The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Brandon did not even have to cut the man, just by the feel of the cold blade on his black wrist, the fingers relaxed and lost their grip, the dangerously steel clattering on the brickwork. Blackarm looked away, not resisting, it seemed he had lost the will to fight entirely. Not resisting, not even moving at all, having lost both the fight and his spirit, he had been utterly defeated. The bat sighed as he got up with the cracking of bone, sheathing the dagger he held with a small flourish. Then, he turned his back on him, this man was no longer a foe, no opponent, no threat.

A step forwards was taken, his mantle flapped in the breeze, trailing him, however, Blackarm’s voice stopped the thief immediately, he glanced over his shoulder, staring at the defeated. “Indeed. To the victor go the spoils, the fate of the one that has fallen is part of that too,” the victor proclaimed, “I don’t want your life, I have no need for your blood on the stones, no use for a corpse between the flowers. Your time has not yet come, I am not the one who has the right to take your life, only Dira has. Your death here and now would be unnecessary and pointless, I have no interest in eating your remains, I am not famished.” A pause, and a brief locking of dark and crystal orbs.

“There is no need for me to kill you as you do not threaten my survival. In short, your death would be pointless.” A sharp twist of his neck made his head turn into its original position again, and the thief walked away, not reacting to the insults thrown at him. A coward huh? Heh, maybe I am, but at least I am not a fool. I won’t risk my freedom over a quarrel like this one. I am selfish, I will keep my freedom no matter what. You wanted me to kill you, so you would not have to carry the burden of this defeat, of your stupidity. The real coward is you, Blackarm! A grin crept up his face, one last taunt? One last act of mockery, one last insult thrown at his opponent? Would he do it? Nah, this game was over, he had won, he would not stoop so low as to mock a foe that has fought better than expected. While Blackarm was not someone he liked, he kind of respected him for that- then again, he had just underestimated him, been blinded by arrogance. Indeed, respect was wasted on the weak-willed, respecting the halfbreed would just encourage his own underestimations. No, respect was not what that emotion was, it was probably pity… yes, that’s what it was.

Boots galloped through the streets, he could hear it, along with the cluttering of armor and weaponry. Oh great, the Shinya, should he run? No, he’d better stay, running would make him suspicious while he had in fact done nothing wrong. Blackarm hadn’t noticed yet, the halfbreed shouted on and on, until he was shut up by the sound of a body slamming onto the ground, shouts and the appearance of several guards, accompanied by two civilians. One of the guards shouted something, something the bat did not really understand and before he knew what exactly they wanted, he too slammed into the brickwork, hurt shoulder first.

A pain-filled grunt escaped his lungs, the air also escaping him. What the? What was that feeling, it was as if someone had pulled both his legs from underneath his body simultaneously… but there had been no-one there… Ah wait, magic? What else could it be? He couldn’t even move now, his body shackled by invisible … somethings. Oh, how he hated both the Shinya and magic! Gods damn those petchers! May they all rot in Hai! There would come a time when Brandon would make fools out of those guardsmen, but not now, and not here. For now he should play along.

Onyx orbs scanned the two persons standing amidst the assembled guards, a tall female and a young boy, the former hugging the latter tightly. Oh, who have we there, the germfreak and her poking son. Ah, so they had reported the fighting between the bat and the halfbreed to the Shinya, that made sense. “Whoa there, guardsmen, I am void of blame here, it was self-defense.”

Waiting for Go-Arysana-dot

As his head cracked against the Syna-warmed laid stone, Raien knew he'd be bruised in the morning, hai he'd be bruised next week. But he didn't care. All he heard, all he was paying attention to. Were the words of the less than scrupulous character across from him, whom from the direction of his voice, had not been spared by whatever invisible force had knocked him to the ground.

"Guardsman?" What was he talking about? Raien began to roll over to face the sound of Djas's voice institutionally. And yet, his eyes began to widen in surprise when he found himself actually moving, having expected to still be securely locked into place by whatever witchcraft had put him face-down in the first place. Though, the look on his face was nothing compared to the one that began to wash over his visage as the bat's mouth kept moving.

"No blame!?!?" The petching shyke was trying to pass all the fault off to him. Raien realized, his mind beginning to race with a mixture of panic, anger, and lingering shame. Truly, part of him wanted to reach out and throttle the thief, to let his rage pass into the man's neck, and yet there was a nagging suspicion that whatever the guards had used to subdue him, could be called back at a moment's notice.

He had to assume that he wouldn't even get his hands up, let alone be able to strangle Djas. Still, even if the force was a one time thing, Raien resolved as he looked around, the three leather-clad patrolmen were more than enough to subdue him in his current state. Maybe if he wasn't injured, may-. No. There was no way he could take on three trained attackers. No matter how outraged he was, no matter how much the man deserved it, he had to make himself look innocent, he was innocent. "Wasn't he?"

"Sir," the Half-Isur said leaning himself up into a crisscross position, groaning mentally as he did so. And looking up to the nearest 'guard'.

"This man, Djas, I won't claim I am, but he can't either, he's not blame free... Not in the slightest," Raien said rubbing the growing sore-spot on his head and straining not to grit his teeth. He had wanted to come off as "innocent" but his voice barely portrayed impartiality. Between his anger, headache, and the fluttering sensation in his chest, he was surprisingly okay with that too. And even though there was still more than a little lingering annoyance, it was more with situation than anything.

The Guard looked over to his side, before beginning to open his mouth. And then being promptly cut off by a larger man off to his side, whom Raien hadn't really noticed. "Dammit, he'd picked the wrong man," was his only thought as he turned to look at the new official.

"That'll be enough Veryn," indeed, the man was speaking with an air of authority. Ordering someone of lower rank than him to stop speaking, not requesting. Raien thought, looking the two men up and down. Scanning for some sigh of rank, an insignia, something. He didn't want to make the same mistake twice, but his head was really too fuzzy to focus...

"Listen... To be honest, its almost the end of our shift. Leth's Shinya are due to relieve us in a few chimes if not less," the man said scrutinizing the two grounded brawlers. Raien suddenly noticed his tired eyes as the Shinya began to sigh.

"You didn't damage any property, which makes this really nothing more than a duel. Now, if either of you is intent on seeing the other in shackles you can keep shifting the blame and I'll less than happily haul you off to the Seiza. I'll let them straighten it out, because really I don't feel like it. Otherwise, you can just nod your heads, tell everyone here that this was just a spar, and be on your way," the ranking Shinya said, shooting a look to his subordinates as if to say they better keep their mouths shut. But otherwise exuding an air of confidence and laid-back authority.

And all the while, Raien couldn't believe what he was hearing, couldn't believe his luck. Couldn't believe his actions might have put him in shackles. He knew was he was going to agree to the Captain's offer of leaniancy almost immediately. There was only one more variable, one more detestable and unpredictable Shyke who might ruin it. And he was sitting or laying rather, right next to him. Raien began to turn his head slowly over to the thief, a more than hesitant look on his tanned features.

Waiting for Go-Arysana-dot

It wasn’t really like Brandon had expected the guards to believe him –and they didn’t- after all, he knew well enough that he had started this fight intentionally. Not that he regretted it, not at all, the bat was glad that he had had his fun for today, the only thing that ruined it were these invisible shackles that bound him to the floor. It was definitely some kind of magic, but what kind was hard to tell, Brandon didn’t know a thing about the suspicious art. What he did know was that if he’d try to free himself the shackles would get tighter, while they might loosen if he didn’t do anything at all.

Blackarm’s reaction to the bat’s words was quite entertaining as well, he got pretty angry and did his best to explain that it was in fact all Brandon’s fault. Too bad that the commanding Shinya wasn’t the one Blackarm had addressed, not that Bran would have been able to tell the difference in rank, their color-codes were not something he had found worthy of his time. The leader of the trio seemed to be pretty tired, having had to deal with all kinds of people, and his subordinates and was willing to let them go… be free…

Though temptation whispered in his ear, its voice sweet and manipulative, telling the bat to ask the guards whether Backarm had been registered yet, and stubbornly deny blame. It was really tempting, the chance to see the ‘hero’ been decorated with a nice pair of shackles and dragged off to be tried. However, the realization that the person who would accompany Blackarm would be none other than himself hitting him, he decided not to. Right now the man was playing nice, or just forgot to mention the thief’s occupation to the guards, this could be his chance to get revenge for that day two seasons ago. If they both were to be dragged to the Seiza, Blackarm would without a doubt claim that Brandon was a criminal and had to be stopped. If they’d investigate, the bat would be petched. No, than he’d rather swallow his pride and apologize to that trio of fools and ignore the whispers. A sigh.

“Well, I am sorry to have caused you gentlemen such trouble, but I can assure you that it wasn’t our intention to disturb the peace and calm of the city. We had an exchange of words and decided that –since we couldn’t get to a consensus regarding our debate- we’d decide who of us was correct by duel. I must add that we both were quite excited and that people,” he stared at the boy and his mother, especially the mother, “got the wrong impression.” A smirk appeared on his lips.

The commanding Shinya nodded, and all of a sudden the pressure on his neck, arms, legs and torso disappeared, allowing for movement. The bat’s body coiled up as he balanced on his shoulder-blades and palms, the latter launching himself up while he stretched his legs violently, thus getting back on his feet and upright instantly. “Well then, I’ll be off now, see you around, Blackarm,” the Kelvic spoke before striding to the alley that was the exit, cape waving through the air as he moved and disappeared from sight.
