No problem Alric! I love having the help anyways... especially with those 3-page and longer threads. I always put them off... and then you come around and grade it, and I can move on! Even one thread in a while is awesome :D

Let's see how you do in the next list Vanari... and Kit, what do you mean by that? O.o

Anyways, the standings!

1. Kaie 24222
2. Miro 20343
3. Vanari 18833
4. Inoadar 16655
5. Alric Wilmot 12597
6. Valerius Nitrozian 10904
7. Amelia Cross 10467
8. Amolina 9766
9. Kit Rowan 6646
10. Kyodaija 4558

Just the top 10 here! Vanari seems to have completely shot up there... 6 000 words in two days! You guys need to be at 15 003 words to be on track by the end of today! So we only have 4 people up there... cmon Alric, you're almost there! :D

Hey guys :)

Gossamer's post here has made me... rethink... a few things. I hope I haven't offended any of you guys here with the competition. I guess I just wanted to give another push to for you to write... though maybe for the wrong reasons. I'm going to do a bit of changing up with the competition... for anyone who finishes NaNo in general, I will be arranging some kind of reward. Maybe a massive quest for everyone, but that might get a little crazy... I haven't yet figured it out yet.

I realize I might have created some less than friendly competition, but I'd like to change that. I'd love to have as many people in this city finish NaNo, or at least do as good as they can. Maybe set yourself a goal of 20k for the season, or something completely unrelated to word count! Improve your writing skills, try a new style, enact some kind of story arc with your character for the fun of it!

On that note of new goals, maybe you guys put up your personal goals for NaNo here? That was we can try and help each other reach them. Someone need help with coming up with a plot? Brainstorm with them, or maybe work something out between your two PCs. If you guys want any help, or have any questions, I'm always here as well. I may be newer to Ravok that... basically all of you, but I can try my best :)

So overall... lets try and fix this! Instead of getting the highest word count, just go for whatever you want the most. Also, if you have any ideas for something Ravok as a city can do for NaNo, or to reward those who complete the 50k or even just their own personal goal, feel free to PM me or post here! I'd love to hear your opinions!

Aww I kind of liked the competition :P But I like this direction as well, I'm personally interested in something happening with the rising dawn, especially cause V seemed to have something planned? Perhaps we can make somethin juicy and violent happen ^_^

[Ravok's OOC Thread] Tell Me Your Secrets

Abstract,

I never had a problem with the competition itself, just with the way some people handled it. To me it was interesting to find out who in Ravok had posted how many words. I’m not sure if I’ll reach 50.000 words, but if I do, I’d really love a little reward or some kind of big, epic quest for everyone.

My personal goal for NaNo is to find out which direction Valerius is going to take. I want to get to know him better. He wants to belong to Rhysol, more than anything else in this world, but I think with the right incentive he could also be persuaded to turn away from everything he currently believes in.

Like Vanari I think something with the Rising Dawn would be interesting.

Hi. I really like this city. I think Quint's the wrong guy for here but I love the layout and the factions and would like to start an alt here in 2 or 3 weeks. In the meantime I'm going to look around so I get the lay of the land and a feel for the place.

There was going to be a quest on the 85th where Siriana, leader of the Rising Dawn, was going to be executed, but V retired. Maybe we could do something with this?

I'm glad I haven't irritated anyone in this sense!

Now, since a lot of you seem to want this Rising Dawn quest thing... I have an idea or two. I've PMed V (well, one of his PCs) with questions about his plans, so we'll see what he has to say. Until then... I think I might find an IC reason for the execution to be postponed, maybe some political reason. Then we'll set if for early Winter, where everyone has time... and we can set it up as the Winter SQ, or something like that. I'll try and add a few twists and turns along the way. Now... to include NaNo in that, I have another idea... but I want you guys to tell me if you like it or not.

Now, since I still want to encourage you, as PCs, to participate in NaNo in any way you can... maybe anyone who simply tries will join the quest? Or should I just leave it open? It might be unfair to those who have plans, however... but I'd love as many people as possible to try something over NaNo in general :)

That sounds good to me :D

This might be too complicated to implement, but I was thinking...what if we had tiers of some sort? Like, if you hit this many words, then you get this reward. And maybe say the top...certain number (whatever is most plausible for quests) of the most prolific posters get to participate in the heart of the quest, since they'd likely be most connected and involved with the city anyway? That way, everyone has an incentive and can be rewarded, but in a way that can still push people to write more...

I dunno, just an idea that popped into my head.

It might be disadvantageous for those who either decide not to take part this year for RL reasons. Speaking as one of them, I would consider it slightly unfair. I myself will continue writing posts, but not to the extent that I'll be completing NaNo. So yeah, don't exclude people who choose/are forced to (because of RL) not participate. You can give those people who participate and/or complete NaNo extra stuff, but not too much.

With regards to involvement in the plot, I'd rather not implement anything like this; I believe that it should have to depend on your IC positions/influence both in Ravok and in the thread itself - for example, as a Nitrozian, Valerius will have more clout in certain circles than others.

So letting OOC stuff affect IC stuff is fine - but the effect must not be too great. Perhaps the participants could have a certain amount of say in what rewards they receive?

I honestly think nano shouldn't have any bearing in the quest at all. Nano is already awarded with a shiny medal and the satisfaction that you can actually do it. Not to mention, belting out 1667 words every day doesn't mean you have any IC advantage, or have even necessarily become a better writer. I mean sure, you might be, but really all it means is that you have excellent time management skills and drive. These are good things, but I don't think they should determine rewards for a quest or participation. Usually, these things start with a dozen people anyway and whittle down to two. In which case you are rewarded for simply sticking to it and buckling down, as it should be.
