Marrin goes to the Suren Cliffs for some peace and quiet, and comes away with something far more interesting.

The westernmost tip of Kalea, Wind Reach is home to an amazing group of people and their giant eagle mounts. [Lore]

”You caught a boar?” he asked, suddenly amazed. That was something to brag about, at least for the younger hunters like the two of them. Boars were mean creatures, strong with a reputation for killing hunters without a firm grip and a strong sense of bravery. Marrin was frankly quite impressed with her, pleased that he knew someone who had managed such a feat at his age. The most dangerous thing he’d ever brought home from the hunt was a moose, and it had nearly killed him! ”That’s fantastic! How did you manage that?”
He listened carefully as she gave her explanation, in hopes that he might glean the method of her (some would say suicidal) madness. If he ever encountered a boar in the wilds, he didn’t want to be unprepared, and sharing hunting stories was one of the many ways hunters became a community. By learning from each other, they were able to skip over making a number of mistakes themselves in favor of the wisdom gleaned by those that came before. In truth it was one of the only reasons Marrin interacted with anyone at all, his tendency to botch social interactions causing him to live a life of relative solitude. However, if he could gain some knowledge that could help him and help Wind Reach, he was prepared to listen. As long as it didn’t require any reading, that is.
Marrin was no longer paying attention to the cliff, and didn’t feel the slightly larger tremor that shook the area. More stones, some slightly larger than those that had previously tumbled into the lakes, now ricochet down the stony face of the mountain into the lakes. If he hadn’t been so engrossed in Azira’s tale of hunting heroism, he may have noticed the rumbles and splashes below, as well as the tiny cracks forming in the area where he was seated.
A slightly sulfuric smell filled the air, pungent and noticeable to the pair. A volcanic vent had opened below them, sending its fumes up to the waiting nostrils of the teen Avoras. The opening of the vent would soon be the catch that broke the Wind Eagle’s back, the scent spelling out doom for those who would soon find themselves plummeting towards the lake. As the gods would have it, Marrin was to be one of them. There was no telling what Azira would do, what might happen when the cliff finally collapsed, but it would likely define the relationship of the pair for some time. |

The huntress glanced sideways at the other hunter, surprised by his somewhat awed tone. She felt her cheeks warm at the young man's expression. He clearly found it amazing but she didn't have any clever reply, or any reply at all for that matter so she merely nodded in response and looked away. Still blushing, the girl began to recount her story, editing out some parts like the fact it had been her birthday and she'd been in a fairly melancholy mood at the time. She only told him what was vital.
"Well I found the boar, or it found me depending on how you look at it and I was too close to get a shot off and it chased me so I ran of course. It chased me around for a bit until I got the idea into my head to climb a tree and try to shoot it from there. That didn't work out quite as I planned so I ended up swinging from a branch with the stupid pig trying to take my ankles off as it ran past me. I was behind it for one tick, just one and it was facing away from me so I thought that that was my chance. So I jumped it, literally and stabbed it to death," she told him in a rush, barely taking a breath between sentences as she gave him a synopsis of the previous day's hunt.
She sat waiting for the other to say something, shifting on the uncomfortable stone. Her discomfort was only added to by the sulphuric scent that was oozing from somewhere below them. Wrinkling her nose didn't block out the smell much so the young woman drew her legs up so that she could scoot backwards from the edge a bit. The stench lessened a little but it was still too pungent for the girl's liking. Standing up, she dusted herself off.
"I don't know what that reek is but I'm not staying around to breathe it in. You coming?" she asked her companion, cocking her head to the side. She'd be glad to get away from the edge anyway. The girl had absolutely no problem with heights but she did have a problem with edges. She couldn't bear to sit on that cliff edge, especially if she looked straight down, a feeling that made her dizzy and convinced her that he was going to fall off. Basically, it gave her the creeps. The teen hoped that Marrin would agree to move.

Knowing Azira now, going back to read and review this thread is absolutely devastating. Reading about her before the riots took their toll and changed her into the way she is now is tragic; and to steal Marrin's favourite word, you have done a beautiful job of transforming not just the way she acts, but also the way your narrative describes that. There's a narrow line between not making someone different enough, and making them so different that they seem like an utterly different person; you are cartwheeling and backflipping along that line like an Olympic gymnast. I hope you're proud of that achievement, because you have every right to be. There are certain similarities between how Azira used to be, and how Khara is now; I don't know if you (OOC and IC) are conscious of that already, but that may open up some avenues for even more character development in the future.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a huge amount I could manage to give XP and lores on because most of the important revelations were about Azira and for the audience; but I scrounged together a few little bits and pieces.
