in the wiki is that it becomes 'common knowledge' when its not the common knowledge. The common knowledge is that Marcus Kelvic was a weird dude that had a bunch of rats clean his house and a bunch of big predators guard Ironrock, his estate. But its always a fine thin grey line between how much info goes into the wiki that people will 'discover' in a book and how much is the lore of the game as discovered through roleplay.

For example... my PC has had many lives with her bondmate. They've basically been on a quest for hundreds of years and have moved through time and space in different bodies trying to accomplish the task. This incarnation though, I think she wanted a bigger stronger body to get the job done, and that's what she got.

As for the bond... it definitely goes both ways. It's never ever been described as a one-way venue. If your bonded to a kelvic, your pretty much obsessed/concerned/etc with them. And its possible to bond to more than one as a sentient person, but I firmly believe that the more you have bonded too you the lesser for you as the bondmate and not the kelvic the obsession etc is because your attention has to be divided. Marcus had a whole lot bonded to him, and if things went wrong with his creations, he culled or sold them. That's stated in the lore, so I suspect bondmates can break the bond as easily as kelvics can if its a conscious decision.

So basically the best most strongest bonds are probably one on one. There will always be mutual interest, attraction of both the minds and bodies. It doesn't have to be sexual but it can be. I honestly think a warrior and a predator kelvic could be the closest of bonds... killer brother in arms and never look back. It just depends on the individuals.

This question actually made me stop and think for a moment. Addy and Sira's bond just seemed to happen so naturally IC (like Sira said, we didn't plan it OOC at all) that I don't really... think about it when I post.

Aidara always wanted love and to be cherished above all the other Inartans for who she is, though at the time she figured that it would never happen because she wasn't Endal material. Sira provides that willingly and also because it's her nature.

So from a bondmates point of view, I think it's safe to say that Addy would in turn do anything for Sira. I think their Endal/ Wind Eagle bond is more prominent than their Kelvic one, but after actively thinking about it and going back to read some of my threads I've realized that while most of the time, Addy doesn't even consider what she is doing or feeling for Sira as an effect of the "bonding", she does sometimes feel the weight of the whole thing on her shoulders. Because she could easily make Sira miserable and she hates giving commands, sometimes backing down from a situation that she normally wouldn't because she doesn't want to exploit Sira's nature.

It makes me happy to see you asking these questions. Why? Because a lot of times people don't think this deeply into it.

If I could give some advice? The bond of a Kelvic and someone else is important... but I don't think it should be the most important aspect of the character unless their concept dictates that. I think the bond between Kelvic and their mate should be defined on a case by case basis, which is why I tried to give you a detailed example of Addy/Sira. If your PC is selfcentered...then they wouldn't really care how their bond effected their mate, right? Or if they're manipulative, then the strings attached to the bond would be very important and probably cause a lot of strife.

I hope this helps! I tried not to ramble.

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

I found out something interesting today. Did you know a Kelvic can identify another Kelvic regardless of if they are human or animal form? Say your predator character happened upon a field mouse Kelvic, you would know immediately that that mouse is a Kelvic even if it looks like every field mouse in the world. Pass a mouse Kelvic in human form walking down the street? Same thing.

Heard this fact from the horses mouth, so to speak, and thought I'd pass it on if you (like me) had no idea.

I was not aware of that either. I always figured it was a sort of skill in itself that a Kelvic honed depending on how many others they had encountered. Good to know!

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

New question designed to provoke controversy discussion.

My Kelvic was bonded to someone for about four years, starting around age two. His bond mate died several months ago. Now he is travelling looking for another bond mate. Would you expect him to gradually revert back to his more beastial nature over time?

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

It would probably depend on how he lives. Is he staying in towns, spending time with humans, or is he living out in the wild, away from humans?

[Kelvic] Mizahar's Wild Children

Postby Sliver on October 4th, 2012, 2:01 am

I think in Jynx's case he wouldn't be as inclined to become more feral or bestial if you will, because his massage profession has him interacting with a myriad of people on a regular and very social basis.

Perhaps if he didn't have very many customers, or the toll of the loss really weighed heavily on him, and he sought solitude in the wilderness as Verilian pointed out, hunting more than having interactions with the other Vantha, then yes, but as he stands now I would vote no.
