Brandon did not even have to cut the man, just by the feel of the cold blade on his black wrist, the fingers relaxed and lost their grip, the dangerously steel clattering on the brickwork. Blackarm looked away, not resisting, it seemed he had lost the will to fight entirely. Not resisting, not even moving at all, having lost both the fight and his spirit, he had been utterly defeated. The bat sighed as he got up with the cracking of bone, sheathing the dagger he held with a small flourish. Then, he turned his back on him, this man was no longer a foe, no opponent, no threat.
A step forwards was taken, his mantle flapped in the breeze, trailing him, however, Blackarm’s voice stopped the thief immediately, he glanced over his shoulder, staring at the defeated. “Indeed. To the victor go the spoils, the fate of the one that has fallen is part of that too,” the victor proclaimed, “I don’t want your life, I have no need for your blood on the stones, no use for a corpse between the flowers. Your time has not yet come, I am not the one who has the right to take your life, only Dira has. Your death here and now would be unnecessary and pointless, I have no interest in eating your remains, I am not famished.” A pause, and a brief locking of dark and crystal orbs.
“There is no need for me to kill you as you do not threaten my survival. In short, your death would be pointless.” A sharp twist of his neck made his head turn into its original position again, and the thief walked away, not reacting to the insults thrown at him. A coward huh? Heh, maybe I am, but at least I am not a fool. I won’t risk my freedom over a quarrel like this one. I am selfish, I will keep my freedom no matter what. You wanted me to kill you, so you would not have to carry the burden of this defeat, of your stupidity. The real coward is you, Blackarm! A grin crept up his face, one last taunt? One last act of mockery, one last insult thrown at his opponent? Would he do it? Nah, this game was over, he had won, he would not stoop so low as to mock a foe that has fought better than expected. While Blackarm was not someone he liked, he kind of respected him for that- then again, he had just underestimated him, been blinded by arrogance. Indeed, respect was wasted on the weak-willed, respecting the halfbreed would just encourage his own underestimations. No, respect was not what that emotion was, it was probably pity… yes, that’s what it was.
Boots galloped through the streets, he could hear it, along with the cluttering of armor and weaponry. Oh great, the Shinya, should he run? No, he’d better stay, running would make him suspicious while he had in fact done nothing wrong. Blackarm hadn’t noticed yet, the halfbreed shouted on and on, until he was shut up by the sound of a body slamming onto the ground, shouts and the appearance of several guards, accompanied by two civilians. One of the guards shouted something, something the bat did not really understand and before he knew what exactly they wanted, he too slammed into the brickwork, hurt shoulder first.
A pain-filled grunt escaped his lungs, the air also escaping him. What the? What was that feeling, it was as if someone had pulled both his legs from underneath his body simultaneously… but there had been no-one there… Ah wait, magic? What else could it be? He couldn’t even move now, his body shackled by invisible … somethings. Oh, how he hated both the Shinya and magic! Gods damn those petchers! May they all rot in Hai! There would come a time when Brandon would make fools out of those guardsmen, but not now, and not here. For now he should play along.
Onyx orbs scanned the two persons standing amidst the assembled guards, a tall female and a young boy, the former hugging the latter tightly. Oh, who have we there, the germfreak and her poking son. Ah, so they had reported the fighting between the bat and the halfbreed to the Shinya, that made sense. “Whoa there, guardsmen, I am void of blame here, it was self-defense.”
