The city was horrifying. Full of the deception that any other race accused her kind of being. It was no wonder her brother had laughed at her when she insisted that he arranged for her to go on a gleaning to the city he had filled her head about. Stories of how ones eyes were never right and the wondrous houses that were as mishchievous as the people. But he had conveniently left out the temperature difference and the way the blasted streets never ceased their infernal movement. She simply had't known.

Biting her lip in frustration and clutching her sack tighter Sosicly hovered near the Sanity Center and clutched fruitless at her own sanity. Perhaps intellectual harvest were better suited to the elder children but be damned if she let her brother know. Gathering herself up to her less than impressive height she lifted her chin and started down the street nervously. As she walked she tried not to worry about things she might bump into or how she might disappear and focus on the...beauty of the city and the strange newness of seeing races other than her own outside the Place of Purging.

'Find you way back to the center by dark and I'll show you where we stay.'

With those words ringing and the phantom reassuring touch of her brothers shoulder squeeze, Sosicly kept her determined, if not wary march. Few look her way but the girl seen no trouble in staring down everything. Her mind greedily soaking up the strangeness of above ground housing and shops. Obviously these were not those were created by the people dwelling there and nothing like she had seen before. Finding something to focus on, the tension poured out of her gait and she began to pull her book o gb parchment for her napsack in order to thrust question into unsuspecting victums faces.

Information is Not Knowledge [Snaeha]

Snaeha likened to think that she was dark and mysterious (as well as talented, beautiful and a great many other wonderful things). But unfortunately, the City of Illusions outdid her in that sense. It had been over a year since her older brother had travelled to the city, and upon his return he had shared the mindboggling twists and changes of the city. She had only half-believed him. After all, how could a city change?

Of course, she understood it now. On her first day, Snaeha had walked into the Tattered Thread. After five or so chimes spent admiring the fine clothes for sale, she stepped out of the same door and found herself on a completely different street. It had taken her the best part of an entire bell to find her way back to the Sanity Centre, though she still could not make heads nor tails of what had just happened.

This place will give me wrinkles if I keep frowning she thought mournfully, touching her forehead carefully. Such things were sure to ruin her beauty, so instead Snaeha tried to enjoy the unpredictability of the city. It had worked in some sense; she took pride in puzzling out those sweeping and twisting streets, though there were times that Snaeha thought she would never find her way again.

So she was pleased to see a familiar face in the Alvadas crowds, though the name of the dark haired girl eluded her memory. But there were no denying she was of Symenestra stock, and Snaeha recognised her face as one she had passed many times in their home city. She made her way over to the younger woman, purple eyes set on her target, as if that might stop the city from twisting and changing before she reached the other Symenestra female.

Fortunately, the city remained constant enough for her to reach out a pale hand and touch the girl’s arm. ”It’s nice to see a familiar face,”She said, smiling.

Even if I can’t recall your name, for Viratas’ sake.

The blur of movement caught her eye, and a tingle of panic crept up when a hand clamped around her wrist. An silent, frightened hiss escaped before the reassuring sound of her own language washed over her in comfort, though her ire did not immediately abate. The girl before her, for she was a girl not much older than Sosicly, had an odd color of red hair set off by her purple eyes. Staring at forms so much more proportioned for the better part of the morning it was strange to stare at the other Symenestra. For a chime she knew how others seen them as strange, and different from any other but they were still beautiful she wondered proudly.

Her next thought was only for revenge over the scare but for the moment the urge for familiar company overrode the feeling, and she smiled softly at the other then nodded. Sosicly pulled her gaze away to scribble quick words in the book, refusing to check and see if the street had changed in their small encounter.

I'm Sosicly, you will accompany me into the next shop. What is your name?

Turning the book to face the girl, she noticed now that she had a familiar face. Likely one she knew from school even if she could not remember the name at that precise moment. Sosicly's written words were not a question but a statement, and she did not think to be wrong for why else would the girl have approached but for company in the city. She just hoped them together did not draw more attention than when they were separate. It would be , to say the least, awkward if they were thrown out of the city without her brother.

Gesturing to the nearest doorway after what she assumed was a suitable amount of time for one to read the words, and raised an eyebrow in question.

Information is Not Knowledge [Snaeha]

Although Sosicly had intended to be anymore more lost in the horrible city, Leth seemed determined to thwart her with his fickle nature. And shortly after gaining an escort she lost her in a switch of streets that left her seeing triple, and the faint outline of people the seemed to disappear with the street.

She longed for her own roads, and cursed herself twice for not thinking of linking hands so she would not be lost. Instead she found herself asking for directions that were never correct in an effort to once more find the sanity center where she assumed her brother was wait, though she wouldn’t put it past him to ‘forget’ about her.

It was a handful of bells later when a native took wary pity of the mute girl and escorted her to the center where she waited for another bell for an angry Veladra to drag her to their temporary residence.

“Everything you thought?” he asked snidely, to which Sosicly glared half-heartedly, relieved to be found even if she wished it was not her brother who found her. To think she wanted to stay here for more than a day. Next time she would be keeping the key.
