Lori was confident, that much was easy to read. She was always confident, even when she should not be, but she considered that both a strength and a weakness. Confidence could intimidate an opponent into backing out of a fight before it ever began. ..that tactic did not work against Garonn, nor would it work against any Akalak, most likely. Lori knew this, but that didn't mean she would drop the act. When Garonn attacked her response would likely surprise him. Her stance was more of a defensive one, but Lori did the exact opposite of defensive. As his sword came towards her throat, she lunged towards him, using her back leg to push herself forward. The suvai in her left hand clashed with Garonn's sword. She did not try to block it, but only deflect it somewhat, to alter it's course slightly, just enough for her to dodge the blade as she pivoted sideways on her left foot. Her right foot came forward, trading places with the left, and she stabbed out with the suvai in her right hand toward Garonn. If he continued his retreat he would likely be able to avoid it easily enough, but if he did not, then he would have to find a way to deflect the pointed weapon without exposing himself to the poison, unless he wanted to spend the rest of their fight lying motionless on the floor. As soon as she completed her thrust she pushed off again with her right foot to send her back into her previous position, still keeping her left hand up in the case the Garonn tried something with his sword during her retreat. All in all it was a much more aggressive move than the Akalak would likely have expected from her, but in truth, it was quite obvious that she was holding back. She could have pressed the attack and place him on the defensive, but instead she retreated back to her original position, and once again waited for him to attack. |
