[OOC] Ivory Heart

The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

I always thought it was strange that the Aramanthine Gate was the main entrance to the city, given that the description of the wilds paints it as almost completely inhospitable. Meaning that it would be unlikely for anyone but the most seasoned of wilderness survival experts to make any sort of journey across land. A large group in a caravan perhaps with lots of guards? But then there's the logistics to consider, namely the dense forests, not to mention hoisting up goods and such once you arrive at the base of the peaks.

Perhaps it would be better to have the main entrance thread for new PCs located at the docks, since arriving via ship sounds a lot more feasible and safe.

I mentioned this here rather than PM in case anyone else wanted to comment.

I kind of wonder, if only morphing, auristics and reimancy are accepted, then what magic will the Shinya wield? I mean they are projectionists...

Sal and Branbat have raised some very good points :) .

I do agree, Sal, that the docks are probably the primary point of ingress for most people visiting Lhavit, especially since the Unforgiving is supposed to live up to its name and eat people for lunch, but most is the operative word :P . Wind Eagles can fly in, and there may be PCs out there with high enough skills to make it through the Unforgiving, if they were so inclined...

The map of the city does show Port Tranquil and a track leading up the mountain to the Zintia Peak, where the gates are...perhaps making it clearer that most people have to arrive by sea or something?

It was always my understanding that the Amaranthine Gate was the city entrance from the port.

The Shinya will still have projection :). It will be a faction only magic, with only a few rare exceptions. So if you want projection you will have to get involved with the Shinya XD. I am also playing with the idea of introducing Flux to Lhavit in some way. Of all the magics Flux makes the most sense to somehow be incorporated into Lhavit since Flux was one of the few magics that Suva was expressly known for.

I will definitely look at that entrance haha. Your right it probably should be made clear and expressly described as the main entrance for people from the docks. I may look at adding an auxiliary entrance in there as well for those few who can actually make it to Lhavit any other way than by boat. Something to think about :)

I am seriously planning to have all of the biggest and major edits up and in place by the end of the month. As i go I will be giving everyone updates to help them as they thread in this first part of the season. If any questions arise please PM me :)

... Hm, I thought it led straight into the Unforgiving. Since, you know, you have to climb a mountain to reach the gate... Which is pretty unpractical really. Speaking of which; the Catholicon is pretty weird too. It's a hospital, yet it is built on one of the highest peaks of the city. You'd think that they'd make it easily accessible to the injured people who visit... say with a broken leg? I don't know, but for the sake of the patients I'd either install an elevator or build the Catholicon not on the second highest peak. I mean, it makes great IC ranting material (one of Bran's favorite subjects to be exact) but it makes no sense at all. If you want a building with an endless staircase, make it a temple or so, but not a hospital, for Rak'keli's sake! <-- see what I mean? Excellent ranting material.

Hehe, well the image alone was enough to make me raise an eyebrow

Elysium wrote:The Catholicon

This grand and decidedly ancient tower is the medical facility and hospital here in Lhavit. A narrow staircase winds up toward the second highest point on Tenten peak, leading into a narrow marble corridor.

The Catholicon was designed to deter people from getting injured, hehe.

Meanwhile, another question. How is the omission of animation going to affect the use of golems in Lhavit with regards for running and maintaining stuff like the water pumps/supply, sewage and so forth?

Poor Lucis is going to have a heart attack when he sees all his golems sitting around on their asses.
