Levi Remilian Appearance Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 20 Birthday: 27, Fall, 495 Birthplace: Black Rock Appearance: Levi is a young man with a height of 5'9" and a slim athletic body. His black hair reaches to about shoulder length and is usually left to flow free and messily though he keeps the bangs out of the way, framing a sharply shaped face with several day's worth of dark scruff. When he must attend to work he ties the unruly hair back in a ponytail. His pale complexion and light blue eyes give the impression of a cold and detached individual, his deep voice only adding to that image. In terms of clothing, Levi prefers plain clothes that are not very flashy or excessive, typically a black shirt and pants with a leather belt and bandolier. Over this he prefers to wears a white hooded cloak under which he keeps his longsword sheathed and a belt pouch hidden from sight. An observant individual may notice that his left hand seems to be always wrapped in bandages under which are the numerous self-inflicted cuts from drawing the blood required for soulmist. *Note: After the 25th of Spring 516 AV and the duration of the season, due to the Curse of the Sharai Spring, Levi has this effect: Sexual Aura This person exudes a sexual dynamism that attracts others regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Does not affect those under 18, so don't be gross. Still affects Nuit, which is already gross enough. Character Concept Dark, calm, and mysterious. That is what would most likely come to mind when a typical person thinks about spiritists or is told about them. Just as Levi wants himself to be seen. His demeanor is usually that of a calm politeness, never speaking loudly though despite that he is not the kind to actively shy away from other people and conversation, having realized the importance of social interaction in his line of work, even if it is with the ethereal. Souls are souls all the same, living and dead, so he treats both with politeness, kindness when he truly believes it is deserved to a person. That is not to say the spiritist has perfect tolerance, having a thinly veiled temper that can easily burst when pushed. Levi wants to show himself as a stoic and trustworthy individual and thus will prioritize rational thinking over his emotions whenever possible, confronting that which is often driven by extreme emotion with careful reasoning. He has the occasional jab of wry humour, expressed in a straight tone and manner. In the end though, the expression of calm he has is but a thin mask, behind it a thoughtful but emotional man, the kind to wrestle with his thoughts when alone, the kind to let those thoughts slip through at moments of agitation. It is a thin mask that can come off very easily. Levi considers himself an adherent to the values of Dira having grown up on Black Rock, firmly believing in the balance of life and death, but even so this belief is one he both upholds and struggles with to this day. Juxtaposed with this is his strong sense of morality and altruism, a great part of this stems from his learning of the ways of Spiritism and how his mother taught him. He aspires to master the world magic and by doing so accomplish what he sees as his life's goal: help those who linger in the mortal world and end their suffering, whether they be living or dead. In addition he wishes to journey the world, dangerous as it is, as he promised to his young friend Naya. Character History Levi Remilian was born in Black Rock, the island of the Goddess of Death. His birth was nothing spectacular or extraordinary, aside from being the first and only child of his parents Simon and Karis Remilian. Early life for the young Levi was normal, at least as normal as it could be on an island populated with the ethereal and under the somber influence of Dira. Even as a child Levi interacted very freely with the ghostly denizens of Black Rock at locations where death had a heavy presence. An early hint at the boy’s inherent aptitude towards spiritism. Time passed on, and the boy was no longer a carefree child. Levi’s parents decided it was time that they began seriously training the young Levi to become what they envisioned for him to be. Now, Karis Remilian and Simon Remilian were two considerably different individuals, both in personality and their professions. The mother was a spiritist, devoted to Dira and to the task of helping those who remained to pass on, though she was not afraid to use force when necessary. The father, on the other hand, was a more pragmatic man, whose skill lay in the sword and battle, dealing with problems of the material world. So Levi was taught by his parents to become proficient in the ways of both the mundane and the spiritual. There was a sudden event though; when Levi was 14 years old, his father suddenly disappeared, leaving behind only one of his cold steel longswords, a sword which became Levi's own, a reminder of his father. During Levi's time of learning, there developed a flicker and blossom of what could be called a friendship; no, perhaps more. Levi was an only child, but he was soon to find one who would become as dear as a sister. It was a chance meeting, and an unusual one at that. The spring of Levi’s seventeenth year of life looked like just another season to the young but competent spiritist. Levi was in the graveyard, practicing with his sword. Focused and concentrated on executing each move and such, the spiritist swordsman did not notice the presence of a young girl with hazel hair and green eyes curiously watching him. After several ticks of simply watching, the girl ran up behind the practicing Levi and cheerily began conversation with him; this was Levi's first meeting with Naya Moren. Initially Levi didn’t take too well to Naya; compared to the contemplative and mild-mannered spiritist she was energetic and extroverted. After this first meeting Naya began bombarding Levi with questions and her own stories she heard from her parents. Add to that Naya’s habit of calling Levi “Big brother” constantly much to his chagrin. Strangely, he found himself interested in what Naya had to say, and in listening to her eventually came to love the girl’s brightness and gusto, a ray of warmness to Levi’s growing coldness. For Naya’s parents had traveled around much of Mizahar before settling down in Black Rock where Naya was to be born, and they would tell her stories of far away cities and lands, of races not human. Hearing these stories from Naya, Levi began thinking; for until then he had only thought about Black Rock and not much of outside the island, but the world was much larger than that. And Black Rock had many people to help the souls he cared for to pass on, but what of the other ghosts in other lands? There may have been that almost religious feeling in Levi but there was also the wish to see his father again, wherever he may be in the world. So eventually, when Levi's his stern expression was replaced with a gentle joyfulness when with her, the spiritist told Naya that he would call her little sister as she called Levi big brother. They made a promise that one day they would go to these places together. Spring passed and summer came, not with warm happiness but change. In the Graveyard where Levi would often come and converse with ghosts, he now stood silently, gazing with sadness at a tombstone only a few days old, on which was carved the name, “Naya Moren”. Her death was completely unexpected, a cruel twist of fate. Naya’s death was treated the way that deaths on Black Rock are, with a solemn funeral but no tears of sadness were shed on the occasion, for death was a time of celebration for the inhabitant’s of Dira’s land; but Levi did not feel this emotion. Even after being raised in an environment focused on honoring death and its “true nature”, the spiritist felt only grief for Naya’s death. Why would Dira take away one so young, whose life had yet to truly blossom? Why? Before Naya’s grave he made a determined decision: his promise to travel the world with Naya, he will fulfill that promise alone, for her memory's sake. He will journey, increase his own strength, and find his father. That was when one ghost dared to go up to the grieving Levi, a ghost with the appearance of a young girl of only twelve years of age, as she floated up behind him. Sensing the familiar chill of a ghost’s presence, Levi turned to look, and he saw the ghost, bleached of all colour to a pale snowy white except for her green eyes glistening with ghostly tears. It was Naya. Levi fell to his knees, fighting back tears, and embraced Naya, clearly forgetting in a moment all he knew about ghosts as he merely passed through Naya’s now intangible form. On one part Levi was glad to see Naya again, but deep inside he knew that Naya’s remaining in this world could twist and darken his adopted sister if left untended and without guidance. So Levi after the initial joy immediately began looking for Naya’s reason for remaining, and to his surprise she said it almost immediately: their promise to travel the world together. Now reunited, with his mother's help and blessing, the two set off on boat away from Black Rock to the rest of Mizahar. Colour seemed to have been bleached out of Naya’s appearance after her death. Long white hair that it almost comes down to her knees, though when Naya was still alive it was of a hazel brown instead of pure white, her emerald green eyes the only spots of vivid colour on the ghost’s pale visage, wearing a simple white dress. Personality: Death seems to have not dampened the ghost’s cheerfulness and mischievousness, especially if Naya is with her “big brother” Levi. For Levi was part of the reason that she chose to remain as a ghost, as well as the desire of seeing the world, so she will cling with great tenderness and care to her adopted brother, also looking up to him. That however means that she often plays little tricks on Levi, oftentimes being the cause of shattering his “cool” in front of people. As she was alive her energy and child’s curiosity has hardly decreased. Curiosity about all the new things she will see and meet with Levi. History: Her parents Byron Moren and Amelia Moren were originally from Syliras, but the couple had traveled together through many parts of Mizahar. It was from these travels that the stories they told Naya came from. Coming to Black Rock, it was here that the couple settled down in Black Rock and thus Naya and her older brother Nathaniel were born. As she grew, Naya literally fed off the stories her parents told her as much as she did on food and water. Since she was little the girl displayed a huge amount of enthusiasm and curiosity, and she could strike up a light-hearted conversation with practically anyone she met. She was the literal “ray of sunshine” to her parents in the bleak black and white land of Black Rock. And she clung to her older brother, and the two were rarely seen separated. Nathaniel would have been the same age as Levi, and was very similar in appearance by some stroke of coincidence, but these two never met, for when Nathaniel was only twelve he suddenly grew deathly ill, and died. His death was a heartbreaking loss for the then seven year old Naya, but from some inner strength surprising for her age she became more passionate instead of slinking away in sadness. She seemed to cope well with death despite her tears. But wounds will always leave a scar, and Nathaniel’s death left the spot of a caring brother void and empty in Naya’s world. One day several years later, Naya had noticed a certain person with a white cloak and cold expression who would talk to ghosts more than to any living person, and this person somehow resembled her deceased brother. Her curiosity aroused, she sneakily followed this person around for a few days, but what really struck her was this scene: Levi tenderly comforting and kindly guiding a ghost of a young girl until the ghost disappeared having passed on, and Levi smiling with a warm, joyful smile to himself. Having caught this glimpse of Levi’s warmer and kinder side, she felt a yearning she had ever since Nathaniel died, a yearning for a big brother who would look after her and care for her like Nathaniel did. So, wanting to know him better, Naya finally introduced herself to Levi while watching him train with his sword, and from there the brother-sister relationship sprung forth, and at the end of the Spring season made her promise with Levi. Yet this time of happiness was broken by death, swiftly taking Naya’s life away. For she had been bounding down a flight of stairs in her home to her father when the most unfortunate happened. Naya suddenly tripped, fell and hit her head, and so died right there in front of her father. Death… the girl just could not surrender to death; she had made a promise to Levi, to travel with him through the world, and she could not just go on. So, Naya became a ghost to keep her promise and “live” out her dream of traveling. First going to her parents, she comforted them in their own loss of their only remaining child, saying she was going to fill out the dream she had. Tearfully, her parents agreed, as they wanted the best for Naya, alive or dead, and that was letting her live out the life she couldn’t have.

"I clear my throat as a habit even if my throat is fine. I try not to tilt my head at people, but sometimes that slips past my conscious efforts. 5. The goddess of healing may have a rivalry with Dira, but to me, healers heal people to allow them to live to their full potential and fulfil a purpose that could have been unfulfilled it they were not saved. "I happened to come upon a Dhani shifting forms... it was a horrifying sight for the young me." 4. What sort of relationship did you have with your parents? "We had a very good relationship, despite father disappearing. I do wish to find him during my travels. 5. Who was your most influential rolemodel? "Between my parents, it is my mother. She taught me spiritism and influenced my view of the discipline and how I should put my time and life to use." Education : 1. What sort of education do you have? "I was taught how to read and write while my parents taught me the aforementioned spiritism and weapon skills." 2. Do you like/dislike learning? "One is always learning, so yes." 3. "No and I do not plan to." 5. What do you think of drugs and alcohol? Be specific.Both cloud and dull the mind which I do not like. Alcohol is the more tolerable of the two and it is a part of almost every culture. It is fine for the occasional drink. Drugs however are far more addictive from what I have heard and thus should be avoided." Likes and Dislikes : 1. What are your hobbies? "Naya seems to have made it part of her life- er... existence's goal to embarrass me and shake off the composed image I seek. I will admit that I have a small sweet tooth. On the other hand, I do not understand how people enjoy spicy food. That is not flavour, it is pain." 5. What is your favorite type of weather? Does any kind scare you? "A sunny day with a few clouds gracing Syna. Weather is weather, the closest to scary is a storm but I do not particularly fear weather." Outlook : 1. "As a follower of Dira, I believe every life that adheres to the cycle of reincarnation must have some kind of purpose." 3. Would you be able to kill? "I would not want to as killing is a final resort. Unless what must be killed is something that should not be still continuing on in unlife." 4. What are your views on sex? "A completely natural process that results in procreation and the continuation of a race of which I have no experience at all. Can we continue on?" 5. What, in your opinion, makes a successful life? The best thing I have done is leaving Black Rock to travel this world with Naya. The worst? I remember when I was still being taught by my mother, I had infused a dagger with soulmist and threw it at a wall just as an innocent ghost phased in. "It is impossible to change the past, there is no point thinking of it. But if I could change just one thing... I would find a way to have kept Naya from dying." 5. "Like Dira I have a dislike of the undead, if I ever encounter one I will make sure they return to the cycle." 3. What makes you happy? "Being able to help others and seeing the wonders of this world." 4. Who or what, if anything, would you die for? "If Naya is ever in danger, I will do my best to protect her no matter the cost. But to die and leave her alone... if that ever did happen I hope she would pass on with me." 5. What makes you angry? "People who have no respect for the lives of others and insult them." Who is the most important person in your life, and why? "At this moment, it is Naya. She has been with me these past several years and will continue to be with me for the foreseeable future." 3. If not, describe an ideal lover. "No I don't have a significant other, I do not have the time nor have found that person. Maybe it is someone caring and understanding, more outspoken than me? Frankly I do not know." 5. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? "I trust myself foremost to keep myself safe. Right now there is no one else who I trust to protect me. Naya is not a very powerful ghost, so I must protect her." Group Situations : 1. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? Preferably conflict must be avoided, but if there is something I disagree with I am not afraid to argue about that matter." 2. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? "Not often, I prefer to let another person take the lead in most cases unless my skills are best suited for the situation, which is rare considering what my skills are." 3. "To fulfill my purpose in life. That purpose is to help others and give peace to restless lingering souls." 2. What is the best part of life?
