Reimancers wanted in Zeltiva

Postby Laioath on January 20th, 2013, 2:26 pm

My character wants to learn the basic of reimancy to use fire and/or wind.
If you are interested please let me know.

The time frame of this can be almost and day of winter, excluding days 13, 16, 17, 21 and 40. just let me know what day you're available in Zeltiva.
As for payment... I just hope you'll do it out of your pure heart and loving nature, as well as your caring personality that wouldn't mind teaching another how to use magic. :D

I hope to RP with you soon.

Reimancers wanted in Zeltiva

Postby Nai'a on January 21st, 2013, 9:34 am

Nai'a only has 15sp in Reimancy, so I do not know if she has enough XP to actually train someone Reimancy, but if you do find someone to train you I would not mind doing a thread together of us training our Reimancy together to gain more XP in it :).

Just keep in mind this:

Initiation into Reimancy can be somewhat traumatic. For a wizard to become capable of manipulating Res, they usually have to be invaded by it. The student will be given ritualized wounds, typically on the palms of the hands, and kneel before the teacher, who will begin generating Res as a gas. The substance is then driven into the student's body through most of its openings: the wounds as well as mouth and nose. The experience can be dangerous, and might prove deadly if the teacher transmutes Res while in this state. The subject will likely feel as if something alien had entered the body; convulsions and pain are common.

After several minutes of this, the teacher will retract his Res, and if initiation was performed correctly, the student will now be able to study Reimancy. Slowly, they will learn how to concentrate and emit the precious fluid for casting.

And read up on the Reimancy to make sure the initiation into the magic is what you want. I hope you find someone, so we can train together soon in Zeltiva!! Best of luck! ;)
Due to college I will not be as active as I was. Sorry, but do not give up on me :)! I will reply ASAP

Reimancers wanted in Zeltiva

Postby Laioath on January 21st, 2013, 10:17 am

My character is determine to be like his sister, in terms of knowledge. He don't like pain much though, but will try to go through it if it's required.

I know fire and water.. I'm 14 as a character so I don't know if I could teach you or not, but I could try.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Reimancers wanted in Zeltiva

Postby Clyde Sullins on April 22nd, 2013, 3:22 pm

A couple of things Laioath.

First, don't forget, magic is rare. And realistically, most mages are NOT going to freely give it away. You need to work for it a bit more than that. Especially when learning your first personal magic. For the first one, you want someone highly skilled, to explain djed to you, and help you understand how to use your body to sense it within yourself, and to use it.

Not to mention, a kind hearted person, would not want to initiate you. Especially since the kindest thing to do is to not initiate you, considering the extreme pain of initiation, the possible death, and the life long issues being a Reimancer gives you.

Plus, mages do not in general want more mages. If everyone can do magic, it is not longer special or rare. So don't expect people to freely give it away easily. If people are, they are not rping realistically.

Here is a helpful link, I would read over the Do's and Dont's of Magic especially.

And just to be clear, the pain is not optional, it is required, and is inherent in the initiation.

---

Now, assuming you do find someone to initiate you, even after all that, here is a few things you should now.

---

-I imagine initiation like this, though I may have taken a small bit of artistic license.

The foreign res is a multitude of snakes, that are on fire. As the res enters you, through your nose, mouth, and ritualized wounds, they snake their way into your body red hot, burning and scalding all the way, though not in the sense that flame does.

Your body can tell the substance is foreign, and so all the while it is trying to reject it and force it out, which will result in you spasm-ing and flailing around and convulsing. But it does not succeed, as the Reimancer is forcing the res in deeper and deeper, much harder than your body can reject it.

So all you can do is sit there in pain, barely able to breath as the burning res enters your lungs and has filled your throat and nose, as it feels like the very essence of your being is being burned from the inside out, as the res goes ever deeper.

Finally, when they are done, they begin to retract the res, which takes almost as long as entering did. You can barely even move.

All the while they are doing this, the Reimancer is concentrated solely on his task, using the utmost concentration they have. All it would take would be a single stray thought, a accidental impulse, and the res will transmute, and kill the person they are initiating, instantly.

Once they are done, you must recover, and after a few days, will be well enough to attempt to do a small spell, to exude a small bit of res, for their first attempt at Reimancy.

---

Clearly, initiation into Reimancy is dicey at best, and deadly at worst. Honestly, I would not think it would be a good idea to have less than someone competent in Reimancy initiate you, for safety reasons. If you want to risk it, you can, but it is not a good idea in my book. As is said, a stray thought could easily get you killed in initiation, and a novice has to concentrate quite a bit, just to create and control their res.

The more highly skilled the Reimancer is, and the more experience they have with previously initiating people, the better off you are.
Clydes Stuff

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.
