Breath in. Roderick let go of the string and the arrow went through the air with a swish and thudded into 2nd ring of the target. I seem to be getting better, at least, he thought as he notched another arrow. He blow air out through his nose, then took a deep breath through his mouth and drew back the string. He held it for only a moment while he aimed, then let it go as his muscles began to strain. The bow he was using had cost a lot of money, so he figured he had better know how to use it. When his arrow landed just above where his first had hit, he decided he was improving, albeit slowly. He glanced up at the sun and was surprised to see how much it had moved. He'd lost track of time while he was training. He rotated his shoulders to ease the pain in the joints and then notched another arrow to the string. He was bringing it up to fire when something rustled off to his left. |
