A couple of things Laioath.
First, don't forget, magic is rare. And realistically, most mages are NOT going to freely give it away. You need to work for it a bit more than that. Especially when learning your first personal magic. For the first one, you want someone highly skilled, to explain djed to you, and help you understand how to use your body to sense it within yourself, and to use it.
Not to mention, a kind hearted person, would not want to initiate you. Especially since the kindest thing to do is to not initiate you, considering the extreme pain of initiation, the possible death, and the life long issues being a Reimancer gives you.
Plus, mages do not in general want more mages. If everyone can do magic, it is not longer special or rare. So don't expect people to freely give it away easily. If people are, they are not rping realistically.
Here is a helpful link, I would read over the Do's and Dont's of Magic especially.
And just to be clear, the pain is not optional, it is required, and is inherent in the initiation.
---
Now, assuming you do find someone to initiate you, even after all that, here is a few things you should now.
---
-I imagine initiation like this, though I may have taken a small bit of artistic license.
The foreign res is a multitude of snakes, that are on fire. As the res enters you, through your nose, mouth, and ritualized wounds, they snake their way into your body red hot, burning and scalding all the way, though not in the sense that flame does.
Your body can tell the substance is foreign, and so all the while it is trying to reject it and force it out, which will result in you spasm-ing and flailing around and convulsing. But it does not succeed, as the Reimancer is forcing the res in deeper and deeper, much harder than your body can reject it.
So all you can do is sit there in pain, barely able to breath as the burning res enters your lungs and has filled your throat and nose, as it feels like the very essence of your being is being burned from the inside out, as the res goes ever deeper.
Finally, when they are done, they begin to retract the res, which takes almost as long as entering did. You can barely even move.
All the while they are doing this, the Reimancer is concentrated solely on his task, using the utmost concentration they have. All it would take would be a single stray thought, a accidental impulse, and the res will transmute, and kill the person they are initiating, instantly.
Once they are done, you must recover, and after a few days, will be well enough to attempt to do a small spell, to exude a small bit of res, for their first attempt at Reimancy.
---
Clearly, initiation into Reimancy is dicey at best, and deadly at worst. Honestly, I would not think it would be a good idea to have less than someone competent in Reimancy initiate you, for safety reasons. If you want to risk it, you can, but it is not a good idea in my book. As is said, a stray thought could easily get you killed in initiation, and a novice has to concentrate quite a bit, just to create and control their res.
The more highly skilled the Reimancer is, and the more experience they have with previously initiating people, the better off you are. |
